Suggestion to add a section on Pashtun dynasties and empires

Hi, I noticed that the Pashtun article currently doesn’t include information about historically significant Pashtun dynasties and empires.

Several dynasties of confirmed Pashtun origin played important roles in South Asian history, including:

Lodi dynasty (1451–1526) – Delhi Sultanate; founded by Bahlul Lodi.

Suri dynasty (1540–1556) – Northern India; founded by Sher Shah Suri.

Karrani dynasty (1564–1576) – Bengal Sultanate; founded by Taj Khan Karrani.

Hotak dynasty (1709–1738) – Ruled parts of Iran and Afghanistan.

Durrani Empire (1747–1823) – Founded by Ahmad Shah Durrani.

Barakzai dynasty (1823–1973) – Ruled Afghanistan.

I suggest either:

Adding a dedicated section called “Pashtun Dynasties and Empires”, or

Including them chronologically under the History section according to their dates of rule. ~2026-19748-7 (talk) 20:21, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

History of non Muslims in Pashtun belt

The sheen khalai pashto speaking hindu community in Rajasthan are not pashtun but Punjabi. Their surnames are Batra, advani, gulati, kakkar etc. The community always historically claimed to be Punjabi (khatri-arora) not pashtun even they lived in pashtun belt. They always maintained their Punjabi identity in pashtun belt. All the non Muslims living in the pashtun belt of Afghanistan and Pakistan belong predominantly to Punjabi ethnic group who migrated to pashtun areas as traders or business people.Others non Muslims belong to Sindhi and hindkowan ethnicity. Only few years back shilpi batra advani started to claim that she and her community are Hindu pashtun because she and her community spoke pashto and were from pashtun majority areas of Balochistan. When the sheen khalai Hindus were previously in pashtun areas of Balochistan they were treated by the Muslim pashtuns of the specific area as honored guests. They were granted hamsaya(protection) by the kakar pashtuns because they were non pashtuns and this type of protection is given only to the non pashtuns. This types of claims are made to show others that 'we have an unique identity'. In Indian society many Muslims claim to be pashtuns or sayyid Arabs to increase their social identity as caste system existed both in Hindus and Muslims in India. In India pashtuns are considered as a superior ethnic group. That's why these types of claims are made by both Hindus and Muslim. Anyone who speaks Pashto or is from Pashtun belt does not makes anyone pashtun. Many non Muslims and non pashtuns have lived in the pashtun belt historically.I hope changes will be done regarding this. Amaan Chandkhan Pathan (talk) 16:21, 1 May 2026 (UTC)

Afghanistan

I would like to add the fact that pashtuns arent just in southern and eastern Afghanistan but are also in different parts of westen afghanistan specificallly in farah , herat and badghis and also northern afghanistan like kunduz , kapisa , parwan etc so you should not just write only southern and eastern afghanistan but instead whole afghanistan i mean you should write that pashtuns are an ethnic group in afghanistan and western and north western pakistan. plus another thing the map is wrong it shows areas of swabi , kohat , karak etc as punjabi meanwhile these are strong pashtun holds inclduing me as i am from swabi myself ~2026-38695-28 (talk) 19:15, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
