While they predominantly made hip hop music in 213-2014, they have used a large variety of genres since 2015, with hip hop being the minority while other genres like EDM, R&B and pop have been dominant. Labeling them a hip hop group is at this point misleading and inaccurate. Here are 2 sources, however time would not allow for the exhaustive and extensive list of sources that have confirmed this over the last 11 years Sources https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2026-03-20/exclusive-bts-on-new-album-arirang-creative-process-upcoming-world-tour?embedded-checkout=true
Here Bloomberg quotes Suga, a member of BTS, as describing their music as a variety of genres, although they originally had their roots in hip hop, they have grown past just that one sound

- I have reverted the recent edits by User:Songsten that caused this to become an issue. No explanation or source was provided for their edits other than the incorrect statement that K-pop is not a music genre. Day Creature (talk) 06:51, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
I added ref. Ronten5 (talk) 12:20, 29 March 2026 (UTC)— Ronten5 (talk • contribs) is blocked for having used sockpuppets in this debate.thank you for adding it Songsten (talk) 12:23, 29 March 2026 (UTC)— Songsten (talk · contribs) is a confirmed sockpuppet of Ronten5 (talk · contribs).- @Ronten5 While the source you provided may meet WP:RS, verifiability is a requirement for inclusion, not a mandate (WP:VNOT). As this is a Featured Article, we must maintain WP:WEIGHT; the infobox should only reflect the group’s most defining, career-spanning genres. The WP:ONUS is on the editor seeking the change to demonstrate how this addition improves the article and reflects the broader consensus of reliable sources. ꕥ 𝙳.𝟷𝟾𝚝𝚑 ꕥ →𝙼𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚊𝚐𝚎 𝚖𝚎← 12:43, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
changing main image of article
the Wikipedia article for a Korean boy band should not have its first/main image be of the members standing in front of an American flag and in an American building--the image should be of the members standing in a non-identifiable or Korean location to reflect their nationality ~2026-20330-51 (talk) 01:35, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
- Is there a free image of the same quality on Commons? Wehwalt (talk) 01:36, 2 April 2026 (UTC)

- If we really want to revert to a photo from 2019, imo this one is of better quality. Chiyako92 12:53, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
- I tend to agree that if we are to replace it, we need something more up to date. Wehwalt (talk) 15:23, 2 April 2026 (UTC)

2025–present
I suggest to added:
In May 2026, BTS met with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum at the National Palace in Mexico City during their Arirang World Tour. Mexico is considered one of the most significant international markets for K‑pop, and around 50,000 fans gathered to greet the group as they appeared on the palace balcony. Sheinbaum praised BTS for promoting messages of friendship, peace, and love.
