This was a really long paragraph that I think is vandalism, but it's sourced...weird.

On October 21, 2010 MTV released an article on their website title “Dear Lupe Fiasco: 10 Tips To Make LASERS Successful”. The article consisted of content that could be considered degrading or slander toward Fiasco. The article said things like, “Lupe Fiasco did the impossible recently. He got a release date for LASERS!…There are plenty of things he needs to do if he wants Atlantic to give him the chance to release any more albums after this one.” The list’s tips consisted of: 1. Keep recording songs for LASERS 2. Call Kanye West, like, NOW 3. Drop a mixtape. Immediately. 4. Stop participating in supergroups 5. Repair your image on rap blogs 6. Embrace your leaked records 7. Be open to trying everything to land a hit single 8. Take cues from your labelmate B.o.B. 9. Appreciate your old fans—but try to find some new ones . 10. Keep rapping your ass off. Many of this tips also contained content that could be seen as slanderous or uncalled for, such as, “Do you really think Atlantic—or any other record label, for that matter—is going to put out an album by either of those two supergroups anytime soon? Yeah, we don't think so…We're not sure if you know this or not, but most of the rap blogs seem to hate you.” The article also contained content that could be seen as pushy by telling Lupe to sell out and get a hit single. The article reads, “You passed over on B.o.B's "Nothin' On You.”…be open to do anything you can to get that hit…Speaking of B.o.B, look no further than B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray to hear how you can make the album you want to and keep your label happy…Use that as your blueprint.” To some people this is telling Lupe to completely sell out and only do mainstream music because B.o.B’s last album, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, was chastised by his fans for being to mainstream and poppy; some believe B.o.B sold out.^[1] MTV then finished the interview but saying, “But you also need to branch out and realize that not everyone is happy with the way you've handled your label politics.”^[2] Soon after the MTV article “Dear Lupe Fiasco: 10 Tips to Make LASERS Successful” released Lupe tweeted back these comments, “Oh snap…MTV (illuminati’s favorite network) back on the attack…why can’t y’all just chill out? Salacious banality @ the speed of light? I think I’ve been very good natured with you. I personally know several employees of your company. You guys know me as well. I’m confused. Where is the true music journalism??? where is Suchin?!! What happened? Where are the honest critiques of cultural expression? For it’s not about being RIGHT it’s about being HOT Fame over self-awareness and virtue Hedonism over self respect Celebrity over cerebral. A destroying force in our culture and society just like rest of the useless vapid spectacles that pour out of our tv’s and radios. What are we supposed to be learning from you? What is your point? Do you have a point beyond corporate sponsored distraction? Your a materialistic shell of your former self that can only identify with celebrity pageantry and instant gratification. Corporate garbage pushing plastic lifestyles and wasteful, destructive behavior into the brains of the youth of the world. So when your relevance thins in2 a whisper & the stock price collapses and you have 2 come 2 grips with the mess you made. I’ll be here 4 ya. We’ll be here. With hands full of baby powder 2 smack some sense back into your body & a warm shoulder to cry on. We want the REAL MTV back!”. One writer for ology.com responded by saying, “I can't blame the guy, because the article was a bit pushy, listing suggestions such as “Call Kanye West, like NOW," “Repair Your Image on Rap Blogs," and “Be Open to Everything to Land a Hit Single” -- essentially everything that you shouldn't tell an artist of Lupe's caliber, and everything we could expect from the despicable music network that MTV has become.”^[3]

Hey sorry for the lengthy paragraph but I thought I would try to put it up. It was a part of a school project, and why did you take it down it's sourced and legitmate, I don't understand.

That's not vandalism, that actually HAPPENED. MTV tried to give Lupe some advice at a very bad time, so he took it the wrong way and went on a very long rant of MTV on his twitter that is several tweets long. From an interview I remember watching, Lupe said he was planning on releasing two albums in 2011, one which is Lasers and the which is Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album, shouldn't that be listed under where the discography is in this article? It says in the "2009–present: Lasers and Food & Liquor 2" section that "Fiasco completed another album, titled Food and Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album." While this does have a citation to back up the claim, there have been multiple recent messages, tweets, and facebook statuses making it clear that he is still "in the studio" working on the album. It can be found online, that Lupe is engaged yet he does not talk about his private life or he says that he has a girlfriend. The woman that he is engaged to, same woman from his Paris, Tokyo video, a Miss Marquita McCurry, who founded his LupeFiascoStore and often seen backstage on tour with him, and states that she is a medical esthetcian and aspiring jewler, this can be found on facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/help/?mail_sent#!/profile.php?id=100000326985546; it is rumored they have been together for 7 years or that they have been together since the beginning...of what I don't know?. I believe celebrities need to stop the charade and be honest about their relationship status but instead they make themselves appear "single" to a certain extent to keep the females "wishing...and dreaming" and interested; most men do not care. I'm sure if Lupe has dated this woman for this long that despite his claim to be a devout muslim, Im sure they have had intercourse over these 7yrs. I'm not hating on them, just dont like being lied to by celebs...and although he is suppose to be this deep, pro-black rapper and devout muslim, his fiance' is pretty much like a lighter version of Ciara and just as image n materialistic like all the females of today...I would of expected a natural or even muslim looking woman since he talks about it a lot. I think his relationship status should be added to the profile and you have the links for it.

