A certain deprecated archive site to access Sydney Morning Herald
I noticed you said that you used "the archive website that must not be named on Wikipedia" to access the Sydney Morning Herald in the ongoing Sydney Metro stations RM, presumably to bypass the paywall? I've noticed that sometimes while loading the actual article at smh.com.au, if you click the "stop loading this page" button in your browser before the page fully loads in, sometimes this works as well. Doesn't always work though, sometimes it depends on the timing of when you click the button as well. This sometimes also works for other paywalled sites. Fork99 (talk) 07:02, 7 September 2026 (UTC)
- As far as I’m aware there isn’t really any outright prohibition on mentioning AT (not seeing it on WP:ATODAY at least)? That being said upon reflection mentioning the site doesn’t really add anything to my comment (not sure why I wrote that remark in the first place) so I’ve removed it to avoid making it a distraction.
- Anyway, the reason I used the site was because I was more familiar with the site and its ability (so to speak) to remove paywalls, since Ghostarchive loaded very slowly and sometimes failed to archive when I tried it and Megalodon didn’t manage to bypass the paywall. I had UBlock installed on my devices in accordance with the advice on ATODAY so I think the harm should be mitigated. I could certainly try out your method in future though. Wikipedia:The Asia-Oceania Destubathon
Hi, you are invited to participate in the The Asia-Oceania Destubathon in November in support of Wikipedia:Asian Month. £2000 (about US$ 2,689.54) in prizes. We're hoping to see a lot of stub articles improved for Asian countries. If you are from a country in Asia or have a keen interest in contributing to Asia as you have with the Asian 10,000 Challenge, it would be great to have you on board. It's a good opportunity to be rewarded for your work on the country/countries you usually contribute on. All of the articles produced for Asia will be tipped into the Asian challenge in the end anyway, and we will likely then need to increase the 10,000 Challenge to a 20,000 Challenge as we've been doing so well! Sign up if interested! Even if not competing for prizes you are welcome to participate in it as an editathon. Thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:38, 24 September 2026 (UTC)
