Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Savile Club when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Hello, SaffronElectic, I'm Bearcat. Please note that pages in draft space, such as Draft:Radical Club (London) are not allowed to be categorized alongside finished articles in mainspace, per WP:DRAFTNOCAT. The page must stay out of any categories so long as it is outside mainspace, and this is not an optional rule that you're free to disregard or ignore.

You can provisionally list categories in your draft without affecting content categories by using one of the methods described here.

As the page has had to be pulled out of categories three times in just over one hour, do not readd it to categories again, because draft and sandbox pages are not allowed to be in content categories. Note as well that there can be consequences for disruption if it doesn't stop, such as page protection or deletion and/or the temporary or permanent suspension of your editing privileges. Thanks for reviewing the draft. It was the Eclectic Club, not the Eccentric Club — two unconnected bodies. The Eclectic Club was a short-lived radical debating society of "young barristers, authors, and artists" that met late at night in the Eclectic Hall, a former chapel behind Denmark Street in Soho; a number of its members broke away in 1868 to form what became the Savile. The Eccentric Club, by contrast, is a theatrical club refounded in 1890, so it post-dates the Savile's foundation by over twenty years and cannot be the body in question. The breakaway is sourced to The Savile Club 1868–1923 and to R. J. D. Harding, "Founders of the Savile Club (act. 1868–1872)", Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (2024). As there is no Wikipedia article on this Eclectic Club, I have unlinked the term so it is not confused with the unrelated Eccentric Club. SaffronElectic (talk) 18:09, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
