New career info.
Please add new career information to Steve Comisar article.
He is an American Criminal, published author, confidence trickster, actor and podcaster.
Comisar hosts and produces the Spotify true crime podcast Scam Junkie.
Comisar has had several supporting acting roles in film and television.
These inclusions are noteworthy as it's interesting that a famous con man is also an actor and hosts a popular podcast.
Can someone with credentials to edit please assist with this small edit. Carlspackler75 (talk) 18:31, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
- You should post your suggestions (with reliable sources included) at Talk:Steve Comisar. Schazjmd (talk) 18:09, 17 November 2025 (UTC)
- I tried but Steve Comisar is blocked to newbies and only allows edits from experienced editors. Can you please:
- 1. Edit Steve Comisar to include podcast info;
- 2. Create a new Scam Junkie Podcast article. Carlspackler75 (talk) 20:26, 17 November 2025 (UTC)
- The article is protected by pending changes but you can edit the article's talk page. The podcast is already mentioned in the article. What independent reliable sources have given the podcast significant coverage? Those are necessary to support that the podcast is notable enough for an article. Schazjmd (talk) 20:29, 17 November 2025 (UTC)
- Just Google: Scam Junkie podcast and see the reliable sources.
- While you're at it can you mention his acting career. Also small, his several supporting roles warrant inclusion of mention to make the article more balanced. I find it interesting that the con man also had a few legit acting roles. See GQ article for referencing.
- Career: Con man, extortionist, criminal, author, actor, podcaster.
- Yes, all noteworthy, reliably sourced and appropriate, interesting, and makes a well rounded article. Carlspackler75 (talk) 21:00, 17 November 2025 (UTC)
- If you want other editors to make edits for you, you can go to the effort of locating and identifying reliable sources to support them. I will not be responding again here or on the article talk page to your requests. Also, please review the previous conversations at Talk:Steve Comisar. According to an experienced editor who dealt with this previously,
"The GQ article mentions that Comisar was on talk shows, but does not mention his acting career. (Appearing on these shows does not count as acting.)"
You'll need better sources to support any addition of acting to the article. Schazjmd (talk) 21:06, 17 November 2025 (UTC)- Read the GQ article again and on the last page you'll see where the producer of Tough Luck, Josh Etting, said that Comisar was not a bad actor, when discussing Comisar having an acting role in the film. Now that you can clearly see this hopefully you can edit his acting in Steve Comisar There you go. Please and thank you. Carlspackler75 (talk) 11:00, 21 November 2025 (UTC)

- Thanks for your message. No, I do not have any type of relationship with Steve Comisar other than I have listened to his podcast Scam Junkie on Spotify for a few years and I decided to do a Google search on him. When I saw his Wikipedia article lacked some career details I tried to edit them in to improve the article. I meant no harm by this and I certainly didn't mean to violate any rules. I used this experience to learn how to edit articles which I always wanted to do but never tried until now. They assigned me a mentor who gave me advice and I just followed it. I'm sorry if I did anything wrong. I'm just a newbie so I'll leave the editing to the experienced professionals. It seems that you guys don't like Comisar and only want his article to portray him as a bad guy and any non-criminal references to him in the article, even if they are true, will be deleted. Now I know so I'll limit myself to just reading the articles. Lesson learned. Carlspackler75 (talk) 21:41, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
- I have no objection to your adding the title of a film that Comisar appeared in. The problem with your edit that I removed, which you can see here, was broken formatting that damaged a table. Jessicapierce (talk) 04:45, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
- As you can see I'm learning as I'm going. I tried to add acting credits I found but I couldn't figure out how to make that box with the credits in it. Thanks for trying to help me. Can we please talk outside this user talk page? If you give me an email address I could send you an email and that would be more comfortable. I don't think I'm very well liked here and I'm sure I didn't intentionally do anything wrong. Carlspackler75 (talk) 05:43, 22 November 2025 (UTC)

