Speedy deletion nomination of ICAAN.ie

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on ICAAN.ie requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ttonyb (talk) 03:53, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on ICAAN.ie requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Medical articles on Wikipedia must be cited by the best available evidence and written in a consistent format. We typically use review articles. A list of resources to help edit such articles can be found here. The edit box has a build in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN, additionally, the diberri tool will aid in the formatting of references; all one needs to do is cut and paste the results. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a note. Cheers. Laser brain (talk) 14:31, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of "Damon Matthew Wise"

The article "Damon Matthew Wise" has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Specifically NOT a WP:BLPPROD becaise there are references, I am flagging this article for deletion because it does not assert clearly why this person, who appears to be notable is notable. Clarify this matter and I am content that this notice be removed. Fiddle Faddle 14:45, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. There is no way to say this gently. The article is a mess. Now, while it's ok for it to start out as a slightly rambling piece it must be shaped into a decent article very fast after its creation. This is because Wikipedia has readers who wish to read good articles.
If you are not easily able to turn it from the very rough draft t is in today into a finished piece, please ask for help form experienced editors. To as for help, please the text {{helpme}} in a new section on this page, and ask for the help you would like. My suggestions are encompassed in the issues banners that I have replaced at the head of the article. Please do not remove them until each one has been addressed.
Please also use a spelling checker when you make edits. You have unusual spellings for words. Fiddle Faddle 22:21, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

Manual of style
Hi, I noticed that you were doing a lot of editing at Damon Matthew Wise. I also noticed the article has a whole lot of sections, nearly one section per sentence. I thought I'd let you know that we try to avoid this style on Wikipedia, as it makes it really hard to read, and it's not very encyclopedic. There should typically be multiple paragraphs per section. You can read up on this at MOS:SECTIONS and MOS:PARAGRAPHS. ~Adjwilley (talk) 01:50, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
There are rules which must be followed
Hi AspieNo1
When you edit here there are rules. These rules are important. We expect you to learn them and to use them. If you do not learn and use them then things will go wrong.
- Everything written here must be Notable. There's a lot of stuff to read there. You must read and understand it.
- Every significant fact must be verified. There's a lot of stuff to read there. You must read and understand it.
- Sources for verification must be reliable sources. There's a lot of stuff to read there. You must read and understand it.
- The language used in articles must be able to be understood by all other readers, not just the person writing the article
Someone like Damon Matthew Wise may be a great person, work hard and do good things, but may not be notable to others. If he is notable, be sure he meets rule 1. Then make sure that the facts are verified (rule 2 and rule 3) and the language is good (rule 4). Fiddle Faddle 09:13, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
Not a problem
The page is being constructed with contents and references and notable events and activities. points 1 to 3 are being addressed over the next few weeks.
We have started integrating links and references from web searches on Damon Matthew Wise using search engines to ensure independent and verifiable corroboration and now images which corroborate every section subsection and sub-section of the text.
Most of the verification is already there to be seen in the resources we have located and shared and indexed - we are going through the links and locating content and getting permissions to use beforehand. We have some issues to work out on third party copyright - but started uploading images to wikimedia from Wise Family albums which he and Karen have freely given, which they have made, bought the rights for distribution, had donated and already publicly shared.
You cannot expect us to share and have content before we have been given permission and confirmed use?
- My friend, please trust me. it is a problem. The article lacks notability. it fails, so far, all of those rules. And you do not have the time to search and search for answers. You have the next few days, not the next few weeks. The article needs to be edited rithlessly to strip it right back to basics. You need very few lines to show:
- Who is Damon Matthew Wise?
- Why is he notable?
- That is the best you can hope to achieve in order to save the article at this stage. Please accept that what I say is true. I inderstand Wikipedia well. Fiddle Faddle 10:53, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

