This article should be renamed to "Yugoslav Army in the Homeland", that describe 1941-1946 royalist armed organization. And there should be different article about Chetniks as whole, like in other languages' wikis (Russian, Serbo-croatian and others) 83.149.45.235 (talk) 11:05, 15 April 2025 (UTC)

Not so. Chetnik seems to be a term widely used before and after WWII. Not even sure WWII use is the "primary meaning". So additional detail, say, Chetniks (WWII), would be a minimum requirement. Arminden (talk) 14:26, 29 July 2025 (UTC)

When used first? How early?

Clearly in use in the late 19th c. in the context of Serbian anti-Ottoman intervention in Kosovo and Macedonia, see Serbian Chetnik Organization, later in the Balkan Wars (Chetniks in the Balkan Wars) and later in the interbellum (Chetniks in the interwar period) - all these predating WWII. "All elements of the Chetnik Command were captured during the invasion, and there is no record of them being used for their intended purpose or that elements of these units operated in any organised way after the surrender."

Not all elements were captured. 14 Chetniks joined Draza Mihailovic on Ravna Gora and were pivotal in organizing units that played crucial role in Serbian Uprising of 1941. Easily checkable. Sources linked are an ex Partisan and an Economist from Croatia. They never had intentions to be fair towards Chetniks.

Chetnik units were used during invasion of Yugoslavia for their intended purpose. All units engaged, with some leaders being killed in combat. Easily checkable fact. Sources that claim that Chetnik command was not used in April War should be totally omitted from use.

"Estimates of the number of deaths caused by the Chetniks in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina range from 50,000 to 68,000, while more than 5,000 victims are registered in the region of Sandžak alone."

No reliable source claims these numbers. Credible academic sources like Vladimir Geiger state that these numbers are guestimates. Zerjavic and people who cite his claims, changed their figures multiple times and showed no proofs for their claims. Methods used in Zerjavic's research are wrong and not used in any similar topic. Sources that claim these numbers summon both military and civilian deaths. Most military deaths happened in battles some of which were defensive so there was no intention in massacring. So no, Chetniks did not kill 50000-68000 Croats and Muslims, especially not as part of genocide. ~2025-32129-88 (talk) 15:28, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

"On 22 July 1996, the Republika Srpska entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina created a veteran rights law that explicitly covered former Chetniks, but did not include former Partisans." This to me seems misleading, as I would assume Partizans would already have pensions and veterans rights (the JNA, which grew from the partisan movement, was literally still the military at the time). The wording seems to imply that Chetniks got rights while Partizans didn't. I don't have access to the original book, but if someone does could they clarify or edit the entry?
