To repeat what I asked at the nomination: How long do you spend searching for coverage for each of these athletes? Do you search in their native languages in addition to English? You're making mass nominations of dozens of articles from non-English countries on a daily basis and not specifying in the nominations that any search is being performed, which is very concerning. You only stated that you "did WP:BEFORE duly". I asked how long do you spend searching, and do you try to search in the athletes' native languages in addition to English, because if someone is making insane quantities of AFDs rapidly, it seems very unlikely that such things are occurring. Even if a search is being performed, the nominations should be spaced out so that the editors in the topic area are not flooded with 60+ articles to search for within a week. Hey BeanieFan11. I've noticed that, oftentimes, when you do nominations, you nominate first then pledge to provide a QPQ within two days. However, because WP:QPQ states that nominations can be closed at any time if no QPQs are provided, this leaves the possibility of your nominations being closed prematurely. Recently, some of your nominations were marked for closure because a QPQ was not provided immediately. Even though those issues have since been resolved, my suggestion is that you do your QPQs before nominating the articles for DYK, instead of after like you are currently doing. If the issue is that you do not have time to do reviews, you can hold off nominating the article until after you have accomplished your QPQs. Remember that you have seven days (plus up to two days extensions) to nominate an article, so you should have enough time to do the QPQs before nominating. Thank you and happy editing. There's only so much I can do with the amount of work I have. That may be somewhat reasonable in normal circumstances, but in this "backlog mode" requiring multiple QPQs for every nom, I don't always have the time to get that many QPQs done before every nomination. You even told me before that "being late by a day would be understandable". I don't understand this obsession by some editors to force immediate QPQ compliance even when there is a promise to do QPQs very soon (and if not accomplished by the promised time, I have no objection to them being failed) and even when, in Len Garrett's case, there was already a QPQ at the nom (just not two). It's not like missing a QPQ for a few hours is some substantial hindrance for reviewers; in many cases I'm waiting weeks for anyone to review my noms. BeanieFan11 (talk) 14:38, 10 November 2025 (UTC)

The previous page was protected due to unsourced content, but I have rebuilt the article from scratch using only reliable secondary sources (ESPN, AP News, local newspapers, Patriot League releases, etc.). All claims are cited, and I have avoided any primary or non-independent sources.
Because the article title is still protected from creation/move, I cannot publish it myself. Would you be willing to:
review the sandbox draft, and
move it into mainspace if it meets Wikipedia’s standards?
In addition, I wanted to note that Google displays a full Knowledge Panel for “Danny Lauter” (including images, team info, statistics, and biographical data). I realize this cannot be used as a source in the article itself, but I mention it here only to show that the subject already has significant digital footprint and recognition across reliable, independent outlets. If helpful, I can provide links to the underlying independent sources that Google uses (ESPN, AP News, Greenwich Time, Patriot League, etc.).

Beanie, you've just reverted me three time, and I could report you for WP:3RR. I like you, so I am not going to do that but this type of fighting should be avoided. I don't want to see you get blocked. As regards to notability tags. In general, I view tags as a diagnostic tool. Articles that don't have WP:SIGCOV present in the article can and should be notability tagged in my opinion. The tag shouldn't be removed until source presence has been addressed. That may not be how you perceive tags, but for me they are there to draw attention to ways articles can be improved. They aren't there for any other reason that to help target future editing. No offense, but you never actually presented any evidence of notability and never showed WP:NEXIST. It's not unreasonable to want evidence of WP:SIGCOV (ie specific publications). Throwing out generic url searches with lots of hits that are largely trivial isn't showing NEXIST. You could weed through that search and find specific articles, and then give details about which ones actually have WP:GNG level sourcing. That would actually show notability, and address the tag. Until that evidence is in hand the tag should stay because requiring editors to prove a negative is impossible, and you could literally remove every notability tag ever placed anywhere under that logic which means there is no point to having notability tags.4meter4 (talk) 22:16, 14 December 2025 (UTC)
The first results in that link are many significant stories on him and clearly evidence his notability. He's an NHL player – almost no one seriously would think he's not notable. There is no requirement that sources be presented in the article for a subject to be notable – notability tags are for subjects which appear like they are not notable, not for subjects which are obviously notable based on their accomplishments but don't yet have sufficient sourcing. In my quest to write about every country, I've come across several subjects where I've been very surprised at the lack of an article. Mongush Buyan-Badyrgy (founded a country), Muhammad Tajuddin (Sultan of Brunei), Nuno Xavier (signed the document that made São Tomé and Príncipe a country) and Bethwel Henry (a founding father of the Federated States of Micronesia) are a few that come to mind. And there's lots of neat stories I've come across in writing all these foreign political figures. Like how John Mascarenhas impersonated the leader of the Seychelles anti-independence party to advocate for independence, Adam Sapi Mkwawa's quest to retrieve his grandfather's skull, Håkon Balstad's governing of half-destroyed Svalbard, the death of the last Easter Island monarch, the politician known as "Buy Cash", and who could forget Stanislav Moroz's tenure as Acting Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic at the Second Extraordinary Congress of Deputies of the Transnistrian Region of All Levels?:) BeanieFan11 (talk) 01:55, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

