File:X Press - 035 17 October 1986 0000.jpg

Hi @Stevene1919. I saw you uploaded this X-Press Magazine cover to Commons under public domain. Are you sure this is correct? Magazine covers aren't automatically public domain so I'm concerned this is a copyrighted work. If it is still in copyright, you might need to have it deleted. Instead, a low res version could be added to Wikipedia as a Fair Use upload. Jimmyjrg (talk) 17:47, 7 June 2025 (UTC)

Hi, @Jimmyjrg from the information I read about archive.org content it is free to use under commons licence unless I'm mistaken, if not im happy to do what you suggest. Stevene1919 (talk) 17:55, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
I couldn't see any clear copyright information for the magazine uploaded on archive.org but generally anything created or published in the 1980s in Australia would still be in copyright unless the original rights holders release a statement saying otherwise. Jimmyjrg (talk) 07:33, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
do you think taking a photo of a newspaper edition or using a photo taken of one by someone would be acceptable as fair use? i think i have an old copy somewhere, or could get one. Stevene1919 (talk) 19:00, 17 June 2025 (UTC)
Sorry for the late reply. I only just saw this. You could reupload a small version of the image to Wikipedia as Fair Use, but not to Wikimedia Commons where images need to be available under an open license. There's a bit more information here: Wikipedia:Non-free content. See The Music (magazine) for an example of an Australian magazine using a fair use image to illustrate the article. Information icon Hello, I'm Jlwoodwa. An article that you recently made, Draft:Breakfest, seemed to be generated using a large language model (an "AI chatbot" or another application using such technology). Text produced by these applications can be unsuitable for an encyclopedia, and output must be carefully checked. In particular, you should check each citation, and fictitious references must be removed. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. jlwoodwa (talk) 19:42, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

@Jlwoodwa I've written and checked the article, i did use chatgpt to try and find references, but its definitely my work. Stevene1919 (talk) 19:47, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

Tim Clifford (politician)

While I've got you, is Tim Clifford (politician) a former local councillor somewhere? I can't find any information on it, so I've removed the category. But if you know he is, the category should be added back. Steelkamp (talk) 16:04, 23 October 2025 (UTC)

Also, keep in mind that not all mayors are local councillors, hence the separate categories. It depends on the council. If the mayor is popularly elected, then the mayor is not a councillor, but if the mayor is elected by the council, then the mayor is a councillor. Happy editing, Steelkamp (talk) 16:06, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
" Stevene1919 (talk) 17:27, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
@SteelkampTim Clifford hasn't been a former politician anywhere but WA Parliament.
i am aware that not all mayors are councillors, it depends on how they are elected (voters or councillors, it does vary, needless to say most I've encountered are elected by electors.
"The relationship between mayors (or Shire Presidents) and councillors in Western Australia's local governments depends on how the mayor/president is elected:

1. Mayor/President Elected by the Electors (Popularly Elected) In this case, the mayor or president is an additional elected member of the council. This means they are an elected office-holder, but they are generally not one of the ordinary councillors. The total council membership is the mayor/president plus the number of councillors. The Mayor/President still carries out the functions and duties of a council member in addition to their leadership and civic roles.

2. Mayor/President Elected by the Council (Elected from within)

In this case, the mayor or president is elected from among the councillors. The person elected as mayor or president remains a councillor but takes on the additional duties and title of the leader of the council. The total number of elected members on the council remains fixed, with one of them holding the title of mayor or president. In both scenarios, the mayor or president is part of the elected body that governs the local government and performs the role of a council member in that they participate in council decisions. The difference is whether their office is additional to the number of councillors or one of the councillor positions. Recent reforms in WA have increasingly pushed for the popular election of mayors/presidents for larger local governments, which makes them an additional, non-councillor office.

"For both the City of Vincent and the City of Armadale, the Mayor is elected by the electors of the district (popularly elected), which means the Mayor holds a separate, additional office to that of the ordinary councillors"
(i am learning the ins and outs too) Stevene1919 (talk) 17:26, 23 October 2025 (UTC)

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Mark Dynamix when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Zone Laser Tag, a link pointing to the disambiguation page Darwin was added.
