Divorce
Why, when a source clearly indicates Sallis is divorced, do editors keep removing the statement? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.24.34.114 (talk • contribs)
- 92.24.34.114, you might consider directly asking the people who remove it. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 01:05, 6 April 2016 (UTC)
- Reinvigorating this discussion, this source does not say that Sallis divorced Usher, it only says "Peter tells me he lived in Potters Bar for six years before he divorced and has good memories of Hertfordshire." This article was written in 2007. There is no mention of who he divorced. Conversely, in this 2011 article it mentions Sallis being married to Usher, "his wife of over 50 years ... who he married in 1957." So there's clearly some ambiguity there, and it's conceivable that Sallis had been married before--he was about 36 in 1957. Until we can find a source that explicitly states he divorced Usher, I think it's interpretive to include the claim. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:50, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

other voice work
dont want to be vandalising someone elses edits , but would just like it to be made aware that he was the voice of jim in a bbc radio 4 adaptation of briggs "when the wind blows" in 1983 ...as is mentioned here http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/inspiration/profile_raymond_briggs.shtml and here http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/9144b6c80b9b4c7c97d8da016c46f047 2.24.132.243 (talk) 19:03, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

Later Career
This section states:
Sallis played the role of Clegg from 1973 to 2010, and was the only cast member to appear in every episode. Later, he appeared as Clegg's father in First of the Summer Wine (1988),[8] a prequel to Last of the Summer Wine set in 1939.
This seems rather clumsily worded as it seems to infer that 1988 is later than 2010.208.81.28.208 (talk) 14:35, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
- I think most people would know that 2010 is later than 1988. But maybe it could say "He also appeared, in 1988, as Cleggs' father ..."? Martinevans123 (talk) 14:44, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
Recent hoax editing
Since November 2023, a London-based IP range has made about twenty million edits to this article, including the addition of a widespread hoax that Sallis had an "uncredited" role in Rex the Runt. I scoured the search function at bfi.org.uk (the source given for many credits on the tables) and, as I thought, no such credit. Therefore, every single addition by the IP should be viewed as potential hoax material. They keep linkspamming a site – en.kinorium.com – which appears to be nothing more than a fancy aggregator. I encourage anyone with a bit of time to waste to verify as much as they can. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 20:16, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
- The IP has now returned and is using this VOD site as a source. Again, completely unreliable. Revert on sight. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 00:04, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

How big should his filmography be?
There's been so many films and series added recently that it's getting out of hand, especially with all the citations to BFI - should it be paired down to a selected filmography? Harryhenry1 (talk) 08:25, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- Strongly agree that it needs to be toned down. I've only got this article watchlisted because of the above hoaxter vandal, so anything that makes it easier to verify new additions would be welcome. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 13:12, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- I don't doubt most of the additions in terms of them being correct, but I'm not sure what criteria we should be using here since I haven't done something like this before. Harryhenry1 (talk) 14:52, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
Personal life information
I found a peace of information from Peter Sallis life that I think should be added to his Wikipedia page. In 2006 he was a victim involved in a scam. 81.150.78.235 (talk) 15:03, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Without reliable sourcing, that unspecified claim will not be added as unreferenced claims are a clear violation of WP:BLP and subject to removal without question. It is on you to provide the references. Additionally, you have not stated this in a change X to Y format, so no one has any idea what you are talking about. I’d like to request for the occupations of voice actor and singer to be removed from his occupation section in the infobox. Because in his career section, it says nothing about him as a professional singer, just an actor. Also the term “Actor” already covers both his live action and voice over roles, therefore “voice actor” it doesn’t need to be included because he only has a few voice acting credits. ~2025-38997-36 (talk) 00:00, 8 December 2025 (UTC)
Partly done: I removed "singer". The article extensively discusses his career as a voice actor, and voice acting is a specialized form of acting, so it should remain. Day Creature (talk) 04:50, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

Since the occupation singer has been removed since his career section says nothing about him as a singer, his voice actor occupation in the infobox needs to be fixed because the first letters in them are in capital letters. Both the A and V letters need to be lowercased, please kindly correct this mistake please. ~2025-39269-27 (talk) 16:09, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

Added information
Can Peter Sallis Wikipedia page be unblocked because I'd like to add this bit of information about him from this link = https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cumbria/4611052.stm~2025-44185-93 (talk) 20:33, 31 December 2025 (UTC)
Query: Television credits, 2003
Hello, I would like to cross check this with anybody else who is available and interested. Having watched these two listed television episodes from 2003, I do not believe they actually feature the actor Peter Sallis, unless I am mistaken. These are:
Balamory - Man at Train Station, Episode: "Snowflake Fairy" Sooty (voice) Episode: "Sooty's Ghost"
If anybody else can verify whether or not I am correct, it would be much appreciated. If I am correct, could the appropriate edit be made to remove these credits? I am very happy to be shown or linked to evidence proving he was in these episodes. Kindest regards. Bowtieanimation (talk) 20:59, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- I'm not sure either... I know a (now banned) user edited this article a lot, and in doing so added dubious credits that might not be accurate. Harryhenry1 (talk) 06:56, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- That's interesting, many thanks. I'll submit an edit request now, as I'm confident those two additions specifically are inaccurate. Bowtieanimation (talk) 08:57, 22 January 2026 (UTC)

Remove two specific incorrect credits from the television section on the page for actor Peter Sallis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Sallis I have watched the listed programme and they do not feature the actor as indicated, so are incorrect. Citation: Balamory 'The Snowflake Fairy' (2003), Sooty 'Sooty's Ghost' (2003), TV broadcasts uploaded to YouTube. References
Not done for now: These two items are sourced to the British Film Institute archive - which is considered a reliable source. Whereas, while this might seem strange, although the episodes appear on YouTube, the website itself is not reliable and not every person appearing in films or television necessarily appears in the credits. If the British Film archive does not in fact indicate that Sallis appeared in those shows, that would be grounds to remove the text. In this case, I'm making a good faith assumption that the information in the reliable source has been conveyed accurately. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 12:50, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
- That's very fair, many thanks for taking time to look into this, it is much appreciated. Bowtieanimation (talk) 13:32, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
- Checking the BFI source itself, I can't seem to find some of the supposed "uncredited" roles, like for Balamory and Auntie's Golden Bloomers. He isn't listed as in those projects at all, and given that the banned user's source is just a search result on the BFI website, some of these entries seem very dubious. Harryhenry1 (talk) 03:45, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
- That's very interesting. I think if even the BFI credits can't be verified, and that they contradict the content of the programmes themselves - not only is Sallis not credited, no voiceover or appearance from him is evident - it stands out as erroneous information. Bowtieanimation (talk) 09:17, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
- I have since checked the BFI source in light of Harryhenry1's observation, and seriously question its accuracy. Sallis is credited here as appearing in various projects he is clearly not ever been involved in, and if the BFI archive does not even mention the credits for Balamory and Auntie's Golden Bloomers, how can this be a verified source for those credits on the Wikipedia page?
