1970 Alabama lieutenant gubernatorial election

In the Democratic primary election, candidate Jere Beasley received a plurality of the votes (29.03%), thus advancing to a runoff against runner-up Hugh Morrow. Beasley won the runoff with 57.78% and thus became the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor.

On election day, November 3, 1970, Democratic nominee Jere Beasley won the election by a margin of 463,112 votes against his foremost opponent Republican nominee Bob French, thereby retaining Democratic control over the office of lieutenant governor. Beasley was sworn in as the 22nd lieutenant governor of Alabama on January 19, 1971.^[1]
