re my comment at AfD for The Cartoon

I explained it on the DRV page. Herostratus (talk) 14:12, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

OK, look, it's easy. The expression !vote, with the exclamation mark, means "not" vote (the exclamation mark standing for "not") and those are NOTAVOTEs because Voting is evil. The expressions Keep and Delete are opinions, not votes, and are generally discarded if they have no basic reasoning behind them, that is, without some explanation or rationale to convince the admin why it should be kept or deleted. :| TelCoNaSpVe :| 17:56, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
It may be called a "not" vote, or favouring or supporting, or notavote or any other invented word, the real effect was that Herostratus's comment was treated as supporting deletion despite his expressly stating "Keep". More generally, a poll brings about a transparent conclusion to a debate. Whether the debate was well-informed or ill-informed is another matter altogether. To replace a poll with subjective assessment by one or a few of the qualitative debate is a step towards tyranny and dictatorship. I'm not saying a poll is the best way to decide the deletion of an article, but it is a suitable tool for many purposes. Rainjar (talk) 08:37, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

United League (football)

I have created a page for the United League (football), written in my own words.

This is the third page I have created, the previous ones being the Retain and transfer system and Sheffield United Cricket Club.

Information icon Hello, I'm Dafootballguy. I noticed that you recently removed content from National Football Academy (Singapore) without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. In solidarity, Dafootballguy (Want to talk?) 01:56, 1 October 2026 (UTC)

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did at National Football Academy (Singapore), without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at National Football Academy (Singapore), you may be blocked from editing. I added reasons the second time and elaborated the third time, but it appears the reasons were not good enough. I have now I have proposed a split instead. Rainjar (talk) 10:02, 1 October 2026 (UTC)

LLM use

Are you using LLM for your content? The broken formatting and references, among other issues, are hallmarks of them. Aleain (talk) 12:03, 2 October 2026 (UTC)

No, I am typing it all out by hand, while researching online. I save regularly to avoid losing content. These were my additions under "Fans" subheader, which I see you have summarised:

While football is a popular sport in Singapore, most Singaporeans do not support the national team or a local club.[1]

Singaporeans tend to support European football[2], especially top English clubs such as Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC and Manchester United FC.[3]

As reported by ChannelNewsAsia in 2020 about Singaporean support for English clubs[4]:

".., a study has found that about half of all Singaporean football fans are still supporting the team that were successful during their childhood.

One in three said that they support a team because they liked their jersey, or kit.

The survey also found that family members play an influential role in shaping a football fan’s loyalty to a particular club, with three in 10 adopting the club that their family members, particularly fathers, supported.

And a vast majority of football fans said that they would try to persuade their children to support the same team."
