I recently found a disambiguation page Harry Allen where almost none of the articles have Template:About at the top? Was this intentional? Is there some kind of policy for this that I'm unaware of? Pattersonuwu (talk) 15:07, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

Per WP:DABLINKUG: It is usually preferable not to add disambiguation hatnotes to a page whose name already clearly distinguishes itself from the generic term.

It is possible some of the articles at that dab may qualify as being insufficiently disambiguated, such as the ones that are only differentiated by an initial, but even that can be subjective, as some editors may believe that they are sufficient. The ones with a parenthetical definitely do not need hatnotes. ASUKITE 15:11, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

No problem :) to further clarify – if it is plausible that a topic such as "John D. Smith" is only at that name because the initial was added as natural disambiguation, but sources tend to refer to them by the base name "John Smith", then it absolutely should have a hatnote. On your userpage, you have the code for a userbox about a singer named Minji, which links to Minji_(Singer). The article seems to be located at Minji (singer) (lower-case "s"), but this could be the unintended target and this is your userpage.
