ザ・ダイアモンズ

1953年11月、タレントショーのオーディションを待っている間に、デイブ・サマービルはボーカル・グループと出会い、ザ・ダイアモンズを結成[3]。18か月に及ぶリハーサルを経て、ニューヨークに向かい、アーサー・ゴッドフレイのタレント・スカウトで同率1位を記録し、ゴッドフリーの番組に1週間ゲストとして出演したことをきっかけに、コーラル・レコードとレコーディング契約を締結。コーラルからはジェリー・リーバーとマイク・ストーラーが作曲を手がけた「Black Denim Trousers & Motorcycle Boots」を初めとした4曲が発売された[2]。
続いて、ビル・ランドルのオーディションに参加。ダイアモンズに感銘を受けたランドルは、マーキュリー・レコードのプロデューサーを紹介し、ダイアモンズとレコーディング契約を結ばせた[2]。1956年にマーキュリー・レコードよりフランキー・ライモン&ザ・ティーンエイジャーズの「恋は曲者」のカバー・バージョンを発売。同作が収録されたシングル盤は、全米で最高位12位を獲得し、続いて発売されたシングル『ザ・チャーチ・ベルズ・メイ・リング』（ウィローズのカバー曲）[2]は、全米で最高位14位を獲得した。
1950年代後半に、リード、コワルスキー、レヴィットが脱退し、後任としてマイク・ダグラス、ジョン・フェルトン、エヴァン・フィッシャーが加入[2]。その後も幾度かのメンバーの変遷を経て、活動を続けている。