We're working on links and images, but hit problems
In order to link and make a cohesive we need press coverage before there was web content.
The Periods of 1993-1999 web content was rare to find much many free web-hosting of ISPs are gone or content not acceptable. We are asking Damon to provide us with Scanned images of publications; but wikimedia are blocking uploading of items which he alone has copyright to, even though this is communicated. In some cases we are getting him to make contact again with the freelance photographers, photo studies who he commissioned for taking the image for him to have the rights to use, and news media or photographic agencies.
If there is little or no webpages that work from back then, the we will be looking to reproduce e-mail and images in the organisation archives he has been in and his persona albums - but this will take time.
We will be working on cleaning up links and ref to spread relevant connections in each section subsection and sub-section. I think that what is an exceptional icon and image of hope and finding of community to us in Ireland may come over differently. We know the steps he has taken and how he and his family have suffered - but would be inappropriate of us to show such an extreme position one way or another - we have to find a fair and balanced middle ground to be independent, accurate, and verifiable.
You will note that his academic documents and handouts used in lectures, media appearances and on AUTINET in the 90's have been widely reposted (and luckily some still remain, as several people thought them important enough to add to their informational sites in the late 90's and 00's and indeed exist in different formats still. We have only done a search by his full proper name - we know people kept on omitting his middle name and getting it completely wrong.
Think we have got the general layout right - it is now done to matching confirmation of the text and links and refs backing each other up, and finding a pattern which shows a consistent technique which is readable.
It would be so much easier if we could break the page into headings and links to a selection of charities and causes he championed and promoted but ICAAN.ie was also blocked, as was the page on the history and culture of Aspies - trying to link these all on the page about him is well a struggle..
As state we are all in the spectrum and/or have disabilities and this page will reflect our language and attitudes not the reader. It may be an idea to state that in the lead? "Reader Health warning: this page is about autism and disability issues Damon Matthew Wise has volunteered in and the service he has provided thousands, if you are slightly used to simple contents and not used to difference in language and style and not long-winded and complex, then you clearly know nothing about autism or disability, please consider reading another text" or some such? Will need to discuss on on the team meetings ... at the moment wikimedia been doing our collective heads in. Your policy and theirs seem to be oxymoronically positioned. They require the rights holders babysitting each and every images rights and well wikipeadia the exact opposite want us to be able to show independence of not having to have him to directly involved ... it's proving to be a problem. If they keep questioning every personal image of him that he approves us using and have to wait while he fights to prove he is the rights-holder of his own image, then its going to be a very slow and agonising process. He took 9 months on Facebook to be able to use his own rights-paid election campaign-shots for his profile.
We and he have both written to wikimedia to undelete all images they took down and clear the other ones. In the meantime the parties that sold or gave him the rights need to again put things in writing for events which happened 15-20 year ago ... Got to get some sleep - night shift is coming on so we want to make sure everything uploaded is still there and not created another conflict or been removed or disappeared again ...
A very important Wikipedia rule
Every account must be used ONLY by a single person. If multiple people wish to edit Wikipedia then each must have an account of his own or of her own.
What happens if this rule is broken is that the account is blocked, for ever.
If someone then opens a new account to get around the block, they are blocked, for ever.
Please make sure that you obey the rule about one person, one account.
If you have broken this rule in the past because you did not know, please stop breaking it now that you know. This is a rule and must not be broken. Fiddle Faddle 08:18, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Aware of this :) - other people contributing by use of e-mail and drop box and this user-account is still used by a single person. Will ask other people relaying to set up an account if they do not have one and join directly, if a single person winning as relay for several others is a problem ... when using we, I mean the team off wiki and I is the user entering the changes and drafts and information received.
- If there's only one individual making the actual changes, that should be fine, but I would recommend avoiding the potentially confusing term "we" in that case. The individual making the edits is the one ultimately responsible for them, even if they are doing so at the request of other parties, and it only muddies the waters if an editor suggests that they aren't responsible for the edits made under their account. Thanks. DonIago (talk) 12:35, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
Really pleased you are working within the rules of WIkipedia
I have a limited understanding of how difficult it is for you. My wife acted as a one on one mentor in school for two years for a 5 year old on the Asperger Spectrum, and did a lot of research to help him. She found this a very difficult and rewarding experience, and was able to help him integrate into school and to understand the rules of sociable living within a school. That boy went on to mainstream secondary education.
I know something of the effort it has taken you to understand and co-operate with the rules and I am writing you this note to congratulate you. Please continue to work within the rules, and accept my warmest congratulations for what you have done so far to work well here.

