Disambiguation link notification for September 10
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hal Totten, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jim Braddock. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hey, was just curious why the previous infobox photo of Leonard failed NFCC? GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 17:18, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
- Never mind I see why now. What do you think of this photo of Leonard instead though? (Portrait du boxeur américain) Benny Leonard (Pacific) - btv1b53176192q.jpg GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 17:47, 19 September 2025 (UTC)

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

What is the rule you follow, please.
Greetings, 999real. You seem to be on a mission to delete fair use images. I got three notices of deletion before I could even ask you about them. Several questions. Your rationale is the image is from a commercial source (Associated Press or Getty Images) that is not discussed in the article. Where did you get this rule? What's so different about these sources compared to a fair use image obtained from any other commercial source? Where else would a fair use image come from if not a commercial source? Why are you citing this rule now, after many years? -SusanLesch (talk) 03:55, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to post-1978 Iranian politics, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Edit warring on Tasnim News Agency
Hi 999real! I noticed that you've made several edits in order to restore a version of an article. The impulse to repeatedly undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure that you're aware of Wikipedia's edit warring policy. Repeatedly undoing the changes made by other users in a back-and-forth fashion like this is disallowed, even if you feel what you're doing is justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages in order to try to reach a consensus with the other editors involved. If you are unable to come to an agreement, please use one of the dispute resolution options that are available in order to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of repeatedly reverting other editors' changes can help you avoid getting drawn into edit wars. Thank you. Longhornsg (talk) 03:06, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
For future reference
"wrongly declined because someone thinks ""found on Alamy" is not a valid objection, because Alamy does a lot of copyfraud". This is a photo from PA Images who is a press/photo agency that just happens to use Alamy to sell their photos and F7b clearly applies"
"Found on Alamy" is still not a valid objection, because, as mentioned, they lie a lot.
"From PA Images", conversely, is a valid objection, and if you'd said that one from the beginning there'd've been no problem. DS (talk) 15:42, 1 February 2026 (UTC)

Declined speedies
- File:Damaged substation fence in Moore County.webp - reverted by you
- File:Mary Richardson Kennedy.jpg - reverted by you
- File:Ryan Preece Daytona flip.jpg - reverted by you
- File:William Moncrief.png
All of these have enough factors behind them that fair use can still be argued. Also slow down with mass nominating files in use - you may be right but being disruptive and reverting objections by people that are not the uploader/creator or declines by admins is disruptive. Sennecaster (Chat) 15:27, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
- For other admins watching this, there's some more discussion on my talk page that has relevant context. It doesn't look like they plan to slow down because they believe themselves to be right on the merits (which is problematic even if that's true due to the speed/scale).
