Draft:Combatants of the Spanish Civil War

The Spanish Civil War, lasting from 1936 to 1939, had a vast amount of different forces who fought for different goals. The Republican Faction, made up of socialists, communists, anarchists, liberals and Regional Nationalists, formed an uneasy coalition to fight the right-wing Nationalist Faction, made up of the Army, Falangists, Monarchists, Catholic Traditionalists, and African colonies. Both sides were supported by different foreign powers which range from limited aid to military intervention. In 1939, the Nationalists, led by Francisco Franco, secured victory and established a new regime. Bellow is a list of the make up of these factions.

• Comment: The inclusion criteria for this list seems to be very inconsistent, which had resulted in the list being very incomplete in some areas and over-emphasising others. This breaks down the international brigades to multiple levels and units, but does not do the same for the regular militaries of either the Nationalist or Republican armies. It misses out some of the major anarchist militias, while listing others that are not notable enough for an article. It erroneously describes multiple regional administrations which were run by coalitions as "anarchist". It lists non-combatants, such as the Friends of Durruti (a propaganda group) and claims broad international support for both factions. All of this largely without citing sources to demonstrate that any of these are actually combatants in the war.