This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on others again, as you did at User talk:Balph Eubank, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Sugar Tax (talk) 00:49, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
Article deletion
Wikipedia:Guide to deletion explains how to properly recommend an article be deleted. Typically, leaving a message on the talk page without following these processes will not result in deletion, and deletion rationales should not be added directly to articles (such as you did here). I would recommend you familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's deletion policy before nominating articles for deletion, and you may find it useful to read ongoing discussions to familiarize yourself with the process first. - I'm just learning how to do this stuff. I've only been on here a few days. I've been assigned a mentor and given articles to edit. I just thought that article should be deleted because it was not reliably sourced, had COI issues, and the subject of the article was not notable. I didn't know there was a certain way to do this. I'm just going to refrain from editing for a while, maybe forever. Carlspackler75 (talk) 23:05, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
- Deletion is a tough area to jump into as a new editor. Wikipedia:Task Center is a great resource if you're looking for things to do while you become familiar with editing! GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 23:13, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
- The first day I joined I was assigned a mentor and some articles to edit so I could get practice. I immediately noticed one of the articles was about a non notable person and the references were not reliably sourced. It seemed like the person editing it before me may have known the subject and caused a COI. I read that Wikipedia frowns on those types or articles and the proper procedure was for those articles to be nominated for deletion. I didn't know how to do that so I just winged it. I can see I'm making a big mess of things. My mentor already told me not to contact him anymore and this other senior editor accused me of personally knowing the person whose article I was trying to edit. I have been listening to the guys podcast for a few years so I decided to Google him and came across his article. When I saw that his article omitted pertinent career information I decided to edit it to make it a better article. But apparently most of the editors hate this guy and only allow details about his criminal activity to be included in the article. How was I to know all of this crooked stuff goes on behind the scenes at Wikipedia. Is there a way we can talk privately outside of these talk pages? Give me an email address and that would be a good start. Thanks for listening. Carlspackler75 (talk) 05:33, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
- I would recommend trying not to take it personally if an edit is reverted, or if an editor tries to explain to you the proper way of doing things (which I know can be somewhat esoteric). We're all trying to work on creating a better encyclopedia, and reversion/learning as you go is a part of that. I've been editing for almost twenty years and I still get reverted! It's not meant to be a rebuke — it just means something about the edit wasn't quite right.
- I'm also not seeing that anyone has "accused" you of knowing an article subject — they sent a generic message informing you about Wikipedia's COI guidelines in case you had a COI and weren't aware of them. It also doesn't appear to me that anyone has objected to your edit because they "hate this guy and only allow details about his criminal activity to be included in the article" — if you look at the edit summaries, there were issues with your edits that broke the page formatting (for example here) or added an excessive number of social media links (see WP:ELMIN). It is your responsibility to ensure your edits are not destructive to the page. While some editors may take the time to unpick an edit that has broken a page, it is also common to revert the edit and let the original editor take another swing at it. Please use the preview function when you're editing to ensure tables/etc. still appear as they should. If you're ever unsure how to do something, whether it's nominating a page for deletion or formatting a table, I'd recommend asking for help first.
- Regarding email, no, I feel that discussions about Wikipedia editing should normally happen on-wiki unless there is a very good reason for them not to (privacy issues/etc). GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 22:10, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
- You are so sweet. I can tell by the way you write you're female. Thanks for explaining things so nicely. Since you said it's okay to ask for help, can you please look at my recent edits to Steve Comisar and correct anything I did wrong? I found more acting credits to add to the external link. I didn't add them yet because I can format the table properly. I'd also like to edit a sentence about his acting into the article itself. The GQ article references his acting in the film Tough Luck and it's a reputable source. See: https://www.sabrinaerdely.com/docs/TheCreepWithTheGoldenTongue.pdf The reference is on the last page of the article. Maybe you could help me do it? It bothers me that the con man also acted in several motion pictures but every time someone tried to include it in the article itself it was reverted with a comment like, "He's only a criminal." Or something like that. He's certainly a criminal, but also a reformed criminal, a book author, a podcaster, and an actor. The fact that he is a famous criminal makes it even more appropriate that his acting roles are included in his article to make it a more fair and balanced article. I feel that readers would like to know that about him and to exclude it shows bias and prejudice to the article and the subject. If I'm off base please tell me because I'm just learning. That's all for now Gorilla Girl. Carlspackler75 (talk) 03:09, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- If you intend to be constructive on Wikipedia, I would recommend not making it weird with an editor who I believe is genuinely trying to help you. Jessicapierce (talk) 05:24, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- I wasn't trying to make it "weird" for anyone. I'll try to be more serious. Sorry if I offended anyone. I appreciate all the help everyone is giving me. If not for all the kind editors assisting me I probably would have already quit. Carlspackler75 (talk) 07:07, 25 November 2025 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: Scam Junkie podcast (November 26)

- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:Scam Junkie podcast and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
- If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted.
- If you need any assistance, or have experienced any untoward behavior associated with this submission, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk, on the reviewer's talk page or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help from experienced editors.
- I will be working on the article by sending you a list of reliably sourced references that support the Scam Junkie podcast having its own brief article. Because this podcast is hosted by a real con man Steve Comisar makes it different from the run of the mill true crime podcasts. It should have its own article and I'm hoping after you check the links I will send you within the next few days you can help me put the article together in a way it will be approved. I'm a newbie and if left to doing it myself it will never fly. Take a look at the links and then let me know if you can help me by submitting the new article. Thanks for your kind assistance. - Hopefully you can go over the article and edit it so it may be approved. I'm probably too new to editing to be creating articles but this one was so brief and the podcast really exists and it's interesting and unique enough to warrant its own article (my opinion) so think about it and try to create it using what did already as a foundation. I'd really learn a lot if you did this for me. Carlspackler75 (talk) 08:34, 28 November 2025 (UTC)

Attempting to vandalize userpage and wasting time at EFFP

- But it's okay for him to vandalize an article that myself and four other veteran editors with over 100 years of experience on Wikipedia took the time to carefully improve? Why makes what he did okay? Both offenses are not okay and I just wanted to prove a point. I'd never do that again. But I just wanted to show that it's not okay to vandalize an article, the way he did it or the way I did it. Funny how I get threatened but he gets to go on with bullying and vindictive and careless editing. Carlspackler75 (talk) 01:42, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
