James Dean article copyediting
Hi, Shandog, I want to commend you for the excellent copyediting work you did on James Dean. I've been working sporadically on the article for years now, and I was well aware that it needed an overall copyediting, but I've been more concerned with filling some of the holes in his biography and ferreting out errors of fact. - I expected that pageviews of the article would increase a good bit that day, and they did. I don't know what event caused the big traffic spike on 27 January. If Jimmy's consciousness still exists somewhere and he can still check in on Earth, I imagine he's quite amused by all the fuss and speculation about his sexuality. - I understand what you're saying, but this is done consistently across every page I've seen that aren't redirects, so if it's discouraged, I'm not sure why it isn't being removed elsewhere. I was only following what seemed to be the norm, and to me the lead looks a bit odd without the bold, because introducing the person without it doesn't really make sense. I've taken it to the help desk for wider consensus.
- It makes sense to me, because the person's name is the title word or phrase — the article is about them and their disappearance — so bolding it in the lead seems appropriate. Someone at the help desk sent MOS:BOLD, and it basically says the same thing: "Boldface is often applied to the first occurrence of the article's title word or phrase in the lead."
