Disambiguation link notification for March 28
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of foreign films set in Japan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jack O'Connell. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that your recent edit to Sweden did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.
The edit summary field looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →
Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button.
Thanks! —DIYeditor (talk) 19:42, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for updating Slovakia's global passport rank. Just as a reminder for when you update from an online citation, it's recommended that you update the |access-date= parameter to when you viewed the online version. (See here) I've already verified and updated it myself :) FutureFlowsLoveYou (talk) 09:38, 19 July 2023 (UTC)

Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. - You are reported Encylo-P-D, next time dont start edit war and before any important edit star to solve things on talk page. Dasomm (talk) 21:33, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- I very much doubt this counts as an evidence of harassment. That would be a specified collusion to commit ourselves to offensive behaviour (either direct rudeness or other uncivil behaviours - see the page), which both Dasomm and I abstain from. Øksfjord (talk) 21:35, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at List of Studio Ghibli works, you may be blocked from editing. —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 17:15, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- @TechnoSquirrel69: Please educate yourself and find out what means co-production, link If you dont have enough information about Studio Ghibli and filmmaking, you should not edit the article. Ghost in the Shell 2 is also co-production and it is not part of Ghibli Feature films in the article about Studio Ghibli. Dasomm (talk) 17:48, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced or poorly sourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at List of defunct airlines of Spain. Jetstreamer Talk 22:30, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- If you read article of that airlines, you can see, the airlines are defunct, so they belong to List of defunct airlines of Spain :) But if you want to keep the list without these information, its not my problem. Dasomm (talk) 22:31, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
June 2024

Your recent editing history at List of IIHF World Championship medalists shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Slovak buildings
Hello. Thank you for your help with the Slovak building articles I've been recently working on. I wanted to ask you if you know someone who can upload a picture of the Klingerka building on Wikimedia Commons. I can start the article right away and a depiction is really needed there. Thank you very much! JeyReydar97 (talk) 11:27, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- @JeyReydar97: Hi, I will be in Bratislava next month, I can take photo of Klingerka and also some other buildings without photo. Thank you for that articles, you doing good job! Dasomm (talk) 11:31, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- I found Klingerka photo on my phone, it is on Wikimedia Commons now. Dasomm (talk) 21:38, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- Saw it just now. Thanks. But be careful with the uploading policies and public domain attribution licenses. Many photos who are not under the right free share license can be immediately deleted by admins. JeyReydar97 (talk) 22:54, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- These are my own, dont worry. Dasomm (talk) 22:56, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- If you have the possibility, you can also upload photos of the Sky Park Towers. People seem to not understand that there are in fact four look-alike built towers instead of three (talking about the 105 m ones). JeyReydar97 (talk) 19:22, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, I will try next month, btw, if you will make article about it, Sky Park is offical name only for building 1-4, official english name Sky Park Tower (including word tower) is used only for the 5th largest building, which is under construction. https://skypark.sk/sk, https://www.skyparktower.sk/ Dasomm (talk) 19:36, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I am currently working on it. I created a table of buildings. You can check them out when it's ready. JeyReydar97 (talk) 19:56, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

VÚB Centrála image
Hi again. Do you have a better picture of the VÚB Centrála you can upload? I am currently working on the article and I don't like any of its already uploaded pictures. Thanks! JeyReydar97 (talk) 14:21, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, no, nothing right now, but later I will upload it. Dasomm (talk) 15:44, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. One more thing. Can you please help me out with looking for publications about the VÚB Centrála building in the Slovak language? There is some random attention seeker who almost senselessly tagged the article with a "may not meet notability guidelines" tag. I tried to find some refs but I couldn't find more than 4 articles which directly mention and describe the building. Can you find more of them but in your language? I assume you are a Slovak. Thanks! JeyReydar97 (talk) 21:25, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, I am Slovak, well, there is not many information about this building on the internet:

copying within Wikipedia
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved content from Pine Gap into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content (here or elsewhere), Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. List of countries with overseas military bases -- mikeblas (talk) 21:53, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
Deletion discussion of 8 Clearwater Bay Road
Hi again. I need a little help. There's an ongoing deletion discussion for one of the skyscraper articles I've recently created. The nominator tagged the article with a deletion notice over lack of resources, but another user expanded the article and proved there is enough coverage to keep it on the mainspace. The discussion have since narrowed down to a clearer consensus. Can you please take a look at the discussion here and maybe help out to give a vote in order keep the article? Thanks as always! Recent edit reversion
In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.
I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.
I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. ~~~~ S Philbrick(Talk) 13:28, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- I realize my rollback must be discouraging, as you made quite a number of consecutive edits. One of those edits this one clearly included material from this site. Some editors a surprise that when one edit in a sequence of edits is problematic, that the "remedy" will back of the entire sequence rather than surgical removal of the narrowly defined issue, but it is Wikipedia practice when encountering a clear copyright violation as part of the sequence of edits to do rollback of the entire sequence. Let me know if you feel certain that all of your other edits were written in your own words. If so, perhaps we can investigate and see a different approach is appropriate. Wonderful job at Slovakia long overdue. Just FYI... For guidance on how our featured and good country articles look like see Wikipedia:WikiProject Countries... That is also the place where you can ask questions from experienced editors in this field. Again great job and effort!

Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Death Note, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Thank you. Xexerss (talk) 01:49, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- So, do you think Death Note is not Dark fantasy anime? Did you see it? Dasomm (talk) 01:54, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- What I think about it or not is irrelevant. Nothing in the article supports the inclusion of said category. Xexerss (talk) 02:29, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Specifically, you need a newspaper article, published book (not self-published), magazine article, and/or academic journal article(s) which characterize(s) Death Note as "dark fantasy". The idea is that it has to come from a published source, instead of being an original idea. WhisperToMe (talk) 06:28, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