I was looking for sources for Dereck Brain and noticed the Grokipedia article. Talk about terrible. The "article" is 1,238 words long but it's basically not even about him. Throughout all of the sections it just says little is known about Brain and it goes off on tangents about other stuff. I've fact checked Groki on two other articles and found stuff wrong on both of them. Groki has a bible on LaDaris Vann for some reason even though he's not super-duper notable. It said he was on practice squads but that's not true (he wasn't even on one practice squad, let alone plural). It also said he was released due to injury but the source did not say that at all. It was just a transaction listing that said he got released. I didn't fact check the whole article. Those are just a few things I noticed. I thought this passage was funny: "These short stints underscored persistent hurdles, including injuries that restricted playing time and the competitive nature of U.S. professional football, preventing long-term establishment in either the NFL or AFL." There was also a painter article I fact checked recently (don't remember his name) but it just completely guessed how long he was under the tutelage of another artist. Yeah, have I've just begin looking at Grokapedia a bit of late. Compare Clinton L. Hare (an article I built out back in 2011) vs. https://grokipedia.com/page/clinton_l_hare. Grokapedia tends to add in a lot of generic narrative filler like "This foundational schooling prepared him for higher education" and "leaving a lasting mark on early Indiana college football through his emphasis on strategic preparation and athlete development." The Grokapedia article doesn't make any mention of Billy Crawford, and the associated confusion between the two in the coaching records, content I only added to the Wikipedia article in 2024. There are some details in the Grokedpia article that aren't in the Wikipedia article, likes names of the country clerks that Hare worked under after his football career. WikiCup 2026 March newsletter
The first round of the 2026 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As some of you may have noticed, good article nomination reviews now receive 10 points, an increase from 5 points in the previous year, as per a consensus at WT:CUP. This point increase has been retroactively applied to all good article reviews for which competitors have claimed points in this round. Peer reviews, which continue to be worth 5 points, are now listed in the same section as featured article candidate reviews, rather than with good article reviews. Everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned. No other changes to the round-point system have been made for this year.
Round 1 was competitive. Three contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 300 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:
Generalissima(submissions) with 1,095 round points, largely from 3 featured articles, 6 good articles, and 5 did you know articles;
MCE89(submissions) with 848 round points, largely from 1 featured article, 8 good articles, 1 did you know article, and 32 FAC and GAN reviews; and
Rollinginhisgrave(submissions) with 838 round points, largely from 1 featured article, 8 good articles, 1 did you know article, and 14 FAC, GAN, and peer reviews.
The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 7 featured articles, 16 featured lists, 2 featured-topic articles, 168 good articles, 13 good-topic articles and more than 50 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 14 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 700 reviews. The tournament points table will be updated within the next few days.
Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. This gives readers a confused impression, because it isn't clear why you're using quotation marks, and they're normally not used on Wikipedia without a very good reason. Readers seeing these quotation marks might be wondering if they can trust you as an editor, or wondering if they can trust the source you used.
If the marks are just to say "this is not necessarily this editor's opinion", then the quotation marks should simply be removed - our opinions as editors are never allowed in articles anyway. If the marks are to warn readers "Borba is an important valuable source, but Borba's reporting on this topic might be biased", then it would probably be better to change it to something like this: During this time he organized a trade union, and according to a report in Borba, his apartment turned into the center of illegal revolutionary activity.TooManyFingers (he/him · talk) 15:58, 1 March 2026 (UTC)