Smile at others by adding {{subst:Smile}} to their talk page with a friendly message.

LOL - hilarious, indeed - I guess that is why this page is significant - Damon brought each of us out of the proverbial closet, and said it is OK to work as a team and still be different(even those he never met but touched) - and we are not alone - with thousands of people with Asperger's and autism realising it is OK to be a geek, a smart-alek, a loner, a teamplayer, whatever each of us has different disabilities and abilities - it's all about the trade-off - conformity is not required to be an aspie; I can find my own way, or seek help, if I do not have the confidence to do things, and I know I have people who appreciate me being me and not a clone of a perfect soldier. We all can appreciate ourselves and our uniqueness - and not being wrong for being us. Many of us have a sneaking admiration for the one who opened our eyes and made us feel part of the world.
FYI: many of us working in the project have met Damon and been inspired by him -his lectures and radio segments have made us realise there is skill in each of us, no matter what - just because we may have a difficulty, or difference doesn't matter - even those in the disability organisations he is member of in Ireland and elsewhere who are not in the autistic spectrum have been affected.
Us Aspies, Cousins and Auties - with language he allows us to joke about ourselves and not blame the Mundane Sire we tend to think outside the box and of society and appropriateness - moderate, fair, balanced, and impartial to a fault - straight and always try to keep to the law and rules - order and justice exists in every fibre of our existence; we think of the group first and not ourselves.
Thus the term Aspies, Cousins and Auties refer to a class of society or group - and not normally aspie (as in one), we think as a collective, and thus feel uncomfortable in a collective, using language of one. The use of we reflects everyone in Ireland and around the world. Referring to me or I after all would be selfish, and we cannot have that! We need to function in a balanced, moderate, neutral and socially just world.
We can both know the person of this article to see, or hear or read from, but on the grand-scheme of things, none of us really know the other - all we get is a snap-shot. As regards suggestion that me or any of the other contributors being to closely connected or related to the subject and cannot be independent or such, I think that shows a complete lack of understanding about what us Aspies, Cousins and Auties feel as natural unselfish community-minded compulsives. We do not have a single thought which is negative, hostile, false, devious, or any such thing. In my, and probably many in the spectrum (and likely many others who know about us) this is at best a very bad joke, if not down rights insulting and abusive language.
If I or any other person was so minded and like that (which makes me crawl in my skin just thinking of it), we would possessive and not want anybody to "corrupt" or get involved in improving the listing. Sure it is important to me and other, but we are not like that; in the grand scheme of things it is a stepping stone to recognition.
There is one thing - somebody edited that Damon is Irish; that is not entirely accurate. In the submissions and google.ie search (which was removed late last night or early this morning) there was a piece from some chat site he was on that listed that shows he is British Born, was Irish Naturalised and only has Irish-voting rights and thus got Belgian Nationality instated (retrospective to 1st of January 1985). Comes from annoying the Minister of Justice of the time, as he says in the Lonergan Case - all those involved had their information sent to the minister, and he found ways to punish them all - his naturalisation details are no longer on file.

I wish to complain in the strongest terms about cyber vandalism: Talk:aspies a whole section of work over the years, and all contributions has summarily been deleted ... this is a unique cultural identity of people within and around the autistic spectrum and should not be summarily banned in an act of cyber-terrorism, vandalism and hatred towards people within the autistic spectrum using the expressions for in and about 15-20 years. Can we - in the community have people stand up against abuse of such actions?

