The result of the move request was: editorial split. There seems to be support here for the editorial split that has already been started. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 17:13, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
History of Anatolia → History of Anatolia (400-1000) – To reflect the scope of this page. "History of Anatolia" should be about the general History of Anatolia, not the history of one specific period. Relisted. BDD (talk) 18:59, 27 December 2012 (UTC) Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 03:46, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- Support the current title should become a disambiguation page. -- 70.24.250.26 (talk) 06:16, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- A wp:broad-concept disambiguation page. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 06:27, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- Correction. Despite my opposition to using endashes in titles, that should be to History of Anatolia (400–1000). Apteva (talk) 22:21, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- Comment I took a better look at this page and it looks like it used to be about the History of Anatolia in general but then the Byzantine Empire section became so developed that it overwhelmed the rest of the article and then rather then spiting a Byzantine Anatolia article off from this one people started removing some non-Byzantine info from the article. At this point I think thing to do here would be to split the Byzantine section into it's own article and restore the non-Byzantine info that was removed. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 14:55, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Support a move as proposed or, better yet, to Byzantine Anatolia per nom contingent on the creation of a broad-concept disambiguation page or a disambiguation page. The edit history should stay with this current article, though. — AjaxSmack 21:50, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
- Comment: agree with Apteva on the endash. HandsomeFella (talk) 09:35, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
- I split off the section into Byzantine Anatolia. It looks like what happened was that User:Mgoodyear delvolped this article so much that he had to split it in four, Prehistory of Anatolia, Classical Anatolia, the pre-estsing History of Turkey, and this article about Byzantine, now at Byzantine Anatolia. I'll revert to the version of this article form before Mgoodyear devolved it as a quick fix, but what we're going to need to do is rewrite those four articles here in Wikipedia:Summary style. History of Anatolia → ? – This page stops at Medieval era.

- I think this page needs to be merged with History of Turkey, it seems to be duplication as some editors noted above back in 2019.
- This page: 1,504 words
- History of Turkey: 4,560 words
- Sources like this mention Turkey anachronistically when covering even the the Palaeolithic and Epipalaeolithic periods. There are already bunch of child articles such as Prehistory of Anatolia, Classical Anatolia, Byzantine Anatolia. There is also History of the Republic of Turkey.
- Is there any reason to keep this as a separate article? Bogazicili (talk) 13:49, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
- Merge to History of Turkey. Per above and Google ngrams seems clear: Bogazicili (talk) 14:10, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
- This article seems to be a Wikipedia:Coatrack article.
- There are no Ottoman Empire and Republic of Turkey sections. Coverage of Beyliks are minimal (History_of_Anatolia#Breakaway_successor_states_and_the_fall)
- These are major WP:NPOV issues. Bogazicili (talk) 10:33, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose -- Anatolia and Turkey are distinct both geographically and politically. The historic and consensus definition of Anatolia maps specifically to the Western half of Turkey. Anatolia is a region that pre-dates that of the Republic of Turkey (as well as its Ottoman predecessor). The purpose of keeping this article as separate from that of Turkey is that Anatolia has been inhabited and ruled by various peoples, empires, and principalities beyond that of just Turkey and Turks (e.g., Byzantines, Greeks, Celicians, Armenians, etc). Greensminded24 (talk)
- Pretty much all lands were inhabited and ruled by various peoples. For example, Pelasgians predate Greeks and Urartians predate Armenians. Yet we do not have History of Armenian highlands or History of Morea. We also have sub articles such as Classical Anatolia. Bogazicili (talk) 09:56, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

- Oppose It ends at the medieval era because that is when the Ottomans took root. Turkey did not exist before the Ottoman Empire and arguably didnt exist until it collapsed. So History of Anatolia is correct. ← Metallurgist (talk) 01:37, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose – For reasons mentioned above; Anatolia (geography where multiple cultures existed, e.g., celts, slavs, Greeks, etc.) is not the same as Turkey (corresponding to a singular cultural origin that appeared in middle ages). A.Cython (talk) 02:08, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
Add modern history or give the page a more precise name
1. Add modern history including Ottoman era, Ottoman collapse, modern Turkey, etc. Some of this is in a list at the end, but this needs some dates added to be a more useful overview.
2. Give the page a more precise name and put the pages that cover modern history in easy to find places at both the top and bottom of the page.

- An RfC is better designed with clearer alternatives of actions. Either draft number 1 or suggest names for number 2. Kingsacrificer (talk) 12:55, 25 October 2025 (UTC)
- Discuss normally please, before jumping straight into a full-blown thirty-day formal RfC. Also, see WP:RFCBEFORE and WP:RFCNOT. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 11:40, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
