Q1: Why isn't the main article title Princess Diana?
A1: Diana was never Princess Diana. When she married Charles, Prince of Wales, she automatically became Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales. The use of Princess [Name] implies a princess of the blood royal (e.g. Princess Margaret). Following her divorce with Charles, she was referred to in an official capacity as Diana, Princess of Wales. Ice spice
the reference to ice spice under Diana's legacy seems extremely inappropriate to me. Just because a rapper wrote a lyric that mentions princess diana, now that rapper gets inclusion in Diana's legacy? That seems like it benefits Ice Spice much more so than having any relevance to Diana's legacy. Ice Spice seems completely irrelevant to Princess Diana's legacy. This seems like it would be more appropriate to mention in an Ice Spice page. Diana's legacy is not elevated or highlighted at all by Ice Spice name dropping her in a song. This seems to serve more as a way to shoehorn Ice Spice into Diana's Wikipedia page when it really does not belong. I truly don't believe being mentioned in an Ice Spice song moved the needle at all for Diana's legacy and certainly not enough to warrant a mention in Diana's Wikipedia. ~2025-43920-55 (talk) 09:50, 30 December 2025 (UTC)

Diana, Princess of Wales → Lady Diana Spencer – Diana is a historical figure and typically when we title deceased historical figures, we typically use the birth name. - The whole basis of the nomination is WP:OTHERSTUFF with the nominator pointing to another RM as rationale to have this page moved. It is entirely reasonable to provide counter examples. - Oppose per WP:NCPRINCES – "Do not use surnames in article titles for such persons [royalty other than monarchs]" – not WP:NCSUBSTANTIVE; Princess of Wales isn't a substantive title as it's acquired through marriage. WP:NCPRINCES also applies for Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother; Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester; and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. That naming convention doesn't take Elizabeth Woodville, Anne Neville, Anne Boleyn et al. into account, but does seem to be observed for more modern figures in British history.