List of wars involving the United States map additions
This is a great idea and good work.
Here are a few countries and their corresponding wars to add:
- Kosovo Kosovo War
- Ivory Coast Ivory Coast expedition
- Modern day Comoros Johanna Expedition
- (Not sure if it is there or not based off the map) Samoa Second Samoan Civil War
- Morocco Operation Torch
- Curacao Invasion of Curaçao (1800)
- The Bahamas Raid of Nassau
- (Not sure if it is there or not based off the map) Kiribati Battle of Drummond's Island
- Bolivia (Ñancahuazú Guerrilla) Killing of Che Guevara And yes I am eventually adding this to the list down the line. (Special Activities Center which is the CIA's special forces participated in this action)
Historyguy1138 (talk) 14:29, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the list, Kosovo and Kiribati is already there, now I added Ivory Coast, Bolivia, Comoros, Samoa, Morocco, Curacao, The Bahamas, but also Christmas Island (Battle of Christmas Island) and Solomon Islands (Solomon Islands campaign). Dasomm (talk) 17:55, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
- That's great by the way, do you have Fiji First Fiji expedition Historyguy1138 (talk) 18:29, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, Fiji added. Dasomm (talk) 22:27, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Dasomm. I am not sure if we should add this or not as it is off the coast of Brazil, but during the the Civil War the USA attacked the Confederate States off the Coast of Brazil. Let me know what you think.
- Bahia incident Historyguy1138 (talk) 14:26, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Keep in mind this was a naval battle though, and did not take place on land. So I am not sure if we count it or not. Historyguy1138 (talk) 14:55, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- I am glad you still thinking how to improve the map :) Since it was only naval battle, I think Brazil shouldn't be added. Dasomm (talk) 10:06, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- Makes sense. Thought it was worth discussing at least. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 12:16, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- I added the 3 Fijian expeditions to the lists. On our index list I changed the number of conflicts from 137-140
- The one I created is the Fiji Expedition of 1840
- I attempted to change the name First Fijian Expedition to the Second, and the Second to the Third, so that I could change the Fiji Expedition of 1840 to the First.
- However, for a technical reason it let me change the Second to the Third, but not the First to the Second. I made a request to get an administrator to change it, but it will take some time.
- Fiji expeditions
- Here are the other two articles I created.
- Burning of Solevu and Tye
- Battle of Malolo Historyguy1138 (talk) 03:55, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
- Good job! I am sure, you had a lot of work with that. I had no idea there was so many Fijian Expedition. Dasomm (talk) 08:45, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you. (:
- It was, but it was fun. Personally I don't know if many people read these articles, but maybe someone will get some enjoyment after them and I think it is important for people to remember history.
- Side question. Did you see that vandal I caught who was on the 21st century list? Historyguy1138 (talk) 13:06, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's good you're keeping an eye on it, bro. Dasomm (talk) 19:36, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
- Excellent. By the way I wanted your opinion.
- So it took some doing, but I got the Fiji Expeditions changed to the 1840 Fiji expedition, the 1855 Fiji expedition, and the 1859 Fiji expedition through one of the administrators. It was the best he could do.
- However he said this:
- "Nothing to do with Wikidata. You were at the right place—WP:RM/TR. You couldn't move the article because the software Wikipedia runs on usually disllows moving over (i.e. overwriting) a page that already has something there, including redirects. The folks at RM/TR can override this restriction, but I cannot. I suggest making your request at the end of the "Uncontroversial" section; most requests do not require an administrator.
- If an article has been moved before, the RM/TR regulars are usually reluctant to move it again. In that case, please follow the instructions at WP:RM/CM. As an example, I have moved the articles to 18-- Fiji expedition. If you want to move them again, I suggest following RM/CM, not RM/TR. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 18:02, 1 July 2025 (UTC)"
- Do you think I should ask them to change the articles to the First, Second, and Third Fiji Expeditions or leave them as is? (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 19:55, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's good you're keeping an eye on it, bro. Dasomm (talk) 19:36, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

- I messaged Moxy as well, so I am just waiting on him to see what he thinks before I submit it to publishing.
- I also may be working on Robert Sedgwick's capture of Acadia as an article. I have some online resources and have ordered a book. There is no wikipedia article on it yet, but there are mentions of it in other sections. Although the link I attached on Robert Sedgwick provides limited details.

Great idea on the Emblems for the List of Wars Article, but...
I am wondering if we can do more. While it is true that there are 6 branches of the uniformed services, did you know that there are actually 8 uniformed services? I recently found out a few years back myself. The 6 branches are considered uniformed services, but there are 2 uniformed services that have only officers and no enlisted men. They are the NOAA Commissioned Officer Corps and the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. And they have emblems too (check the first link).
Also the United States Merchant Marines, while not a branch operate as an auxiliary of the Navy in times of war. And many have given their lives for the U.S.A., with little recognition. Maybe we can put their emblem somewhere as well.
I want to be clear though it's a wonderful idea that you have and I love it. I just think we can do even more. :D

21st Century USA Wars Question
Hi bud. I am just wondering, it's o.k. if you did, but did you change the sizes on the images for the 21st war articles? (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 04:39, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, no, no, I didnt change the size and I have no idea, why that images are so small there... size setting is same as in List of wars involving the United States from the 18th and 19th centuries. Dasomm (talk) 09:33, 25 April 2025 (UTC)

List of Wars Involving the United States
Hi Dasomm great work lately on the list of wars articles. Question. I do not necessarily mind breaking up the 18th and 19th century war articles, but would you like it better if we made them into two separate articles?
By the way I have 2 updates.
- A new colonial war article that I made is almost going to be published out of the draft space.
- I am working on an article that is almost done and when finished I guarantee 3 new (in a sense) war articles for our list. I will explain later, but when it is done I would like you to look at it before I publish it. Keep up the great work. You are very enjoyable to work with and I think we have done great work together. (:
Historyguy1138 (talk) 00:15, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- If you can separate it and if you agree, it would be great. At first, I was thinking it would be fine to have it as one, but when I thinking about it more, each century should have own list. And well done! You doing really good job :) I just doing minor changes, but yeah, we done great work together, there was really a lot of edits. Dasomm (talk) 00:22, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah not a problem. Give me a bit of time to work on it, and I may need your help on some minor editing after we create it, but I can absolutely get that done. I am fine with that. Moxy🍁 would know no doubt be happy with that too.
- Thanks friend. (:
- I am curious what got you interested in American military history and wikipedia in general? Historyguy1138 (talk) 01:01, 5 June 2025 (UTC)

- Good job again Historyguy1138! And I am not interested particularly in American military history, but history overall. I started editing the article about military history extensively, because it was kind of a mess before, and I just want to make it look better for WP readers. :) Dasomm (talk) 09:41, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
- "because it was kind of a mess before, and I just want to make it look better for WP readers. :)" Well you have done an amazing job. Not only do you have a lot of knowledge in certain areas, but you update the modern stuff, and you are good at layout and template design. Excellent work.
- By the way I think I am done with the draft and have fixed the notes. Let me know what you think and we can publish it, begin adding it to the index articles, and include it as a link to the other articles. Historyguy1138 (talk) 13:49, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

