Magosto and Castañada/Castanyada are distinct traditions
As the title says - they are similar but different. Castanyada is more of a Catalan Countries thing (associated with All Saints Day), while Magosto is from the Iberian northwest, most popular in Galicia (associated with Samhain or Halloween). 95.18.76.205 (talk) 15:44, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
This page should be moved back to Castanyada
- It is the title with which the page was created. The user @Roinpa: changed it this edit, without exposing any arguments or looking for consensus in the discussion, to a Spanish version of the name and this change wasn't reverted.
- This Spanish name is not used, as the regions where this is celebrated use mostly the name in Portuguese, Galician, or in Catalan, if you check the results on Google Search for "Castanyada" against "Castañada" you get 1.290.000 against 266.000 results, for a language with a much lower number of speakers. The name Castañada is not used even in this article, and not even in the Spanish version of this page.
- Regardless of whether it should have its own page like other users propose in this page, this article basically talks about the Magusto, in Portugal and Galicia and the Castanyada in Catalonia.

Castañada → Castanyada – It is to revert an undiscussed move, but it is not recent so I'll ask it here. The move did not make any sense as now it is a translation and not the original name. The current name is not used in the article, nor even in the Spanish Wikipedia. (see Talk:Castañada) Holden M Caulfield (talk) 13:55, 9 October 2025 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). TarnishedPathtalk 09:08, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

- Support. The English-language refs I've seen use Castanyada. Station1 (talk) 21:42, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