Please reinstate word coinage cross-referencing Aspies usages of words, like Mundane for "Neurotypical"
If you check talk:asperger's syndrome, talk:Aspies and talk:Damon Matthew Wise you will see considerable discussion and discovery of evidence of pre-1999 references to such cultural lingo used by Aspies, and removing Aspie cultural. It should start coming out of talk pages and come into the public area.
Aspies around the world, who have now been using Aspies, Cousins, and Auties for around 20 years have no problem using their referenced lingo. It should not be classed as a subculture, to be hidden away, but identified as a unique cultural language and meaning.
Please do the right thing and reinstate.

Other editors, however proposed solutions, and if you could you please reinstate content temporarily and move on mass to talk:Sociological_and_cultural_aspects_of_autism (same for original Aspies page and then redirect that to Sociological_and_cultural_aspects_of_autism
Aspies can then work together on a page on self-identification and language ad merge Aspies and Talk:Aspies references, and those on Asperger syndrome page, it's talk and Damon Matthew Wise and its talk into a unified page on Aspies Culture and language (hope it could be called Aspies:_Sociological_and_cultural_aspects_of_autism or something down the road?
Redirecting Aspies and Talk:Aspies out to a page which is more anti-culture and refers to us as a subculture is offensive. We deserve recognition of same. talk) 18:36, 21 August 2013 (UTC) AspieNo1 (talk) 18:39, 21 August 2013 (UTC) AspieNo1 (talk) 18:42, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hello AspieNo1. Your userpage was deleted as probably someone erroneously put a warning message there instead of your talkpage. And that is not a big issue, you can create your userpage whenever you want (by clicking this red link: User:AspieNo1.) --SMS Talk 19:14, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
- If there was any significant content on your userpage (which I doubt as if it was the case, Discospinster must have not deleted it in the first place), you can ask Discospinster or any other admin to restore that page for you. In case you want to opt for latter, just put {{admin help}} on your talk page with a request to restore your userpage. Hope this helps. --SMS Talk 20:02, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
- And if you want to start your userpage anew click this red link → User:AspieNo1, write any content you want and hit the save button. --SMS Talk 20:05, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

See messages above - please undelete

- Your user page (i.e. User:AspieNo1) was created by another user. It was clearly a mistake and the page was speedily deleted as such. There is no reason whatsoever for resurrecting it. As for your user talk page (User talk:AspieNo1 as referenced in the section header) it has never been deleted. Favonian (talk) 21:06, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Since you request it, I have undeleted your user page, but as Discospinster told you, there is nothing there: its entire history is that user UseTheCommandLine posted a notification of an ANI discussion there by mistake instead of on your talk page, and eight minutes later blanked it with edit summary "eep, user, not user talk page" and immediately posted it in the proper place on your talk page. You may have to accept the community's verdict
This will be tough to cope with, but you need to accept that the community here has stated that the article on Mr Wise may not be kept. May I suggest you make all your communication with people who can userfy the article simple.
They do not need to know how much you care, or about families or about any other matter. All they need to know is that you would like to work on the article in your userspace. The longer you make your message the more likely it is to be misunderstood. You have a unique way of communicating. It takes a while for some of us to tune in to it. The people who close deletion discussions are, usually, just doing it as a piece of work that has to be done, and they have no interest in tuning in to you, or to me, or to anyone else. So please make their lives simple. Fiddle Faddle 23:00, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
Have suggested a number ways forward - about retaining contents for editing and reviewing references located and cleaning up article
Although applied for Sandbox and supported userfy idea as a stepping stone to continue working, don't know if anyone else understands exactly what yea are on about. We may sound like culchies, but a lot of these Yanklish expressions sound like goobledigook - I haven't found a logical definition that makes the slightest sense!
Think Damon will be annoyed if all the work everyone put into the project is wasted, so something has to be done. I know some of the comments were offensive, as if he agreed to it for promoting himself, rather then the cause - that is down right the most objectionable lack of understanding of Aspies that is out there - discriminatory, prejudices and insulting.