No, that's not what I mean. I only said, to the reviewer, that I think the Sunday News and Daily News are significant coverage (SIGCOV) that can qualify for WP:GNG. I don't know if I'd say the AP story is detailed enough to be considered SIGCOV, but that doesn't mean it needs to be taken out. It's fine if articles have sources that are not SIGCOV – the important thing is that there are also sources with SIGCOV included (which, in my opinion, there are in this case). Regarding local sources, a source being very local to the subject can impact its independence in a way that compromises its ability to be used to support notability. Local media sources have a vested interest in promoting the profile of local places, figures, events etc. In much the same way we don't consider trades magazines as reliable sources of notability for companies within their industry, we also have to be cautious of using very local sources. I came up with these players below by going through the CFL starting QB lists (I already knew a lot of them though). The checkmark Y means Bo Levi is objectively better. Not done means he isn't objectively better (he still debatably is though).
Here are 14 NFL starters (12 of which Bo Levi Mitchell is objectively better than) who were in the CFL at the same time as Mitchell (2012–present):
Johnny Manziel: Pretty much had the same mediocre statline in both the NFL and CFL. Y
Ryan Lindley: Sucked in the NFL but managed to start a playoff game. He was a backup in the CFL. Y
Paxton Lynch: Sucked in the NFL. He was a third-stringer in the CFL. Y
P. J. Walker: Sucked in the NFL but somehow managed to start games for multiple NFL teams. He is currently a backup in the CFL. Y

I updated the list: User:WikiOriginal-9/Bo Levi Mitchell. He is now objectively better than 106 NFL QBs. I went through the annual CFL roster lists on Wikipedia and added the CFL backups who were also in the NFL. I also looked through Category:Canadian football quarterbacks and added some people. I didn't click on all 735 names. I just clicked on ones that looked familiar or suspicious. Like I said, yesterday I only went through the CFL starting QB lists (along with adding a few people that I specifically remembered like JT O'Sullivan and Vince Young). When you add the template to an English article you can give it what the name of it would be in German so when it is tapped it opens the article to be made on the German Wikipedia then you go onto create the article in German insinuating it is to be translated from English to German strictly. A few months ago I created my first ever sports-related article — Boyd Epley — about the man widely regarded as the first full-time strength and conditioning coach in college football.
I came across Boyd Epley through my own training background (I follow NSCA strength programs), so I knew his story well. But I'll be honest: American football is not really my area (I'm based in Europe), so I may have missed some nuances relevant to sports-related articles.

Beck beat Carson-Newman in the NCAA DII title game. His great-great-great grandfather, William Allen Montgomery, was the president of Carson-Newman from 1888 to 1892.
Beck had been working as a loan officer in Colorado before being signed to the Chicago Bears' practice squad. Bears teammate Mike Horan had also been working as a loan officer in Colorado earlier in the year before signing with the Bears. I don't plan on expanding it. I was just cleaning up the error at Josh Johnson that said he was a member of the most different NFL teams (14). That accolade actually goes to Shayne Graham with 15 teams (even though the NYT mistakenly believes it's Johnson). According to this ESPN article, Graham is tied with Tillie Voss for the most NFL teams played for with 10 (real games only). So either way you look at it, Graham should have the record, not Johnson. Although Johnson does have 12 active roster stints while Graham only has 11 (Guinness isn't counting it like that though)

There's been some times I've seen broadcasts before and noticed inaccuracies. Like I had written the article for 1930s player Red Weiner, the only Eagles QB to throw for two touchdowns on four or fewer pass attempts until Tanner McKee, and the next Eagles preseason I heard the announcer say something like, "McKee is the only Eagles quarterback to ever throw for two touchdown passes on four or fewer pass attempts." I believe there may have been confusion in the past related to multiple accounts. I want to be transparent that I am Danny Lauter, a college football quarterback, and I understand that I have a conflict of interest when it comes to articles about myself.