- I split the colonial wars. If you can check for mistakes and update this template.
- Thanks. (:

- Hi Dasomm so this is what I have been working on recently. It is almost finished, however I think I am going to work on a specific articles on the Battle of Malolo and the Burning of Solevu and Tye, before I publish this.
- This article needs some grammar and spelling edits here and there, but what I want to know from you is the article itself to long for Wikipedia standards?
- So part of the reason I am doing this article is because wikipedia has an articles on the so called 1st and 2nd Fijian military expeditions, but they are wrong in that this article I am working on actually shows that there was a 3rd military expedition that took place before that.
- So after I publish this article I will change the 2nd to the 3rd, the 1st to the 2nd, and then my article to the 1st. That being said please don't publish these expeditions to our lists. I will do it myself when I am done with my articles. I have been planning it for a while, and I want to make sure everything is done 100% correctly so that we do not have to change things later.
- That being said what do you think of the article? If you want feel free to fix any grammar mistakes you see, but don't worry if not. I will be proofreading it myself soon, and have another proof reader in my family. The main thing I want to know is if you think this article is too long or not. Thanks in advance. (:

- Fiji expeditions Historyguy1138 (talk) 18:21, 17 June 2025 (UTC)

Israel–Hezbollah conflict (2023–present)
Should we add the Israel–Hezbollah conflict (2023–present) to the list of Wars of the 21st century article based on the same THAAD mindset as the war in Gaza and Iran? (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 12:27, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

- I already wrote my answer on talk page there - From my point of view, U.S. (minor) involvement in this war has already ended. A lot of sources say Hezbollah was defeated, the press calls it a victory for Israel, Hassan Nasrallah was killed. The U.S. only helped them to shoot down Hezbollah missiles and with intelligence during the most difficult phase of the war. I understand that the Israel–Hezbollah conflict can continue for another 50 years, with skirmishes and sporadic fighting persisting, but this article is about the United States. I don't see any source detailing how the U.S. helped them fight Hezbollah in 2023 or 2025. That's the reason why only the year 2024 is mentioned in infobox. Wondering what other people think. Dasomm (talk) 20:46, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
- Ooooh sorry Dasomm (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Dasomm) I didn’t see that. Your logic makes sense to me.
- Follow up question by this same logic would you say the USA’s involvement in the Gaza conflict is over? Sincere question, I actually don’t know. You tend to be more knowledge on this topic than I am at this point. 🙂 Historyguy1138 (talk) 22:53, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

- Hi Dasomm so recently I became aware that there are national barnstars for merit. I noticed that there is not yet one for the United States. Proposal for New Conflicts Involving the United States
Hi Dasomm I found several new conflicts for us to potentially add.
I wanted your thoughts on each:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Woody_Point (led by captain Jonathan Thorn) (also these men may be classified as merchant marines) I am not saying we do add this one, I just figure the case should be made as it is an interesting one)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirk%E2%80%93Holden_war
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_Intervention
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pakistan%E2%80%93United_States_skirmishes
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filibuster_War (us navy capture filibusters)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_of_Sidra_incident_(1981)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_in_the_Gulf_of_Sidra_(1986) Historyguy1138 (talk) 19:04, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
- ummmm, I dont think we should add these: Battle of Woody Point (not war, only battle/incident), Kirk–Holden war (police operation), Gulf of Sidra incident (only incident, not military operation), Sugar Intervention (not an intervention, only the Cuban government formally invited the US army to train in)
I am not sure about: Pakistan–United States skirmishes (part of the War in Afghanistan?)
Definetly we should add Action in the Gulf of Sidra-Operation Prairie Fire (1986), Filibuster War (we can add it as limited involvment) and about others I am not sure...Dasomm (talk) 12:14, 5 July 2025 (UTC)- 1. " Battle of Woody Point (not war, only battle/incident)," True true, however we do include the case of the Battle of Ty-ho Bay and 2020 Nigeria hostage rescue. And according to criteria 1 we say "To display a wider sense of the scope of U.S. involvement in "wars" this list focuses on any military conflicts involving the United States Military regardless of size" I am not saying that we do include this battle, but I don't think we should exclude it for those reasons.
- 2. What about the Gulf of Sidra Incident 1981? Should we include both 1981 and 1986? Also I just found out there was another one in 1989. 1989 air battle near Tobruk
- 3. I think we can also add Paraguay. I just found out about the Water Witch Affair in 1855.
- "On 1 February 1855, the Water Witch approached Fort Itapiru and the entrance to Canal Privodo. Lieutenant Jeffers knew that foreign warships were banned from Paraguay waters, and he anticipated trouble, moving the starboard gun to the port side and ordering ammunition (regular shells, shrapnel shells, and grape shot) readied for use. At 1320, the fort sent a canoe out to Water Witch and offered to provide a copy of Lopez’ decree. Because the decree was in Spanish, Jeffers refused to accept it, even though Water Witch had crewmen aboard who could speak Spanish, including an Argentine river pilot. The fort hailed Water Witchwhen the distance closed to 300 yards, but Jeffers claimed not to understand. Then the fort fired two blank shots, but Water Witch pressed forward. The fort fired a third time, this time with a live round that hit and killed the helmsman, Samuel Chaney. Water Witch returned fire with three howitzers and reversed course. The fort continued firing, hitting Water Witch in the hull ten times, destroying two boats and damaging a paddle wheel. Water Witch made it back to an Argentine port."
- I might make an article on this someday as the affair does not have its own article, but is referenced in both the Water Witch article and the Paraguay expedition (1858–1859) (which does not count, because there was not violence, but the Water Which affair would I think).
- 4. By the way did you ever look into adding Greenland to your map per the German incursions into Greenland and capture by Americans? Not sure if we should or not, but it is worth discussing. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 16:43, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- 4. Greenland added to the map, U.S. Greenland Patrol was active there during WW2.
- 3. Thats good idea!
- Excellent. Will you add Paraguay too? Or would you prefer to wait for me to add the situation to the Water Witch affair first?
- Also on the lists article? Could you add the seal of the Merchant Marines to the article somewhere? (:
- File:Seal of the United States Merchant Marine.svg Historyguy1138 (talk) 16:21, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- With Paraguay I will wait until you add it to the Water Witch affair first :) Then let me know. But, about new logo I am not sure, we should keep only emblems of the eight U.S. uniformed services. Otherwise, someone will want to include the Civil Air Patrol logo, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary logo and so on... Many have given their lives for the United States, but this shouldn't be a page for logos. Dasomm (talk) 16:53, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- Fair points to all. Historyguy1138 (talk) 16:55, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- Excellent news Dasomm. I did more research into the overall United Statws La Plata Expedition 1853-1856 and I discovered not only the Water Witch Incident, but that a few months later that same year the expedition also explored rivers in Argentina where they teamed up with some Argentina Calvary against some South American Indians in another battle.
- I might add the Water Witch Incident linking it to the Water Witch ship article (where there is a brief description) to our list or I may create the Water Witch article first then create the one for this battle.
- But eventually we will be able to add both Paraguay and Argentina to the map. :D Historyguy1138 (talk) 16:40, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, good job, so then I add Paraguay and Argentina to the map! Dasomm (talk) 16:54, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- Yes sir. I will start research now. As I want to be thorough, but yes absolutely.
- Also let me know if you know of any good translators for Spanish on Wikipedia. There is a related article that ideally it would be great if it would be translated to link to the article. It is not essential, but preferable to making the article. I know of one Wikipedia translator and I have sent him a message to help with the project, but in case he says he cannot I will keep looking for other alternatives. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 16:58, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- ummm, maybe Google Translate can be helpful :) Dasomm (talk) 17:41, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

