Suggestion to remove McCrindle's definition from leading paragraph.
Suggestion to do what the Generation Alpha article has done and remove McCrindle's definition from the lead, and leaving it in the date and range section since it's already there? It's too early to put a definition at the top of the article. This will also prevent future editing wars and circus clown antics that has happened in the past with the other generation articles. ChicagoGirlD (talk) 23:42, 9 September 2025 (UTC)
- I think it belongs in the lead. Unlike earlier generations, there is no debate about the date range. (Though there may be in the future.) McCrindle invented the term and every other source has used his definition, usually attributing it to him. Dan Bloch (talk) 00:35, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Ive been removing the reliance on this guy from the article as it is entirely sourced to just himself. Not reliable enough to feature prominently. Nixinova T ⁄ C 08:21, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- And having read that again, that's a bit of an insane comment. "There's no debate"...? Of course there is, there's only one date range because only one guy has been stupid enough to declare a date range before the first of his defined generation was even birthed... The Graph Should be updated
I believe the Grpah showing the Social Generation should be updated as it shows Generation Alpha as the Latest Generation Which is now False, It also tells the genearation alpha is still mid 2020 which is now outdated as we define generation Alpha as the people born till December 31, 2024 and people born from January 1,2025 are classified under Generation Beta ShabdTyagi23 (talk) 15:49, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
- Despite the media sensationism, the date range is not that exact yet, and we will only know well into the future what the exact transition years are. We've (societally) only just managed to get consensus for an end date for Gen Z, let alone an end date for the gen after it. Nixinova T ⁄ C 08:37, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
Living into the 22nd century
For the part that says "It is expected that many members of Generation Beta will live to see the 22nd century", someone should add "and may be alive during the 2120s." ~2026-35120-2 (talk) 23:35, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
Gen Beta range might change
Generational boundaries like “Gen Beta” aren’t fixed in real time but are defined retroactively based on major societal shifts, which is why its currently suggested range of 2025 to 2039 is likely to change. Gen Alpha’s defining traits of growing up with smartphones, tablets, and early algorithmic media, will only hold until a clear structural break occurs. If that transition happens in the late 2020s or early 2030s, it would make more sense for Gen Beta to begin around 2027 to 2030 and extend into the early 2040s and whose parents from Gen Z. Gen Beta’s final range will likely be set decades later once historians can clearly identify the societal phase change that distinguishes it from Gen Alpha. ~2026-35120-2 (talk) 23:50, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
- Wouldn't that lead to some Gen Alphas having Gen Beta Babies? ~2025-40115-56 (talk) 21:01, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
