Hey @Ldm1954, saw your G15 nom of Vignesh Kumaravel. You may want to bring the Dropkin26 (talk · contribs) user up on WP:AIN, the speed at which they're creating new articles and drafts is alarming on its own. ‑‑gurkubondinn 12:38, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- I asked them about COI/UPE on their talk page, and am waiting for a response. If they do more page creation and don't respond I will go to ANI; we should always warn at least once. Ldm1954 (talk) 12:49, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Sorry, I meant AIN (AINB or LLMN, Wikipedia:AI noticeboard), but ANI definitely makes sense over the UPE/COI concerns. ‑‑gurkubondinn 12:53, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- At a glance, I found an inconsistency in Marcin Kamiński (professor of technical sciences). Reference nr. 9 uses doi:10.1002/9781118481844.ch3, which points to chapter 3 ("Stochastic Boundary Element Method"), but the reference is titled by the book ("The Stochastic Perturbation Method for Computational Mechanics") and it doesn't reference a page number (or chapter). ‑‑gurkubondinn 12:52, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- I will check that one later today. If you see more evidence of AI please send them to AfD or CSD and let me know. I have already sent many of them to AfD, but may have missed some.
- N.B., I also warned them about AI, so they are on thin ice. Ldm1954 (talk) 13:16, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- I've added the ones at AfD to the WP:DSAIGEN deletion sorting for now. ‑‑gurkubondinn 13:17, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Technically, you welcomed them with the
{{welcome-llm}}template, which does put them into Category:User talk pages with large language model notices. Which is also a good approach, I'm just being nitpicky here about "warned them". ‑‑gurkubondinn 13:22, 29 July 2026 (UTC)- 🤔 Ldm1954 (talk) 13:40, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Never used their own talk page.. ‑‑gurkubondinn 13:46, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- I AfD'd Marcin as well. The DOI on that ref was wrong, but otherwise it was right. Add an LLM tag if you want, I don't have evidence so I won't. Ldm1954 (talk) 14:33, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Same, I don't feel like I have anything strong enough to support a tag with. Not that I have found yet at least. Adding DSAIGEN is fine though, I think, because it is specifically sorting something suspected. ‑‑gurkubondinn 14:55, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Unrelated, how do you add the classification? At times I want to add other projects to AfD's, and doing it by hand is boring. Ldm1954 (talk) 15:32, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- I just use this userscript that I found: User:EnterpriseyBot/delsort. Think I found it on WP:USL. ‑‑gurkubondinn 16:16, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

Reversion of Quantum chemistry
Hello Ldm1954,
I see that you recently reverted an edit I made to Quantum chemistry. I'd like to check in with you to better understand why.
In particular, your reversion description says I introduced "weasel words". This absolutely might be true! I'd like to know which specific instances you noticed. I tend to edit for sentence structure and readability. This always runs the risk of introducing errors, though I do my best to maintain original meaning. If there was just an instance or two of questionable edit, a case-by-case correction would be preferred to a full article reversion.
Also, on a more minor note, I removed what I considered "excessive links" based on the caliber of the article. A reader of "quantum chemistry" will most likely know what e.g. an 'atom' or 'chemical reaction' is. Whereas, I linked 'adiabatic process', as this is a more technical and relevant concept. (As per MOS:OVERLINK.)
Thanks for your consideration. Jayowyn (talk) 16:34, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- Three common problems are:
- In many science articles particular words have meanings that are different from common usage.
- If there are many changes all at once then it can be hard to take some and leave others.
- As some examples
- In the 2nd sentence "Approximate calculations" means that they are not that accurate. For instance if I measure a distance by walking I can approximately get it. That is different from "make approximations" which is more skipping a step to get a quicker answer. They are slightly different.
- Later. "can consist" is different from "consists", the latter is more definitive and would be a definite opinion.
- I am not sure now why I added weasel. and looking at them now your edits were not so bad that I would revert them again. I must have been tired, or someone had just annoyed me. My apologies.
- (I left the 3 in just ion case.) Ldm1954 (talk) 17:09, 31 July 2026 (UTC)

- Thank you for your careful reply. I agree with the common problems you point out. You're right about the subtle difference in interpretation. I'll take another pass at my edits before I reinstate them.
- On a separate note, thank you very much for contributing your professional expertise to Wikipedia. Cheers. Jayowyn (talk) 01:25, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