- Ok, good job, so then I add Paraguay and Argentina to the map! Dasomm (talk) 16:54, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- 4. Greenland added to the map, U.S. Greenland Patrol was active there during WW2.
- Hi Dasomm should we add this war? (:
- Let me know and I will add it myself.
- Liberian–Grebo War Historyguy1138 (talk) 17:15, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- I should add that the Republic of Maryland was a semi colony of the United States just like Colony of Liberia see the American Colonization Society. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 17:33, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- I am going to put it in, if you think I should remove it later let me know. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 16:54, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- ummmm, I dont think we should add these: Battle of Woody Point (not war, only battle/incident), Kirk–Holden war (police operation), Gulf of Sidra incident (only incident, not military operation), Sugar Intervention (not an intervention, only the Cuban government formally invited the US army to train in)
WW2 Locations
Question are you focusing on places where the United fought in or were? There is also the Panama Canal Zone depending on how you are categorizing things. Historyguy1138 (talk) 00:12, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- I've included this list in the infobox to explain the numerous countries shown on my map, focusing where the United States fought in or attacked. If you can add any new location, I will be glad, Aruba was fine :) Dasomm (talk) 00:20, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- Cool cool. If I can think of any I will let you know. By the way keep an eye out for the Iran-Israel war article. I added Saudi-Arabia to it. People may debate it, but if not consider adding it to our list too. Historyguy1138 (talk) 00:24, 7 July 2025 (UTC)

Formatting Issue
Hi Dasomm. I want to add the Burning of Colón to the List of wars involving the United States in the 19th century. But it has 3 factions instead of the normal 2. You are good at formatting I would like your opinion on what would be the best approach to present this conflict with only two columns in our chart available.
Thank you. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 20:00, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hey, no problem, just check the US intervention in the Syrian Civil War in the List of wars involving the United States in the 21st century; there, you can also see three factions in only two columns: the Global Coalition, the Ba'athist regime, and Jihadists. Dasomm (talk) 21:38, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
- I appreciate you.
- Actually Dasomm it looks like that the article is suffering from Wikipedia:Link rot and the original creator was blocked due to copyright violations 10 years ago. I have restored 1 link, but it also seems to me that the Americans and Colombians were on the same side. I am also not sure why Chile is on there. Not saying they weren't there, I am just saying this article needs some serious TLC.
- I am going to make this a side project and maybe consult the military history project. Historyguy1138 (talk) 04:07, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
- Ah I got great historical context and fixed all the rot. It was easier than expected.
- Brief note though: They fought in Colon modern day Panama, but did not attack Chile or Colombia. They were not on the same side, in that the USA wanted to gain control of Panama, but at the same time stop the rebels from holding their people hostage. Colombia did not want them there, but did not want to necessarily attack them directly. Chile sent a Navy ship in the hopes of kicking out the United States, but by the time they got there, the US had already left the area. Historyguy1138 (talk) 15:33, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
- Good job, I am sorry I can't help with that :) Dasomm (talk) 21:51, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
- No worries. I just wanted to let you know in case you were considering adding those to the map. Not saying you should or should not, as technically we were in modern day Panama and we were fighting rebels not Columbians, though they were not 100% happy we were there. United States during the Turkish War of Independence
Hi Dasomm. I was wondering if you wanted to help me put a few notes in the United States during the Turkish War of Independence inclusion. I would do it myself, but the way it is set up code wise, makes me think I might do more harm than good.
If you don't feel comfortable I think I know another editor who can help us. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 19:22, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Historyguy, I don't have much time for editing these days, so I'd better ask someone else. But if I see a mistake, I'll fix it :) Btw, you did a good job! I add Turkey and Liberia to the map. Dasomm (talk) 19:39, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- No worries. Hope all is going ok with you. I understand life stuff must come first.
- And awesome, and thank you :D. Still writing those articles that will included Paraguay and Argentina, but it will take some time if I want to do it right. But I will keep you posted. Right now I am in the research phase. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 19:44, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Brilliant Job with Operation Valuable
Outstanding job Dasomm. I have never even heard of this conflict before. Way to go. I have a lot of fires burning at the moment, but in the future I may even try to do more research and improve this one thank you. :D
Side note I was thinking of adding the Overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom#United States. I know we said no coups, but I think the spirit of the rule was more no USA based coup attempts in the same vein as rebellions. No one got killed, but the USA literally took over another nation, so I think it deserves coverage. But what do you think? (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 17:25, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
Question about the new entries in the Lists of Wars
This is all great work. I just wonder if we are going beyond or purview per se. With the Operation Valuable there were directly Americans involved and on the field. Not sure about Guatemala and the Contra affair. Before you and I redid the original list I think with a few exceptions they did not focus on indirect support.
That being said I am more of a completionist myself, so if you want to include these conflicts I will back you up (:. Although I think maybe we might want to include two maps on the index article. One for direct military conflicts involving the USA and one for both. And by direct I mean mean boots on the ground. I would include Operation Valuable in that.
Also consider the Salvadoran Civil War (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 20:13, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hey thanks :) The name of the article is 'Lists of wars involving the United States.' All the conflicts I added had direct involvement from the United States - boots on the ground :). This means, that Americans were sent to those countries to train armed forces and even were dying there, not just that the U.S. provided financial or military support. Also, I believe, that the scale of the conflict, or the degree to which the United States was involved, is not important. By reading the article, anyone can find out the scale of U.S. involvement. Dasomm (talk) 20:34, 31 July 2025 (UTC)

