This is totally UNFAIR that Syria Satellite Channel stopped broadcasting on Hot Bird! We really want that Syria Satellite Channel once again will be available on Hot Bird! :'( --178.174.228.60 (talk) 22:05, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

@Riad Salih: could you made a logo replacing the red with the green from Nur As-sham? Source. Panam2014 (talk) 19:53, 11 December 2024 (UTC)

Requested move 22 December 2024

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: no consensus. Noting that I've also reviewed the argument by the requester, and the commentary from other editors when this was logged as a technical request, and the possible ambiguity around the sources provided. I'm not inclined to relist this discussion again, I would recommend a future requested move has a more detailed rationale to allow other contributors to weigh in and provide input. Syria TVSyria (TV channel) – Based on its Arabic origin and the text of this article, its correct name should be Syria rather than "Syria TV", the latter being a Turkish-based television station whose stance was opposed during the Ba'athist regime. Manilano12 (talk) 12:38, 18 February 2026 (UTC)

  • Weak Support - per nom.Oppose - Logo says "SYRIA TV" even with Arabic origins. The other Syria TV is already disambiguated. Support move to Al-Souriya TV - the Syrian TV channel was relaunched on that name. NeoSyria\Freedoxm (talk · contribs) 04:44, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
The station's logo, "السورية," means "Syria," not "Syria TV." This is different from another media outlet; it cannot be mistaken for a media outlet named Syria TV simply because its name includes "Syria." Manilano12 (talk) 01:40, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
  • Oppose The proposed name is a non-naturally-disambiguated downgrade. I note that names of television channels and radio stations are not italicized. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 23:50, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
The use of italics in media outlet names is a Wikipedia convention and does not imply that the media outlet itself uses italics, just like the headlines of media outlets such as The New York Times. Manilano12 (talk) 01:37, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
@Manilano12, Freedoxm, and Sammi Brie: the page should be moved to Al-Souriya TV. Syria TV was only on the project. Panam2014 (talk) 21:11, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
السورية means "The Syrian" = Al-Souriya, not Syria. Panam2014 (talk) 21:20, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
I striked my two initial opinions; I support this new WP:BARTENDER move request. NeoSyria\Freedoxm (talk · contribs) 04:45, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
