Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "TSWindustries", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it implies your username represents a company or group. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. For clarification, I'm just one individual, not a company. TSWindustries is the online alias I use for a lot of my stuff online (Wikimedia, OpenStreetMap, Video Games, etc.) TSWindustries (talk) 18:29, 21 June 2025 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Your account has been blocked from editing because your username gives the impression that the account represents a group, team, club, organization, company, product, department, or website. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Important items to note:

  • The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
    • You are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually. Examples include: "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".
  • The new username you choose cannot already be taken and used by another account. You can search here to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns, "There is no global account for [username]", that means it is available.

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, department, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Requested username:

TSWi (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)

Request reason:

I'd like as much consistency as I can get and the letters TSW are (still) my initials. Thank you!

Accept reason:

I attempted to rename you, but the name "TSW1" is taken, and the system does not allow names with similar characters in renames. However, I am removing the block because you did not edit about an entity called "TSW industries"- such a company does exist according to my search, but we usually only block for usernames when there is a connection between the editor and the subject of their editing. I would, however, suggest that you voluntarily change your username to avoid this problem in the future; I am happy to do so if you give a new choice. 331dot (talk) 20:47, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
Seeing as my field of interest is generally more Southeastern Virginia, the cities, and the history of the area, and I've no real interest in (what seems to be) a manufacturing company out of Ohio, do you think keeping the name as is will cause issues down the road, or would it only cause issues if I went and made a page about them (assuming one doesn't already exist)? TSWindustries (talk) 20:56, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
I would highly recommend that you change it to avoid grief in the future, as your current username is likely to be reported again and force you to defend it. I understand your desire for a single identity across the entire internet, but this is not always possible on a planet with 7 billion plus people and millions of companies. 331dot (talk) 21:23, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
True enough. It's a shame, but I will try and think of something. Thank you for your help. TSWindustries (talk) 21:25, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