- Good thanks, I just wanted to make that clear :) Dasomm (talk) 20:59, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- Should we add the Salvadoran Civil War? The U.S. provided training as well as military equipment and finances. And lieutenant commander Albert Schaufelberger was assassinated there. I would be happy to add it. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 18:30, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- I already added it yesterday :D Check List of wars involving the United States in the 20th century. Dasomm (talk) 18:41, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- Oooooh shoot well done. Any other conflicts that you added that I missed?
- You know I may be dating myself, but I think we have created the most complete online list of conflicts for the United States. And I think it will be an amazing tool for education for our readers and make it easier for them to understand a basic timelines of American military history. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 18:44, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- I also think the list is already amazing! Right now, no other conflict coming to my mind, but I'm sure there's still something we can add. Dasomm (talk) 18:51, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- Agreed. But we could not have accomplished it without you. Your research into modern conflicts especially is invaluable and your layout design is fantastic. Honestly if we ever more or less complete this list I am considering seeing if I can attempt to give another countries list the same treatment. Perhaps Canada or the UK? But that is I think a long way off.
- Oh there are several related to American conflicts with China during the Yangtze patrol I assure you. I am having User:McChonki doing some research on something for me before I add 1 in particular.
- Then of course there is my Argentina and Paraguay project.
- There are a handful of others I am looking into from other times and locations, but I am doing more research and updates before I add them. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 18:57, 1 August 2025 (UTC)

Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922) vs. Turkish War of Independence, plus Taiwan Conflicts.
The Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922) and the Turkish War of Independence are two separate but intertwined conflicts? How should we depict them on the lists?
Also do these 3 conflicts fit out criteria?
Historyguy1138 (talk) 20:58, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- I think Greco-Turkish War was a major part of the broader Turkish War of Independence, in infobox we can write it as - part of the Turkish War of Independence.
- First Taiwan Strait Crisis - yes, the U.S. Navy assisted in the evacuation of Taiwanese troops and civilians from the Dachen Islands (Operation King Kong)
- Second Taiwan Strait Crisis - yes, the U.S. Navy and Air Force deployed a number of aircraft to Taiwan and U.S. naval vessels helped to enforce a naval blockade to protect the supply lines to the offshore islands.
- Third Taiwan Strait Crisis - yes, the U.S. deployed two aircraft carrier battle groups, the USS Nimitz and the USS Independence, largest display of U.S. naval power in the region since the Vietnam War.
Good job :) Dasomm (talk) 21:11, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- I am pleased you like it.
- I also have the Dirty War and Operation Cyclone
- Should we add Japan as a supporting faction in the Turkish war of Independence, they appear on the Greco-Turkish War article.
- Also for the List of wars involving the United States in the 20th century and List of wars involving the United States in the 19th century should we at some point consider breaking both in half if we keep adding conflicts, at least down the line? Especially if Moxie or someone raises a fuss? (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 21:42, 2 August 2025 (UTC)

- Cool cool. I will add Japan some time in the near future.
- Are there any of these conflicts you want me add to share the load. I knew of these conflicts for some time, but have not posted them because under the old guard pre list splitting they were not wanted. And you seem excited over these new entries so I wanted to run them by you as well, especially since this is new ground we are breaking into. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 22:41, 2 August 2025 (UTC)

Proposal for a New List and U.S. Involvement in the Colombian conflict
Hi Dasomm.
- 1. Maybe we could a separate list of domestic conflicts involving the U.S. armed forces similar to this template here Template:Armed conflicts involving the United States Armed Forces. Except we would put the list specifically for Domestic conflicts. We would not include territorial rebellions, Bleeding Kansas, the American Revolution, Indian Wars, and the Civil war as those are already covered with specific criteria in our lists already. But for this list we actually would include riots, all types of rebellions, slave rebellions, labor wars, the Wounded Knee Occupation and the Alcatraz occupation, and these conflicts could also involve the national guard. This would be different than the List of conflicts in the United States, in that we are specifically going after conflicts involving the U.S. military. Not conflicts in general.
- What do you think? (: I can draft the list myself and show it to you before publication. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 14:49, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- 2. We should include the Colombian Conflict on our lists.
- Overtime the U.S. went after both Communist groups such as FARC and Narcos.
- General William P. Yarborough#Colombia helped the Colombians organize Plan Lazlo and raid the Marquetalia Republic after La Violencia.
- Later the U.S. helped with Plan Colombia and trained Search Bloc. This picture was taken by Stephen Murphy (civil servant) who supported and indirectly participated in the Death of Pablo Escobar: Death of Pablo Escobar#/media/File:Death of Pablo Escobar.jpg

Going on vacation
Hi Dasomm. I am going on vacation on Wednesday for a bit over a week. Please mind the lists for me (personal life permitting of course). Will still be working on all my current projects gradually until then. Keep up the great work and I wish you very well. Thank you my friend. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 13:48, 18 August 2025 (UTC)

I will also do research for Colombia, but won't add it until you get back. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 19:36, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Dasomm are you back from your vacation? I thought you left already. (:
- What do you think of these two?
- Falklands Expedition
- USS Congress incident
- Personally I think the USS Congress incident was a Inconclusive/Other Result.
- Also we should talk about the U.S. Intervention in Turkey when you get back. There has been an update. Historyguy1138 (talk) 18:13, 1 September 2025 (UTC)

US War on Cartels
Hi Dasomm. So what’s the plan? Are you thinking of reducing the War to just the 2025 United States strike on a Southern Caribbean boat for now? Also side note if you look at my most recent addition to the war article the Secretary of State just declared that this would be a campaign. Thanks (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 21:02, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
- We need to wait and we will see... there is still no clear consensus about this topic in discussion :) In any case, we should wait some time to see, how things will develop, before we add anything to the list. Dasomm (talk) 08:09, 4 September 2025 (UTC)
- Very well. Although at the very least we should add the boat attack, but we can let it breath for a bit. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 12:53, 4 September 2025 (UTC)
- So it seems to me that the 2025 United States strike on Venezuelan boat argument has settled, but not the 2025 U.S. military campaign against cartels, and a new article the 2025 US Caribbean naval deployment has been created. I propose we add this situation back to the list, but for now just as the boat strike until their is any new escalation. What do you think? (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 16:33, 12 September 2025 (UTC)

