hey
Sorry if my removal edit description for the Ethiopia 8,000 figure seemed harsh. XTheBedrockX (talk) 07:17, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
- No need to worry about it, it was indeed above the total number of fatalities that ACLED offers on their site. Whitesin21 (talk) 09:26, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Llammakey. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Karakurt-class corvette have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. the sources say the ship cannot be independently confirmed as sunk Llammakey (talk) 15:03, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hey, sorry if my edit was not correct, I did not do it on purpose, I also saw a satellite imagery from Oryx so I assumed that it was indeed officially announced as sunk. Whitesin21 (talk) 15:07, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- That is fine, but Reuters said it could not independently confirm. We need that independent confirmation for Reuters/BBC etc. Llammakey (talk) 15:12, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- I understand. Whitesin21 (talk) 17:53, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

- Also, all of my changes are according to information taken from Haaretz and Times of Israel sources, these are my references, but I will add them as well in the future. Whitesin21 (talk) 23:41, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

Please explain data you've chose
this commit: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_ongoing_armed_conflicts&diff=prev&oldid=1323232145
how you get from 965 to 975 for Kashmir and from 975 to 985 with insurgencies in Baloch ..
Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Foledman (talk • contribs) 06:54, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, there were recent attacks in these areas, ACLED also reported on this, they also release some weekly updates as well from journalists on the ground. Whitesin21 (talk) 23:01, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- I guess the question by Foledman was not "Why the fatalities in the war keep increasing?", but instead "Where do you exactly get the number from?". I have the same question, as the ACLED explorer and dataset was already at ~2000 in November only for Balochistan, and ~5000 for Pakistan. What filters do you apply to get down to 985? Did you download the data from https://acleddata.com/aggregated/aggregated-data-asia-pacific? Miguel.lima (talk) 08:45, 14 December 2025 (UTC)
- I did, but most of the casualties are linked to the Afghan-Pakistani Conflict, this is also the case with other articles I find online, since the recent clashes with the TTP and Afghanistan are part of the Insurgency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, that's why I can't find any better source for casualties in the Insurgencies in Pakistan. If the Insurgency in Balochistan has 2.000 casualties for 2025, then I guess it should be moved to the Minor wars section? Whitesin21 (talk) 15:21, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- The entry says “Insurgencies in Pakistan” and includes Balochistan and others. So, for sure the number of fatalities is higher than 1.000.
- Bur the general concern of how to aggregate data and explain the result is applicable to all entries, not only these insurgencies. Miguel.lima (talk) 11:22, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
- I totally agree, the thing is that Afghan-Pakistani clashes, which are also part of the Insurgency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and in Balochistan, are present in both conflicts in the page, Afghan conflicts and insurgencies in Pakistan, since the parties involved are connected, it's not right to double count them and it's hard to find a source that clarifies this. Whitesin21 (talk) 16:37, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
- It is very difficult to assign fatalities to conflicts. This will happen with ACLED, with newspaper headlines, and with any other source we use in the page. This is why I don't understand the Rfc to ban ACLED while we keep doing the same for the other entries.
- But I see the concerns about WP:NOR, and I add my own concerns about transparency. We need to figure out a way to be consistent and transparent in the decissions to assign fatalities.
- Let's assume I also want to update the same page. If you follow a criteria different than mine then our updates will send the figures up and down alternatively. Miguel.lima (talk) 10:47, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
