Redirects

I undid your edit, as the page you converted was already a redirect to an article about that person. There is no reason to have two articles. Also, please do not mark such edits as minor. TornadoLGS (talk) 18:21, 12 November 2025 (UTC)

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to change the title of a page by cutting its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Information icon Hi PutABoatOnTheWater! I noticed that you recently made an edit at Presentation College Football and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. On Wikipedia, "minor edit" refers only to superficial edits that could never be disputed, such as fixing typos or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not minor, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Wikishovel (talk) 19:25, 12 November 2025 (UTC)

Feedback on editing

PutABoatOnTheWater, welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for your enthusiasm in building out the content related to Valley City State Vikings football. There are some issues with your editing I want to address.

First, you've uploaded a number of images, such as File:1949 VCSU Football Team.jpg, claiming they are your own work. "Own work" should not refer to your own work of screencapping an that you found on the internet. "Own work" refers to the person who took that photograph in 1949. I suspect that wasn't you!

Second, there are chronic formatting issues with the schedule tables you've been creating at articles like 1953 Valley City State Vikings football team. You don't want to link to articles like Minot State University there. You want to make use of Template:Cfb link there, which will link to the most relevant article available. Please see the edits I made to the schedule table at 2000 Valley City State Vikings football team.

Third, most of the articles you are creating lack independent sources that establish the notablity of the subject you are creating. You really should not create any new articles without these.

Before creating any new articles, I'd recommend that you work on cleaning up and improving the ones you've already created. Let me know if you have any questions about this stuff. Jweiss11 (talk) 05:32, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

AI use

Hello PutABoatOnTheWater, thank you for your work on here. However, you really shouldn't be using AI to write articles. Large language models should not be used to generate new Wikipedia articles from scratch. You're just scraping people's college bios together. I have noticed multiple 404 errors on links in your articles. There is no way you are manually writing out long articles like Scott Fuchs and Marty Costello in such a short amount of time without any typos. I always have typos when I write long articles. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 17:43, 5 December 2025 (UTC)

Thanks for the message and for reviewing the articles. I’m definitely still learning how things are done on Wikipedia and I appreciate the guidance. I’ll take your advice into account going forward and keep working to improve any content I add. If the community decides these pages shouldn’t remain, I understand and respect that process. Your submission at Articles for creation: 2021 Valley City State Vikings football team (December 9)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Hurricane Wind and Fire was:
This draft's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article. In summary, the draft needs multiple published sources that are:

Your submission at Articles for creation: Andy Carr (American football) (December 10)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by MCE89 were:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
Your draft shows signs of having been generated by a large language model, such as ChatGPT. Wikipedia guidelines prohibit the use of LLMs to write articles from scratch. In addition, LLM-generated articles usually have multiple quality issues, to include:
Please address these issues. The best way is usually to read reliable sources and summarize them, instead of using a large language model. See our help page on large language models.
The comment the reviewer left was:
This draft appears to contain hallucinated sources generated by AI. I can't find any sign of an article published by the AP with the title "Presentation's first football coach reflects on building program". There's also not yet sufficient evidence that Carr meets our notability guidelines.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.