- I decided to meld in. First of all this project is founded by Jimmy Wales not by Damon. Second, as far as Damon's project goes, I personally salute him since I have Aspie friends myself. I do however need to point out that only thing that you need to do is to clean up the article, and then it will be perfect and Damon will be happy too. Another thing to mention is that no one here is against the Aspies or Damon.--Mishae (talk) 04:45, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for support on my talk ... agree this was started by JW, but are discussing works with DMW ... bringing Aspies contents in mainstream
Re above, Thanks for support on my talk - so many people been negative since the article were deleted by a majority vote ... I agree the Wiki-project was started by Jimmy Wales, but are discussing works with Damon Matthew Wise ... bringing Aspies contents from the internet into the mainstream. Many of us view his page as a start to indexing resources, pages, and reference contents from the Aspies, Cousins and Auties communities into the mainsteam.
We are working on many projects shared with people around Ireland and beyond.
Personally worked on updating the Candy Waters Tribute page while the family were at the funeral.
Yes, I am sure that many Aspies often take things personal and feel personally aggrieved as IF it is against Aspies and Damon (that seems a common perception) - I am sure as we get to work again and perfect the contents from the webpages and resources he has contributed over the years on Aspies cultural identity and language (had discovered an Early 1999 reply to a message from Vario - Tabnet about his Federation-Trust.ORG website lapsing quoting back his 1994-1999 signature showing Aspies referencea lists and available materials ... many such materials were downloaded in Internet cafes and using early Yahoo! groups and usenet and other newsgroups - as we dig further into the digital archives we uncover more content.
ICAAN HQ is at half capacity today at best - many are at the funeral. Several projects and people around the country have travelled down, I am told.

What in the world....
Aspie, you need to slow down ... A LOT. You're copy/pasting the same requests all over the place, and it's becoming problematic. The AFD was closed as delete - and rightly so. Claiming that there was any other possible close is impossible. However, Bbb23 said one thing - ask directly for userfication, and he'll do it immediately. You've never done that: instead, you have argued for its return to articlespace, which based on the AFD is impossible.
If you have a personal relationship of any type with the subject, you should never be editing ANY article about them. You're clearly too close to them to be of any help with an encyclopedia article - and continuing to edit it will just lead to more issues.
However: go back to my main point: stop arguing about the article and simply ASK Bbb23 to USERFY it. Stop pasting the same gibberish all over the project! ES&L 09:59, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
I have used Userfy request and asked to userfy or Sandbox as stated in every message ... no response. Many people in the autistic spectrum and with disabilities, have heard of, met or somehow know of or have had dealings with Damon and his family, and familiar. It would be weird if that wasn't the case! If I was close to the issue, don't you think I would have been at the funeral rather then holding the fort and posting yesterday, on work computer, laptop, etc? AspieNo1 (talk) 11:13, 27 August 2013 (UTC) AspieNo1 (talk) 11:14, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- ...and you did it again. Do not paste the same comment in multiple places - all discussions should be kept in the same place, together ES&L 11:25, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- Short form: whatever you do, do not go back and edit previous posts on his talkpage. Create a brand-new section. Say something along the lines of "I apologize if I was confusing the other day. It is not my intent to argue that the article xxxxx should be a live article at this point. I understand the arguments at the AFD, and accept that there is significant work to be done before that article could be live. I request userfication of the article so that I and others may work on the draft, and I promise to get your advice before moving it back into articlespace" .. and keep those promises. You'll find Bbb23 to be a very friendly, understanding admin ... just don't give wall'o'text, and keep your word ES&L 11:57, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Having conflict between edits and switched computer again 3 points tried to raise; 1) yes have started posting on each talk page as was told to by several users and thought it was netiquette here to show content to user who may not otherwise read; 2) knowing of, having met, familiar, having contact by any person in Ireland and the subject when talking about Aspies or disability is very likely- Damon is prolific; 3)Words and expressions used were not best example of wikipedia and detracted on the improvement and notability, which was accepted as a disability biography listing as appropriate. AspieNo1 (talk) 12:21, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- Could you PLEASE pay attention to the advice you're being given. Your most recent post on Bbb23's talkpage is clearly 180 degrees different to what I recommended above. For <insert deity name>'s sake, you REALLY need to follow the processes that this community has in place, and learn to listen to counsel. Remember that you do no have rights to edit here - you agreed to follow the community norms when you signed up - start following those norms ES&L 13:04, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Please disability-proof responses =
Please disability proof terminology and do not use TLA without explanation, such as "AFD" - terms I cannot understand I cannot explain to colleagues off wikipedia ... Sorry, but please limits TLAs (Three Lettered abbreviation, I have dyslexia and may be in the autistic spectrum - at least I identify with much discussion and resources, as well as work in the field as volunteer).

