This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. The Monnickendam Diamonds Wikipedia page should not be taken down. Monnickendam is the last British diamond cutter, and the firm's continued activity demonstrates that it remains a relevant and notable subject.

Importantly, the company has continued to hire diamond cutters, showing that it remains an active business and is maintaining a specialist craft that has almost disappeared from Britain. This is not simply a historical company whose significance ended in the past.

The fact that the Wikipedia article was not regularly updated should not be taken as evidence that the firm was no longer relevant. In 2024, Monnickendam remained active and won the Princess Anne Training Award, demonstrating its continuing role in training and preserving specialist British craftsmanship. This achievement was widely reported in the jewellery trade press, including Professional Jeweller (https://www.professionaljeweller.com/uk-based-diamond-cutter-receives-royal-recognition/), and the firm's wider significance has also been discussed by The Telegraph in its coverage of British crafts at risk of being lost. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/family/life/british-crafts-lost-forever/

Furthermore, Monnickendam has a substantial international commercial presence. The company maintains more than 70 outlets in Japan selling its diamond jewellery, making Japan an important market for the firm. It is also the only British diamond company with this type of established retail presence in Japan. Taken together, Monnickendam's status as the last British diamond cutter, its continued hiring of diamond cutters, its 2024 Princess Anne Training Award, its extensive presence in Japan, and independent coverage in established publications provide strong evidence of its continuing relevance and notability.

The lack of regular updates to the Wikipedia article should therefore not be confused with a lack of notability. The article may need updating with recent, reliable sources, but deletion would remove information about a company that remains active and has a distinctive and significant place in British diamond-cutting history and contemporary craftsmanship.