Hello. In order for a subject to receive an article, there must be in-depth coverage of them in independent, reliable sources. In other words, what is needed is stories focusing on you from media outlets unconnected to you or your school, such as in newspapers like The Post-Standard (since you're at Syracuse). Take this story about Antoine Deslauriers as an example of the kind of things we look for (if you can't read it let me know). Sorry to disappoint, but most college athletes simply aren't notable and I'm not seeing much significant coverage about you. The draft is a hugely popular televised event. There are many editors who try to update the selections as soon as they're picked and the selections are easily verifiable. The second round of the 2026 WikiCup ended on 28 April. As a reminder for contestants who just joined or are unaware of recent changes to our round-points system, good article nomination reviews now receive 10 points, an increase from 5 points in the previous year, as per a consensus at WT:CUP. Peer reviews, which continue to be worth 5 points, are now listed in the same section as featured article candidate reviews, rather than with good article reviews. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned. No other changes to the round-point system have been made for this year.
Round 2 was competitive. Three contestants scored more than 1,000 round points; nine scored over 500; and fourteen scored over 300. The top seven contestants had at least one featured article (two of them with two apiece). The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:

Beanie, I just expanded the article on opera singer Joyce Castle who was the brother of academic Neal Malicky. Their father George Malicky was, according to our article on his son Neal, a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Athletics; although from the sources I looked at it appears he was more active in the minor leagues. As I've watchlisted the pages, they are not going back into mainspace until they have been reviewed. The tags you added make sense, but complete removal of everything will make it somewhat more time-consuming for me to properly restore the correct information. I suspect that most of the content in these articles is accurate – it'd be easier/make more sense for me to review, cut the information which is not correct and then move back to mainspace than to have to look back into the page history, add back the portions that are correct, then format it properly, etc. BeanieFan11 (talk) 21:45, 13 June 2026 (UTC)

Draftifying
Just a reminder that if you want to move mainspace articles into draftspace due to problems with the editor who created them, then you need to disable the categories on the draft at the same time. Drafts have to be kept out of categories per WP:DRAFTNOCAT, so you're making a lot of extra work for other people to clean up if you move pages to draftspace but leave the categories on them enabled. So if you want to keep doing that because of a bad creator, then please disable the categories on the page right away after moving it, instead of leaving that for me or Quinntropy or whoever else to clean up on your behalf. It seems like we've got a pretty serious case of original research going on through the article, but I don't know where to start cleaning up. Perhaps post about this at WT:NFL? I'm not sure the best way to go about this, although I haven't taken a deep look. The article seems to be mostly based on the Coffin Corner article about whether the team was a part of the NFL. It seems a lot of the content could be cited to that, but other content does seem to be original research or questionable such as Only the Chicago Tigers, who played seven games against NFL teams during the 1920 NFL season, have been generally recognized as league members without having formally been admitted to or removed from the league. At least one team, that year's runner-up Buffalo All-Americans, refused to recognize their membership and canceled two games against them, and possibly pressured the Akron Pros into canceling a game against Syracuse as well. or the "Ties to other Syracuse teams" section. It doesn't take as long as it sounds. If you do like 15 a minute, that's 900 in an hour. I have a dragging tool where I open like 50 links at once. Then copy-paste the name into the list while also taking a second to see what league they played in. Initially when I started I only wrote NFL articles but then in the past few years I've written about lots of different topics, everything from Tuvan politicians to North Korean actors haha. Although I haven't made much progress lately, I'm hoping to eventually write an article for every different country (and territory) in the world (which it seems no one has claimed to have accomplished yet). It's also kind of surprising that I've only created 9 articles on United Football League (2009–2012) players. That league was from the Wikipedia era though so I guess most of them were already getting articles created, and I wasn't editing yet anyway. It also wasn't on NGRIDIRON, lol. That league didn't have that many games a season anyway. I've also only created 8 UFL2 players but that's not surprising because I haven't created that many articles on recent NFL players (only recent CFL players, lol). You picked up a lot of the slack of doing the current NFLers that I used to do. There was a weird year in 2019 though where neither one of us were editing, lol. There were several other NFL players from around 2010-2012 who somehow sneaked through the cracks without an article before I created them years later in 2014-2016: Richard Medlin, Chris Smith (2010s defensive back), Brian Smith (linebacker, born 1989), Michael Lockley, Vince Agnew. I suspect those guys were due to their active roster promotions never getting updated on the roster templates. I know. It's funny sometimes I'm able to guess who wrote modern football player articles just based on citation styles, length and certain phrases used (like, I could tell that's a Yankees10 article based on length and how the citations are formatted). It's quite possible that you've written more overall prose than him, although I don't know how one would figure that out (I would guess that you've written more than me since quite a few of my NFL articles are still stubs, although I do have a fair number of expansions for NFL articles I didn't create...).