Haitian conflict (2020–present) Historyguy1138 (talk) 16:51, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- I see there is only military aid and humanitarian aid..., this one should not be there. Dasomm (talk) 18:11, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- True true. Clarifying question? Is it more the training example or the intelligence example such as in the Ukrainian conflict as to how specifically we count U.S. participation. Not just sending military and humanitarian conflict? (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 19:13, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- Exactly, we should not include conflicts where U.S. support is really minimal, such as sending only weapons or humanitarian aid (together with another 40 countries...). This would otherwise lead to a confusing list of over (maybe) 300 conflicts, where the U.S. was not a major player. Dasomm (talk) 19:58, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- Gotcha gotcha sounds reasonable and duly noted. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 19:59, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- Indirect U.S. involvement is acceptable, but even indirect involvement should play a major role in a conflict :) Dasomm (talk) 20:04, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- Gotcha so we are to put it simply looking for indirect roles, but with a bit more substance i.e. military training or intelligence support. Historyguy1138 (talk) 20:10, 8 September 2025 (UTC)

Help with formatting
Hi Dasomm. I think some one redid some of the formatting when creating new cells for conflict on this page. It makes it so that by default the words in the cell are automatically aligned to the middle and not the left, and the words are automatically put in bold. It doesn't prevent me from editing, it just makes it more difficult. When you have the time could you look into if you think you can fix it. Thank you. I love the way we work together/ 2014 hostage rescue operations in Yemen
Well done with your additions to the Yemeni conflict. I love working on these lists.
Question did we want to give the 2014 hostage rescue operations in Yemen their own cell? (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 23:06, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
- I would not make a separate cell for this one. The hostage rescue operation is part of the war on terror in Yemen and part of the fight against Al-Qaeda in Yemen. It belongs to US intervention in Yemen. Similarly, the rescue mission of Captain Richard Phillips and the crew of the Maersk Alabama is mentioned in Operation Ocean Shield. Dasomm (talk) 23:24, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
- Ah I see. I guess my question is then why do we list the US intervention in Yemen as starting in 2015, if the hostage rescue missions started in 2014? Historyguy1138 (talk) 23:34, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
- US intervention in Yemen (against Al-Qaeda) is ongoing (2002–present), and US intervention in Saudi Arabian–led operations in Yemen (against Houthis) ended (2015–2021) and please dont revert sourced edits. Check President Biden ends support for Yemen offensive in diplomacy reset or here Biden announces end to US support for Saudi-led offensive in Yemen. Dasomm (talk) 23:36, 18 September 2025 (UTC)

New inclusion on List of wars involving the United States in the 19th century
Should we include this: Brazilian Naval Revolts?
And especially this: Rio de Janeiro Affair? Historyguy1138 (talk) 13:12, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, definitely, in January 1894, US naval forces, led by Rear Admiral Andrew Benham, challenged and effectively broke the rebel blockade of the port of Rio de Janeiro. Dasomm (talk) 19:06, 22 October 2025 (UTC)

Manipulation
The redesign of the page about Robert Fico is a prime example of political biased manipulation against this personality. Shame. ~2025-30526-31 (talk) 12:28, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
- Uh friend. I literally have no idea what you are talking about, all the information is based on relevant sources. With @Burrobert, we are doing our best to write all information in a neutral way. Dasomm (talk) 12:30, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
- I am not working on that page, but reviewed Dasomm's contributions. And he seems only to be condensing information, rewording it for better flow, and adding to it, giving our readers access to more information.
- I have worked with Dasomm on several projects now. He has no more than any other editors does and he rarely shows them. He also is open to constructive criticism, he communicates effectively, and compromises with others. I have never had any conversations with him that we were not able to work out.
- As for his work in general it is exemplary to say the least. I think he does a wonderful job, and he's only improved on wikipedia.
- For future reference before you go "shaming" any wikipedia editor please speak with them first and approach them cheerfully. You not only catch more flies with honey than with vinegar that way, but you will more easily get clarification on any potential disagreements you might have. Or you may find, as I think you would in this case that there is some type of misunderstanding.

- Thanks bro! :) Btw, I'm keeping an eye on the Lists of wars involving the United States article, but the piece about Fico urgently needs a complete rewrite. Since he is a controversial figure and so much information is absent, I figured a lot of people wouldn't like my edits. Dasomm (talk) 17:42, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
- Makes sense. The article says he is "as populist, left-wing and conservative."
- Seems like this is one of those articles where you run the his of making people both on the left and the right unhappy. I have little to no knowledge on Fico. So I am afraid I cannot help you with this one. But I am sure you will do well. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 21:42, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

Adding not to Criteria for list of wars.
Hi Dasomm I was thinking that we could add a note for the criteria " Evacuations from an active war zone" I was thinking we could add a note that says something like.
"If it is demonstrated that an Evacuation which is isolated from any other conflict, became a fighting withdrawal whereby U.S. forces came under fire and/or fired at an enemy while retreated then this may be considered a military conflict"
What do you think?
I know of this example, except it features the German military "Operation Libelle" Historyguy1138 (talk) 17:51, 15 November 2025 (UTC)

Hi Dasoomm did you here about that attack on the U.S. Embassy in Haiti? U.S. Marines exchanged gunfire with Haitian gangsters.