Feedback on Declined Draft
Dear Ldm1954,
I appreciate you taking time to review a recent draft submitted to Wikipedia (Draft:Norberto M. Grzywacz). Feedback from experienced editors is essential to increase the quality of the articles. Such feedback is especially useful for me because I am a new user of Wikipedia. I am thus hoping that you can give me some feedback about the reasons for the decision to decline the draft. The comment accompanying this decision is, “This draft is not written from a neutral point of view.” Would it be possible for you to give more details on what passages in the draft lack neutrality?
Thank you,
CMCNMG CMCNMG (talk) 17:19, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- I suggest reading this BLP guide. As stated in the comment, this is an essay on how wonderful he is, not an encyclopedic article. A few points:
- The whole section #Academic leadership is mainly promo and should be removed.
- 40 sources in research is excessive, 10 at most. No resume.
- Except for Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering the awards are very minor
- Are you one of his staff? Read WP:COI.
- Ldm1954 (talk) 17:30, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for getting back to me. I will follow your suggestions by removing the Academic Leadership section, reducing the number of research references, and removing most of the awards from the page. I will also follow the suggestions in the BLP guide, which is clear and useful. Unfortunately, I did not know that this guide existed until you mentioned it.
- As for your last question, I am not and have not been in Dr. Grzywacz’s staff. We first crossed paths in the eighties when I was working at Harvard and attended a lecture he gave at MIT. Later, we crossed paths again around 2012, when coincidentally, he was at USC and I was working at UCLA. I again attended one of his lectures. I found his work and his vision fascinating, and perhaps, this is why my first draft was, “on how wonderful he is, not an encyclopedic article." But I will fix the second draft following your suggestions and with some luck, I will do a better job.
- I will let you know when the second draft is ready.
- Thank you again.
- CMCNMG (talk) 15:55, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Dear Ldm1954,
- Thank you again for your suggestions on how to edit the draft (Draft:Norberto M. Grzywacz) to give it a neutral point of view. As you suggested, I removed the academic leadership section, reduced the number of sources in research, and eliminated minor awards. I've just resubmitted the draft and wonder if you can tell me whether the resubmission has achieved the standards of an encyclopedic article.
- Thank you,
- CMCNMG (talk) 16:04, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- Dear Ldm1954,
- Thank you again for the comments posted at the top of the draft. As you suggested, I added sources to the Brazil and Israel parts, the Honors section, and the retinal prothesis and the Wallace H Coulter Foundation passages. I also scanned the draft for missing sources and found and added another one (Georgetown-Santander partnership).
- As for your notability point, I thank you for raising the matter. Dr. Grzywacz has not published any book (I hope he gets to it some day). However, I would like to point out two factors that may be used to argue for notability: First, his research is now being mentioned by major newspapers across the world. For example, in May, he was interviewed by the Sueddeutsche Zeitung, the leading daily national newspaper in Germany, about his work on social conformity of values. Earlier in the year, he was interviewed by the New York times. He has also been interviewed by newspapers in Italy, Great Britain, and Russia. The reason for these interviews is that the topics that he is covering with cognitive neuroscience address key points related to culture. Several but not all these newspaper sources appear in the draft. I did not include all the sources for fear of making the draft feel like a promo, instead of keeping the article encyclopedic. Second, I analyzed his publication metrics and found that both the number of his citations and his h-indices are high in his field of study, namely, computational cognitive neuroscience. The h-index of 43 puts his h-index in the top 5 percentile in this field. In addition, articles that analyze such percentiles for academic leaders like Dr. Grzywacz say that such numbers are rare because high-level administrators tend to slow down or stop their research. The articles thus suggest that such high-level academic leaders are notable in balancing their administrative duties with research. I added this h-index information and an article source in the draft. Hopefully, you find this information well balanced.
- I would appreciate if you can have a look at the latest changes to see if I am getting closer to a good draft.
- Thank you,
- CMCNMG (talk) 19:45, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- I forgot to mention that although "being a provost may not be enough," Dr. Grzywacz was interviewed by several major news outlets in relation to the decisions made during his administrative time. Examples of these outlets include CBS News, The Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun Times, and the New York Times

- I had a quick look at it is again improved. I rarely review a second time, I dont want there to be any confirmation bias. (If it remains unreviewed for 4-6 weeks ping me and I will look at it.) I don't know if a reviewer will like your argument about his publications, they may consider that to be your opinion and not WP:NPOV. You might want to move that part to the talk page. Ldm1954 (talk) 20:47, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your sustained help, Ldm1954! I understand why you prefer not to review a second time because of.confirmation bias. (BTW, I've been reading the cognitive literature on confirmation bias and the mechanisms are powerful and fascinating) If no review happens in the next four to six weeks, I'll take you up on your offer and contact you again.
- Incidentally, I'll follow your suggestion and move the h-index argument to the talk page.

Alon Gany's review
Thanks for your careful review and edits. I appreciate the concise style you brought to the article.
Would you be open to reconsider a few sentences you omitted?
Mentoring and supervision: Gany has supervised over 100 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students at the Technion. This is a significant aspect of his academic career and is directly reflected in the citation for the Wyld Award, which recognizes his "sustained excellence in educating generations of propulsion experts." The figure is explicitly stated in the Technion's announcement of the award: https://aerospace.technion.ac.il/news/professor-emeritus-alon-gany-receives-the-prestigious-wyld-propulsion-award/
Scientific contributions: I think the article would benefit from retaining another sentence that describes Gany's research contributions, rather than only listing his research fields. Specifically: "Gany is recognized for his work on metalized propellants and solid and hybrid rocket fuels incorporating metals." This is supported by the Wyld Award citation (ref. 10).
Gany’s personal info: “Gany is married to Ruth. They have 3 children and 9 grandchildren and live in Haifa”. A source for this claim is his CV in The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities (ref #1).

- Sorry, but no too all:
- All senior academics mentor significant numbers of MS & PhD students. That is routine, see WP:MILL.
- That is boasting, aka WP:PEACOCK. The existing quote on the award is OK Your addition is not.
- We only include information such as family if they are notable, i.e. have Wikipedia pages.

Page mover granted

Hello, Ldm1954. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! -- Reconrabbit (talk) 16:29, 17 August 2026 (UTC)
- I granted this permission to alleviate the administrative workload and other issues that may arise when draftifying articles. It's also useful when working with older articles in the patrol queue that have been subject to inappropriate moves. If you would prefer not to have this permission I will revoke it on request. -- Reconrabbit (talk) 16:29, 17 August 2026 (UTC)
