3x3 basketball format
I am not aware of an alleged consensus to just keep the 3x3 scores simplified. Which should be done? Which version is preferable.
Using 2026 FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup – Men's tournament as an example. Should it be:
- Option A - with the match boxscores
- Option B - without the match boxscores, scorelines integrated with the table.
To my defense, I am just following Basketball at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Men's 3x3 tournament template.
But @Alberto 1105 says there is some informal consensus to keep the tables simple.
In my opinion though, match sourcing is paramount if we are able. With Option B we are removing the date and the sequences of the matches. Just because previous editors are content with the previous approach that consensus cannot be changed/revisited. Also the Knockout stages imo would need sources for each match. Pinging the other user involved in the discussion. @Kante4 Hariboneagle927 (talk) 13:01, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
- For me, unless it's WC or Olympics i do Option B BUT if an editor wants to add the boxscores, i won't oppose. Kante4 (talk) 13:06, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
- In my opinion, without meaning to diminish anything, I think it's a waste of time when it's already been stated that option A is the appropriate formula for covering all these types of events. I've also been observing year after year, and all competitions of this magnitude use this formula. I could give a thousand examples; here are a few:
- - 2025 FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup – Men's tournament
- - 2026 FIBA 3x3 Champions Cup
- - 2025 FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup – Men's tournament
- We always follow this template. It doesn't mean anything. It simply acknowledges that more isn't always better and that we've always used these templates in these tournaments. Alberto 1105 (talk) 13:10, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
RfC was started asking whether executive careers parameters should be added to template Infobox basketball biography
Hello, a new Request for comment was started at Template talk:Infobox basketball biography#Request for comment: should executive careers parameters be added to this infobox template?. I invite everyone to express your opinion in this basketball-related RfC. Best regards, -- Pofka (talk) 20:33, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
Created an article for Ajae Petty
Hello! I have created a draft article for Ajae Petty, who, according to the Women’s Basketball Task Force, is the only active WNBA player without an article. The draft can be found here: Draft:Ajae Petty. I have submitted it for review and am awaiting a decision on acceptance or rejection. I’d appreciate any help or contributions toward this article. Thank you! owlettestalk 21:29, 6 April 2026 (UTC)

- Jfc. I'll look into some of the Hispanic players... JTtheOG (talk) 21:48, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
- Jeeeeez. Would this ever go through? There's significant opposition to do this, but I guess just like decapitalization wars if the proponents are insistent and well entrenched, they could do it... Howard the Duck (talk) 22:31, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
- Just curious, were these wars in question over "NBA Draft" vs "NBA draft"? JTtheOG (talk) 22:33, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
- Not really "wars" among members of the NBA project or even basketball editors; there's this set of editors who decapitalized everything from sports tournaments (see NCAA Division I men's basketball championship) to tectonic plates. Editors who were maintaining these articles were no match in the insistence of this editors. How can you argue consistency if some WP:RS do capitalize these things for one reason or another? The editors who made the decapitalization campaign were banned a few months ago. (I would have not banned these guys, as these were really productive and longstanding editors, just that they used their clout to get their way).
- FWIW, Talk:NBA draft#Requested move 2 (the RM that decapitalized it) had low participation. NBA playoffs didn't even have an WP:RM; Anthony Appleyard (RIP) just moved it unilaterally. (I can argue NBA Draft and NBA Playoffs are "TV programs" and should be capitalized). Howard the Duck (talk) 23:16, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
- Already happened twice (but by the smallest margins imaginable – both discussions were initially closed as "no consensus", brought for review, by narrow "consensus" were overturned, and then by narrow margins found to have "consensus in favor"): WP:LUGSTUBS and WP:LUGSTUBS2, though this one is planned to be even larger and on even more notable subjects. (My data so far shows about 80% of these are notable subjects that would be being redirected.) BeanieFan11 (talk) 22:40, 10 April 2026 (UTC)

- The first spot I check for more sources in situations like this is the inter-language link for the native/local language. Lidia Gorlin has a relatively well-developed article on Italian Wikipedia (at least compared to en.wiki) with some sources there that might be worth checking.
