Wade Wei Lin Chang MP (Chinese: 張瑋麟; born 1985 or 1986)[1] is a Taiwanese-born Canadian politician and lawyer who has served as a member of Parliament since 2025 in the riding of Burnaby Central.[2]
Political career
In the 2025 Canadian federal election held on April 28, 2025, he defeated the federal New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh.[3]
Chang is the second Taiwanese-Canadian to be elected to Canada’s federal government.[4] Chang is the first gay and Asian member of the Canadian parliament.[5]
Chang served on the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights from September 2025 to April 2026. From May 2026, he sits on the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration and the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities, with a focus on immigration, skill development and social inclusion.
