Hardware details rewrite
This edit simplified some of the hardware details, with the following edit message: Rewrite to preserve the technical details, but aid reader comprehension by using simpler sentence structures, avoiding jargon, and briefly explaining complex topics inline. Some of the simplifications are fine but other simplifications I think should be reviewed. One issue was that the following sentences were changed in a way that I do not think is entirely correct:
>The GPU has 36 compute units running at a variable frequency capped at 2.23 GHz, making it capable of a peak theoretical performance of 10.28 teraFLOPS. The GPU supports hardware-accelerated real-time ray tracing, a rendering technique that allows for realistic lighting and reflections. It is programmed via Sony's new AGC graphics API.
Was changed to
>The GPU is based on AMD's RDNA 2 architecture, with 36 compute units running at up to 2.23 GHz, delivering a theoretical peak performance of 10.28 teraFLOPS. It also supports hardware-accelerated real-time ray tracing, a technique that simulates how light interacts with objects to produce more realistic lighting and shadows. Developers can access this functionality using Sony’s custom graphics API.
In the rewrite AGC is grouped together with ray tracing, but AGC is used for all graphics programming, not just ray tracing, so this is not entirely accurate. In the original, "It" refers to the GPU, not to the ray tracing functionality. I changed this already, and I have no issue with using simpler terms where possible. However I still think perhaps other editors should review this change. I also noticed that the mention of the CPU being x86-64 was removed. I think the ISA of the CPU is an important hardware detail to mention, especially considering that the PS3 used a different ISA. In my opinion it is more important than the exact speed or core count, which are both left in the article. I can certainly agree that simplifications like is powered by a custom system on a chip (SoC) designed in tandem by AMD --> features a custom system on a chip (SoC) developed by AMD in collaboration with Sony are useful (and in this case probably more accurate, which is besides the point). I'm not advocating that we revert any specific change, I would just like to ask for input from other editors and @RickyCourtney. J2UDY7r00CRjH (talk) 19:17, 11 July 2025 (UTC)

- Reddit won't work, but Tom's Hardware would be a usable source on Wikipedia. Sergecross73 msg me 20:30, 21 October 2025 (UTC)

Wrong Scalping link
I believe the hyperlink for scalping in 'marketing and release' is incorrect. It links to the securities and funds definition which has little to do with how PS5 sales operate, when the ticket resale article seems more apt. Neither article fits perfectly, however. ~2026-41572-6 (talk) 21:55, 19 January 2026 (UTC)