South Korea in 'Foreign policy' section of Robert Fico
Ahoj Dasomm, thanks again for all your contributions to the Robert Fico article. Since you've kind of adopted this page as your own, I decided I'd ask this before taking the plunge with any major edits; I also just admire your work and would appreciate your feedback.
As the title says, I was wondering if you think there's enough material to add a South Korea section to Robert Fico's foreign policy? It'd be focusing on these things, plus whatever else I find:
https://koreajoongangdaily.joins.com/2007/10/30/socialAffairs/Slavic-partner-/2882159.html (2007) -> Fico's first visit to South Korea, referenced within article on strategic partnership (2024)
https://www.korea.net/NewsFocus/policies/view?articleId=131232 (2015) --> Robert Fico + rest of Visegrád group summits with Park Geun-hye, nuclear energy cooperation, some info about Incheon-Bratislava airport construction that I wasn't able to corroborate in another source (currently looking). If you're unfamiliar, Korea.net is an official web portal of the SK government, so it's reputable
https://www.koreaherald.com/article/3484248 (2024) --> Robert Fico and Yoon Suk-yeol signed the two countries into their first strategic partnership, focusing on "trade, investment, energy security and defense industry" but esp. nuclear energy. There are MANY sources on this
Anyways I'd appreciate your thoughts. I'm perfectly happy to start working on this myself, but as I am a student with limited free time in my schedule, I might not get around to it for a few days. Dobok (talk) 21:43, 17 November 2025 (UTC)
- Ahoj :) Great idea! There is absolutely enough material to create a dedicated section on South Korea. I'm happy to write it up. If you don't mind, I can draft the section and add it to the article tomorrow. You can then review it, add any specific details, or make edits whenever you have the time. Concern over List of wars involving the United States in the 19th century/ Possible leave of absense
Hi Dasomm.
I have been having a hard time loading the compare selected revisions in the page history tab for List of wars involving the United States in the 19th century
I am not 100% sure what the issue is, but I wonder if the page is getting too long for processing. Not necessarily, because of photos, but overall length. Wanted to know your thoughts and to see if you think we should split it in half.
Also about half way through next year, I may or may not be taking an extended 2-3 year leave of absence from Wikipedia for remote travel. If this occurs, and it may not I would like you and perhaps User:McChonki to maintain the lists and maintain the criteria if possible. I will talk to him about this too.
I think he actually shares our outlook about the lists. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 17:06, 24 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hey Historyguy1138 :), well, I don't think we should split the page List of wars involving the United States in the 19th century based on the issue you're experiencing with. The existing parent page, List of wars involving the United States, is already split by centuries, which is a very logical and manageable division for a subject like military history. Splitting the 19th-century list further would likely create a more fragmented and less intuitive browsing experience for readers, making it harder to cover the entire century's context in one place.
We'll definitely coordinate with User:McChonki to keep the list criteria maintained if you go. A 2-3 year trip is quite a long time! Btw, may I ask you, where are you from? :) Dasomm (talk) 17:29, 24 November 2025 (UTC)
- I agree. I would prefer to keep the list separated by centuries, I just worry about processing. We have also had several editors besides you, me, or McChonki make editing mistakes because they did not read the criteria. And some of them I had to look for without the use of the compare selected revisions.
- We can readdress this another time or find another solution. But it is a concern.
- Yes. It will be a whole thing. Yes from the USA. Historyguy1138 (talk) 18:44, 24 November 2025 (UTC)

Discovered new conflict
Hi Dasomm I found a new conflict, but it is a bit tricky. The English fought it in it in New England, but it was not a colony at that time. However, the territory in which it was fought later became a colony.
What do you think?

The 2025 U.S. Embassy Shooting in Haiti was an armed confrontation that took place on November 13, 2025, at the United States Embassy complex in Tabarre, a northern suburb of the capital, Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The incident involved an exchange of gunfire between U.S. Marines providing embassy security and a group of armed assailants, strongly suspected to be local gang members affiliated with the powerful and volatile Viv Ansanm coalition. There were no casualties reported.
The skirmish unfolded amid the ongoing Haitian conflict and the wider Haitian crisis (2018–present), a period characterized by extreme political instability, a humanitarian emergency, and the near-total collapse of state authority, with criminal gangs controlling an estimated 80-90% of the capital.Dasomm (talk) 23:01, 30 November 2025 (UTC)

- We could say something like. If it can be demonstrated that the U.S. participated through direct military intervention in a foreign conflict, then this criteria does not apply." What do you think? (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 16:07, 1 December 2025 (UTC)

I am creating a list of conflicts involving Barbary Corsairs and I want your thoughts
Please take a look at both
User:Historyguy1138/sandbox25 (Note the links at the bottom are just links that I am going over latter to see if I can add some more conflicts.
User talk:Historyguy1138/sandbox25
The three barbary states of Tripoli, Tunis, and Algiers were autonomous/ suzerain dependencies under the Ottoman Empire. Therefore, conflicts only involving the Ottoman Empire, but not pirates under these barbary states should not be included on this list. Instead only conflicts which feature barbary pirates should be listed. Similarly wars only involving Morocco, but not the Salé Rovers should not be included. If other Barbary Cities in Morocco or elsewhere are discovered then conflicts involving them may be added.
Thanks. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 03:53, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
What should we do about boat seizures? And shows of force?
Here are a few boat seizures by the United States and boats that were seized by the United States?
Should we allow boat seizures as conflict or no?
What about gunboat diplomacy and shows of force?
My sense is maybe fore boat seizures, but no for shows of force and gun boat diplomacy unless like the recent boat strikes they actually result involve shooting actions. Should we add this to the criteria?
Operation Combat Fox was when North Korea seized the USS Pueblo (AGER-2) and Operation Formation Star was the response.
A US boat was captured by Iran in 2016 U.S.–Iran naval incident, also the US seized some oil shipments from Iran in 2020.
The US also seized the MV Morning Glory from Libya just before the US intervention in Libya (2015–2019) Historyguy1138 (talk) 21:49, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- I think, boat seizures, gunboat diplomacy, and shows of force should generally not be included in a our List of wars involving the US because they are fundamentally tools of coercive diplomacy and crisis management aimed at avoiding armed conflict. Your proposed criteria—that the action must "actually result involve shooting actions"—is the most effective way to distinguish between a military demonstration (like Operation Formation Star or the 2016 US-Iran incident) and an act of war or a hostile engagement. Dasomm (talk) 22:52, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- Very good I will add it to the criteria then if that's ok with you. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 02:12, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- Ooooh actually wait a second. What about the Moroccan seizure of the Betsey on our lists that was a seizure that ended in a treat of friendship, also the American–Algerian War in that one war was declared and Americans were sold into slavery, but to my knowledge there was not shooting actions?
- I am wondering if we should keep solitary seziures, but leave out things like Operation Combat Fox unless it includes shooting actions. Because people were captured, not just the ships. Historyguy1138 (talk) 02:18, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- So should we count it if people were captured, there was a shooting action, or war with treaty? But not stand alone military deployments/ shows of force/ gun boat diplomacy? (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 18:52, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, so keep it if people were captured, there was shooting, or it led to a formal treaty. Leave out stand-alone shows of force. Dasomm (talk) 17:28, 13 December 2025 (UTC)
- Yes indeed. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 17:42, 13 December 2025 (UTC)

