Welcome

Hello, MikeMaynardUK, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you have edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then get me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that if more than one person is using this account to edit, then unfortunately it will be blocked from editing.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! MuffledThud (talk) 14:09, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

THANKS FOR THE COMMENT Hi! I'm really sorry, I didn't understand Wikipedia and so I have only just seen your comment. I've only just seen your message because I logged in after our page was updated. Is this new Napier Partnership Limited page OK? (It wasn't updated by us!). What else could we do to improve the quality of our own page?

Thanks! Mike

Thanks for the message. There is absolutely no reason why you should not create a new page for this organisation as long as it meets the wikipedia guidelines. Good luck! Deb (talk) 19:53, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

OK, thanks. I'll try to do that in the next few days! Mike.

Kinara (company) moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Kinara (company), is not suitable as written to remain published. If Deep Vision is Kinara, then this company is notable. However, there isn't any sourcing which shows that they are the same company. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Thank you for your helpful comments. This is really helpful, but I have a question. I've not found a source that specifically talks about Kinara previously being called Deep Vision. There are sources that mention it, for example: https://www.eenewsanalog.com/en/chip-industry-veteran-segers-joins-edge-ai-firm-kinara/. Would this be acceptable to show that they are the same company, please?
Thanks so much for bearing with me on this!

Hello MikeMaynardUK. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Menlo Microsystems, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:MikeMaynardUK. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=MikeMaynardUK|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Amigao (talk) 15:19, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Hi Mike, you do need to address this before you continue editing. S0091 (talk) 16:12, 14 June 2025 (UTC)
Sorry I don't edit very often and completely missed the message. In answer to your question, no, I am not being paid for these edits.
I do work in the tech industry so I know quite a lot about the companies, but I am not being paid for any of the edits. I do a very small number of edits, and was trying to add a company I felt was important to the industry. FWIW I have added another company yesterday that is an accountancy firm. They have an office next door to my office and as I'd seen entries for similar firms I thought I'd add them. But we don't work with them and I'm not being compensated for this in any way either. I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hi MikeMaynardUK. Thank you for your work on Kreston Reeves. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for creating a page for this company, particularly active in mergers and aquisitions over the last decade. While it claim a long lineage, back to 1821, this is supported only by its own website - it would be great to have independent sourcing to support this. It would now be appropriate to link this page from others.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Klbrain}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)