DRV
You tried to post your deletion review on the talkpage of DRV - I have moved it to the correct place. (Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2013 August 27). Black Kite (talk) 12:09, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
As requested copy of request in simpler, non-edited content summarised down - reposted for transparancy sake
1) Undelete and guidelines or 2) Deletion Review and/or 3) Userfy or 4) Sandbox of Damon_Matthew_Wise and its talk to work on it
I have asked for Deletion review on the grounds that Damon_Matthew_Wise article met criteria Disability Biography and most had changed position to keep or if not possible userfy or sandbox.
This is a WP:ASPIES article and has been recognised as passing eligibility as a Disability article and uses language accordingly.
The comments were sometimes inappropriate and distracted from autism and disability content, and was still being worked on.
Alternatively, I agree that although it is the right side of keep, such discussions may have distorted it, and as a result would be prepared for temporary undelete of article (and its talk page, which contains information on research and work in progress that the editors were working through) and userfy or sandbox - many people on wikipedia are interested in this remaining a viable article, and yes work needs to be done to improve it.
I and other editors look for instructions of what may need to be improved to keep as a disability biography, as by and large have changed it as best we can get permissions through commons.wikimedia at this time.
We hope that you can restore, or temporarily restore page into whatever way and its talk so we have a coherant, independent, neutral, balanced, references and cited and researched article. AspieNo1 (talk) 12:41, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Am still getting contradictory advice on placing of content on this talk page or the people communicating with - so can anybody please clarrify which nettiquette and when is appropriate to follow? AspieNo1 (talk) 14:35, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Some people object to responding back on their talk page, and demand contents stay here on the record ...
Yes please had discussed temporary undelete for userfication of article Damon_Matthew_Wise and its talk talk:Damon_Matthew_Wise - which shows us what was researched and being done still, or sandbox - and any recommendations what it may need would be appreciated for the editors to work on ... and when and how to see re-review - seeing as it passed its last review under category Disability biography.
Will appreciate any help. Most appreciated ... AspieNo1 (talk) 18:11, 27 August 2013 (UTC) AspieNo1 (talk) 18:11, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Public life

Aspies
In April 1993 he coined the expression Aspies verbally, but developed the concept first on RTÉ Radio in studio in September 1993 at IRECON 3 - Star Trek conference - but formalized it in print in 1994, in an early edition of the "Advantages and Disadvantages - Asperger's from an Aspies viewpoint", adapted in 1996 as a handout, and included with Asperger's Syndrome a Personal Perspective[1] as reference in RTE 1's Health Report in 1998. In 1999 he included all previously published texts on Asperger's in his social studies project entitled "Living With Aspies - Education and Autism", which was matriculated for his masters.
National representative for people with disabilities

In 1995 Wise was elected to the Clare network of the Council for the Status of People with Disabilities, and was elected to the national board of what became the Irish Council for People with Disabilities.[2]
The new national board took office at the formal launch at Dublin Castle. In attendance were Minister of Disability and Equality Mervyn Taylor, Irish President Mary Robinson and several diplomats, including US Ambassador to IrelandJean Kennedy-Smith.
Charity-OnLine
Wise is a founding member of the Irish Charity On Line Support Project.[3]
