Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Science Fiction

UFOs are kind of trite at this point, and while certainly paramount in the popular imagination when it comes to science fiction, do it a disservice, as they are probably the least science fiction-y element of the entire genre. I would like to suggest replacing it with a machine, such as a computer or a robot, which are far more true to the genre. Another idea that comes to mind is an image that plays on the element of the unknown and unrecognizable, such as a wormhole, black hole, or other idea rooted in science but ever so removed from our everyday experience. At this point, the image of a nuts and bolts UFO has more to do with religion than science. Viriditas (talk) 23:07, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
