Ways to improve Podcast Index

Hello, Back ache,

Thank you for creating Podcast Index.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

The sourcing is rather sparse and the references seem to be routine announcements. Note that Wikipedia is not a directory.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Klbrain}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Klbrain (talk) 05:09, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

It's a translation of an existing article which is, in itself admitted sparse. I am part of the group of wiki-ians looking to improve the coverage in the wikiverse and this website is part of that and has an associated property https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P11740 I'll have a look but its really intended as a stub rather something I am going to write a lot about myself. I have looked in the history and it was me adding that has electric car charger, I checked back using the wayback machine to look at the text and reference I supplied, though the ref' confirms what the text is saying, they are not the same https://web.archive.org/web/20120328035408/http://connevted.blogspot.com/2011/07/uks-first-electric-highway-announced.html
What are you using they says I did? If your system is giving false-positives and using aggressive language, that's not good for our community
I appreciate your effort and the need to use automation but you have to "keep an eye" on what its doing
Back ache (talk) 11:40, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
Hello @Back ache, I didn't use any automation to find it (the advisory above is a generic template, but I use it because everything I want to say is on there). What raised an eyebrow for me was the fact Exeter is 'west' when it's actually a city on our southern coast (most would say it's "south west", not firmly west). So I compared what was being said with the source.
You wrote here: "Ecotricity will be providing fast and normal electric vechile charging stations at 14 of the service stations, linking London in the south with Exeter in the west and Edinburgh in the north."
The source wrote: "Under the terms of the deal, Ecotricity will provide fast and normal charging stations at 14 Welcome Break service stations, linking London in the south with Exeter in the west and Edinburgh in the north."
Some people have a habit of copying the whole sentence and then only changing the tenses to make sense in context. This is what I believed happened here, and the reason I decided it's worth putting the warning on your Talk page even 15 years later is because, if I was doing it, I would also want to be informed that it's a habit I should break. :) It's best to put the concept into different words entirely.
The only automation I used was WikiBlame to figure out who added it to the page -- after seeing for myself that it's very close to the source. Komonzia (talk) 12:19, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
It was along time ago, and weird as it may seem, "fast chargers" were a unique feature at places like this, I imagine (knowing me) I was being "completionist" back-filling all the motorway service stations that had them (and so typo's can creep in) as I too use tools as helpers rather than "do-er's" .
I would have a think about that template test though as whilst pr puffers might deserve it, the regular wikipedian's (or newbies especially) could be a little irked by it :-)
Keep up the good work
Neil :-)

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Hotel Terme Millepini when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Welcome to Wikipedia from WikiProject Medicine!

Welcome to Wikipedia and WikiProject Medicine

Welcome to Wikipedia from WikiProject Medicine (also known as WPMED).

We're a group of editors who want to improve the quality of medical articles here on Wikipedia. I noticed that you are interested in editing medical articles, such as your edits to the article Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder; it's great to have a new editor on board. In your wiki-voyages, a few things that may be relevant to editing Wikipedia articles are:

  • Thanks for coming aboard! We always appreciate a new editor. Feel free to leave us a message at any time on our talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the group's talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some help!
  • Sourcing of medical and health-related content on Wikipedia is guided by our medical sourcing guidelines, commonly referred to as MEDRS. These guidelines typically require recent secondary sources to support information. Primary sources (case studies, case reports, research studies) are rarely used, especially if the primary sources are produced by the organisation or individual who is promoting a claim.
  • The Wikipedia community includes a wide variety of editors with different interests, skills, and knowledge. We all manage to get along through a lot of discussion that happens behind the scenes and through the editing policy. If you encounter any problems, you can discuss them on an article's talk page or post a message on the WPMED talk page.

Feel free to drop a note on my talk page if you have any questions. I wish you all the best, and thank you for your help! Garzfoth (talk) 13:58, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm Garzfoth. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, but you didn't provide a reliable source. On Wikipedia, it's important that article content be verifiable. If you'd like to resubmit your change with a citation, your edit is archived in the page history. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Blatant WP:MEDRS violations. The one MEDRS-compliant ref that was used could be salvaged for use in expanding the "Emotional dysregulation" sub-section (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder#Emotional_dysregulation). The other ref should never have been added in the first place, and neither should all of the RSD-specific claims (unless a MEDRS-compliant source can be found for them). Please go read through the entirety of WP:MEDRS before making any further edits to any articles in the biomedical topic area (including the ADHD article)! Garzfoth (talk) 14:01, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

GarzfothI have RSD so please be extra nice to me :-)
The text is from the equivalent article on the dutch wikipedia.
Anyway I am going to back away now.

Information icon Hello, I'm Belbury. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Look Mum No Computer, but you didn't provide a reliable source. On Wikipedia, it's important that article content be verifiable. If you'd like to resubmit your change with a citation, your edit is archived in the page history. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Wikipedia shouldn't use primary records like Companies House for a biography, especially for WP:BLPDOBs, per WP:BLPPRIMARY. I also couldn't see Grantham mentioned in that BBC source anywhere? Belbury (talk) 08:43, 8 March 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for finding a Grantham source.
Wikipedia strives to be particularly careful with dates of birth per WP:BLPDOB, though. Since many people regard their full names and dates of birth as private we only use a date that's been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object to the details being made public. If Battle is deliberately avoiding sharing his exact date of birth with the public, there's not much we can do about that.
It might be worth checking his social media, if he has any, to see if he does actually explicitly acknowledge any birthdays when they happen. Belbury (talk) 14:17, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
Ah, sorry to be a pain on this, I should have linked to the policy section. WP:ABOUTSELF social media sources are okay for quoting what someone says about themselves (if they're not making too surprising a claim), but we can't use it for what they say about someone else - so his sister's Instagram post can't, by itself, be used to source the family connection. Belbury (talk) 11:01, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
np, sadly "easier said than done" as social media seems to be their thing, I'll keep looking Back ache (talk) 11:28, 9 March 2026 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Look Mum No Computer, a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hainbach was added.

(Opt-out instructions.) --DPL bot (talk) 21:50, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