Can someone please change the main picture of Lupe Fiasco in his article? I mean, it's so old and outdated, and he looks nothing like that today. Political viewsFiasco is known for his anti-establishment views. In an interview with Stephen Colbert on the satirical news show The Colbert Report, Fiasco stated his credo on political philosophy: "You should criticize power even if you agree with it."[70]

In another interview in June 2011 on the CBS program "What's Trending," Fiasco discussed the political content of his music and stated, "My fight against terrorism, to me, the biggest terrorist is Obama and the United States of America. I'm trying to fight the terrorism that's actually causing the other forms of terrorism. You know, the root cause of terrorism is the stuff the U.S. government allows to happen. The foreign policies that we have in place in different countries that inspire people to become terrorists."[71] Despite his strong political opinions, Fiasco said he does not vote in U.S. elections or involve himself in U.S. politics, which he called "meaningless."[70]

Don't you understand that it's dooms-millenium, people are just ontologically re-adjusting, or not, nobody wants to build the monorails over the freeways, the electric cars practically suck. There needs to be at least some reference to Lupe Fiasco's delivery and or poetic technique. He is among the top lyricists in Hip Hop yet anyone reading this would be ignorant of this. I am requesting two changes to this line: "Despite his strong political opinions, Fiasco does not vote in U.S. elections nor does he involve himself in U.S. politics as he believes they are 'meaningless.'" "Despite" should be changed to "In keeping with," given Fiasco's clearly stated anti-establishment views. Alternatively, the line might be changed to "In keeping with his anti-establishment views, Fiasco does not vote in U.S. elections..." Also, the quotes around "meaningless" should be removed: it's clear that he's not using the word ironically, nor is he referring to it.

As it stands, this sentence implies that Fiasco's views are contradictory, and seems editorial in putting quotes around "meaningless." There is some implication that his abstinence from voting is in some way wrong or odd. If the intent is to quote him verbatim, limiting the quote to a single word doesn't seem the best way to do it. An alternative fix might be to give the entire sentence in which he calls voting meaningless:

A number of citations in this article unnecessarily include the publisher for periodicals and websites that have their own Wikipedia article. This information has no value to anyone wanting to check or track down references. For example, publisher=Washington Post Company for references to The Washington Post, or publisher=MLB Advanced Media for references to MLB.com, only make the article longer - significantly longer when repeated many times - without adding anything useful. Therefore I plan to upgrade the article's citations to remove all such redundant publisher info, bringing them into line with the recommended use of the cite template (see Template:Citation#Publisher). I am merely going to copy and paste what the International Business Times said and als paste the link to the page. I feel that this information should definitely be in Lupe Fiasco's Wikipedia page and possibly also on the page for his latest album 'Tetsuo and Youth' because it is pretty big news. Anonymous definitely threatened the record label and whether or not that is the reason that the album was given a release date is open to debate but seems likely under the circumstances.

Atlantic Records and the rapper/record producer had been at loggerheads over the release of his new album, Tetsuo & Youth, with Atlantic saying they wouldn't release it until Fiasco produced a pop-friendly single.

This stand-off had led to the album effectively being shelved and failing to get an official release date.

On Wednesday {October 15th, 2014} however, the @TheAnonMessage Twitter account posted a series of tweets essentially threatening that if Atlantic Records didn't give the album an official release date in the next 24 hours, "we will launch a direct action against your website, your associates and your executives."

Less than a day later, the official Atlantic Records Twitter account announced that Lupe Fiasco's Tetsuo and Youth album would be released on 20 January, 2015.

While the timing of the announcement may have been a coincidence, it seems that Anonymous gave the record label the push it needed to announce a release date.

A statement from Anonymous however, seems to claim full responsibility for the announcement of a release date for the album:

24 hours ago we released a short Twitter ultimatum. We called upon record label Atlantic Records, responsible for releasing conscious rap artist Lupe Fiasco's long awaited Album. We demanded a statement from the label within 24 hours to release a date or we would unleash the complete and utter fury of our collective on their company and executives. 21 hours later they released a short Tweet citing the album and it's release date.

At this time it can be concluded that we have proved our point. We wish music that is educating the masses to keep being released. We will fight for that. Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Common and others are the moving force behind conscious rap. This is music we will fight for. _____

"Lupe quitted the Artista Records after the Chairman Anthony "L.A." Reid quitted his position as a chairman of the label. " ^[1]

The article states that Lupe discontinued 1st & 15th Entertainment in 2009 while also saying that he is still the current chief executive officer. That being said, he's been labeling copyrights as "1st & 15th Productions, Inc" in liner notes ever since leaving Atlantic Records.^[1][2] Lots of the information on the 1st & 15th Productions website is out of date, plus the name keeps switching between "Productions" and "Entertainment".^[3]

Also, Lupe is apparently signed to Sony Music Australia now (which is where Guy Sebastian is) but it's hard to know for sure.^[2][4][5] Wk7sn (talk) 08:54, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

I must be missing something, but Lupe Fiasco is not transgender, so why is his categories stating women as well as male? I am trying to clean up Women record producers category, and this is a prime example of how it is a mess. Let me know if I can remove the wrong gendered categories, or someone else can, thanks. I found a YouTube video (linked here) that features Lupe Fiasco teaching at MIT, assumingly in 2022. It is marked with a Creative Commons license, but I don’t know which license it is. If it is a reusable license, then I believe it should replace the image in the infobox, moving the current image down to the section 2012–2013: Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album.
