Hello Seawolf35, thanks for reviewing my set-up for the Spotler page. I've been reading your feedback about the secondary sources not being significant, reliable and/or independent enough. Can you please be more specific about this. Which ones are not significant, which ones are not reliable and which ones ore not independent. Are they all not good enough or just a couple. Please help me understand so I can improve and do things differently so that I do meet the Wikipedia criteria. Thanks! MvB Mark-eting (talk) 04:57, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

Hello MvB Mark-eting. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:MvB Mark-eting. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=MvB Mark-eting|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. bonadeacontributionstalk 20:31, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
Hello bonadea, I am not paid or compensated to make this specific page. I think since companies like Klaviyo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klaviyo), HubSpot (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HubSpot), Brevo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brevo), Salesforce (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salesforce), Mailjet (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mailjet) are given space to have their own Wikipedia page, a company like Spotler, being a Dutch/European alternative to these companies, should be granted a page as well, just to give a better view of the competitive landscape in marketing technology. And in many cases as an European alternative as well. So please guide me in what to do or improve to get this done. Thanks! MvB Mark-eting (talk) 08:59, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
Can I ask what you mean by "make this specific page"? Do you have any connection, in any capacity, to the company? Your user name suggests that you work with marketing.
It is a common misunderstanding that a Wikipedia article is in any way owned or controlled by the person/organisation/other that the article is about. Companies are (emphatically) not given "space" on Wikipedia, and an article about a company should be based on sources that are independent of the company itself. There are a lot of Wikipedia articles that do not meet the requirements, which is almost inevitable when pretty much anybody can edit. That doesn't mean it's appropriate to add article content that doesn't meet Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --bonadeacontributionstalk 11:09, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
Yes I am in marketing and I am Dutch, so it struck me that a original Dutch company in the same field as bigger mostly US companies was missing. So with all the info I could find online I tried to set-up the page. Can you help me make it right so that Spotler has a place / space as a Dutch player in the martech field on Wikipedia MvB Mark-eting (talk) 14:47, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
Thanks though for your your patience.
To clarify: I do have a professional connection to Spotler. I understand that this constitutes a conflict of interest under Wikipedia guidelines.
I apologise for not stating this clearly earlier. I will not edit the article directly going forward and will instead follow the recommended approach of proposing changes via the Articles for Creation process or on the talk page, based on independent sources.
Please let me know if there is anything further I should do. MvB Mark-eting (talk) 11:31, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
Following my earlier disclosure of a conflict of interest, I will not edit the draft directly.
Instead, I would like to propose an updated version of the article here, based on independent sources and written in a neutral tone.
In this revision I have:
>> reduced reliance on acquisition announcements
>> improved the use of independent sources
>> added more context about the company’s strategy and positioning
I would appreciate feedback on whether this version better meets Wikipedia’s notability and sourcing requirements.
Spotler is a European marketing technology company headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands. The company develops cloud-based software for marketing automation, email marketing, customer data management and digital customer communication.
The company originated from the Dutch email marketing businesses Blinker' and MailPlus. In November 2016, CNBB Venture Partners acquired a majority stake in their parent company, Bright Marketing Holding.[1][2] In 2017 the businesses were combined under the Spotler name.
Spotler operates as part of a broader European marketing technology landscape in which software providers offer tools for managing customer data, campaigns and digital communication across multiple channels.
== History ==
Spotler originated as an email marketing software provider in the Netherlands through the merger of Blinker and MailPlus in 2017.
In 2018, the company expanded into the United Kingdom through the acquisition of marketing automation platform CommuniGator.[3]
During the early 2020s, Spotler expanded across Europe through acquisitions in areas including customer data platforms, CRM software and marketing automation. Notable acquisitions included Webpower in 2020 and Squeezely in 2021.[4][5]
Industry coverage has described the company’s development as part of a broader consolidation trend within the European marketing technology sector.[6]
== Business model ==
Spotler operates as a marketing technology provider offering software for customer data management, marketing automation and digital communication.
According to an interview with Emerce, the company follows a "best-of-breed" strategy, combining specialised marketing technology platforms into a broader integrated ecosystem.[7]
This approach focuses on integrating multiple specialised tools, such as customer data platforms, messaging software and marketing automation systems, rather than developing a single unified platform.
== Software and services ==
Spotler develops cloud-based software used by organisations to manage marketing campaigns, customer data and digital communication channels.[8]
Its product portfolio includes tools for email marketing, marketing automation, transactional messaging, customer data platforms (CDPs), customer relationship management (CRM), website personalisation and chatbot communication.
In addition to software, the company provides implementation support, consultancy and training services for organisations deploying its technology.
Just checking if anyone has had a chance to review the proposed draft above. I would appreciate any feedback on whether it meets Wikipedia’s notability and sourcing guidelines. --MvB Mark-eting (talk) 09:35, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
== Resubmission note ==
An updated version of this draft has been incorporated following discussion on the talk page and edits by other contributors.
I have disclosed a conflict of interest and have not edited the article directly. Improvements were proposed on the talk page and subsequently integrated into the draft.
The current version relies on independent sources and presents the subject in a neutral, encyclopedic tone. I would appreciate a review to assess whether the article now meets Wikipedia’s notability and sourcing requirements. --MvB Mark-eting (talk) 11:34, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