Concerning the 2025 United States strikes in Nigeria
Hi Dasomm. I hope you had an amazing Christmas and and will still be spending some time with family as we go into the new year. (:
Small note on the 2025 United States strikes in Nigeria and the 2020 Nigeria hostage rescue, these are actually 2 separate conflicts with 2 separate belligerents. The kidnappers of 2020 were not linked the kidnappers to any terrorist organization, although likely they would have sold the hostages to a terrorist organization in the future as this is a common practice at the time.
And as far as the 2025 strikes are concerned the Department have stated that these strikes are the first of many. So the conflict is still ongoing.
No worries I can see why you might combine the two together. I will change it back to the way it was before sometime later today or tommorrow.
Hope you continue to enjoy and happy Christmas season.
P.S. let me know if you need help with Ihaasa (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 17:06, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- Ah, really? In that case, please revert my edits. Sorry, I thought that the kidnappers were linked to the Islamic State! I’ve sent my opinions on everything to Ihaasa on Talk page, please add some of your thoughts later. I'm flying to London this weekend, so I won't be able to participate in editing for a few days. Dasomm (talk) 17:12, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- Will do on both accounts. I will do my best with Ihaasa, what do you think about some of the conflicts he has suggested. Some of them like the Colombia conflict I agree with him on and I planned at some point to add it down the line after I did more research on it. I think we can reach some type of compromise with him.
- Safe travels my friend. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 17:17, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you :) Dasomm (talk) 17:23, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- Compromise is fine, If the US was involved in Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Angola through training, intelligence, and armament, I have no problem with that. But I do have a problem if he wants to add wars where the US provided only humanitarian aid, financial assistance, or diplomatic support. Dasomm (talk) 17:22, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- I agree. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 23:23, 27 December 2025 (UTC)
Added new conflict and Map update
Hi Dasomm I added the Paraguay expedition#Assessment to our lists. Just to let you know I am still working on this articles very own page. But there's a lot of research to go over. I am attempting to get it done before my 3 year trip later this year.
Can you add Paraguay to our map please. Also was there a conflict where the United States fought in Uruguay?
Thank you my friend. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 20:18, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
- Also can you update it so Nigeria is in yellow please. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 21:42, 29 December 2025 (UTC)
- For when you get back there has also been the first land strike in Venezuela, so if you could please add Venezuela to the map to whenever you can I would appreciate it. (:

- Ummm, location is Río de la Plata, forms part of the border between Argentina and Uruguay, so I think we should just add Río de la Plata as location to infobox in List of wars involving the United States in the 19th century and I remove Uruguay from the map :) Dasomm (talk) 10:21, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hmmmm. I think it would be fine to remove Uruguay, but I would recommend we add Argentina. I believe it would be one of the "Countries the United States have attacked war based on locations on the lists" for the map criteria.
- We are going to eventually add it anyway as well after I am done writing that one article on the La Platta expedition where the United States fought with Argentina in a small battle against South American Indians. User:Historyguy1138/sandbox17
- It will just take a while. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 18:44, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
- Ok, I agree, I will update the map! :) Btw, regarding the 2025 United States strikes in Nigeria, I don't believe this qualifies as an 'ongoing' military operation. Based on the article, it was a single strike with no troops deployed on the ground. If further strikes occur, we can always revert the status, but for now, it should be updated. Dasomm (talk) 21:40, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
- Sounds good Dasomm. Thank you. (:
- I have a feeling conflicts like Nigeria will continue, especially given that Rubio said more strikes would continue and that is what happened following the boat strikes in Venezuela.
- Still while that may be likely, it has been a while, and a feeling does not equal reality.
- Feel free to change it and we can always change it back when and if Nigerian strikes continue. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 04:40, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

Apologies and new List of Wars Idea
Hi Dasomm I wish to apologize ahead of time as I wonder if I may be borderline pestering you at this point, but I had an idea for our criteria section and to add a conflict.
I think we should add the 2012 Benghazi attack, and subsequent special forces raids on the subject 2014 and 2017 raids on the suspects involved.
I think we should do this for a few reasons:
- The conflict involves United States military contractors who worked under the CIA, who fired back and caused casualties to their attackes.
- A Diplomatic Security Service agent named David Ubben also fought in the conflict.
- A JSOC predator drone was being used to capture images of the conflict.
- U.S. Special forces captured 2 of the suspects of the attack in 2014, and 2017. I also recommend we make a new section under Examples of Criteria. It would say something like: "Sole conflicts involving United States armed military contractors under direct U.S. military of intelligence employment or third party private military company contractors." We would list the 2012 Benghazi attack as an example, and then leave a note saying that it must be verified that private military contractors must be verified as being under American military or intelligence employment and engaged in an exchange of fire to be included. Conflicts involving Private Military companies where it is unclear if the United States hired a (PMC) such as the 2003 Transocean offshore oil rig strike and hostage situation. Furthermore, just similar to stipulations in criteria's 4 and 7 if this incident is part of a wider conflict and not a stand alone incident it should not be included. What do you think? (:
Historyguy1138 (talk) 01:40, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- No worries at all! I think your idea is excellent. Using the 2012 Benghazi attack as a benchmark for including intelligence-led or contractor-involved conflicts adds a necessary layer of detail to our criteria. Dasomm (talk) 14:03, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- Excellent I will work on it later today. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 14:46, 7 January 2026 (UTC)

Turkey U.S.A. conflict 2023
Hi Dasomm. Should we add the 2023 Turkish drone shootdown to the list? If so should we add Turkey to the map? Historyguy1138 (talk) 18:00, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Historyguy1138 :), I'd leave it off the list, as it was really just a breakdown in communication during the Syrian Civil War rather than a new conflict. Dasomm (talk) 20:24, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
- Makes sense to me.

List of wars involving the United States in the 21st century
I'm puzzled why you reverted my edit. If you count them, there are only 28 wars, made up of 7 Ongoing, 5 Defeats, 5 Other results, and only 11 victories: 7 + 5 + 5 + 11 = 28. If there's something I'm missing, please explain, but otherwise I'll change it back when I'm next on the site. Enginear (talk) 23:05, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- No problem @Enginear, ok, let's count together:
1. Victory - Operation Freedom Eagle
2. Victory - US intervention in the Iraqi Kurdistan conflict
3. Victory - US intervention in the War in North-West Pakistan
4. Victory - NATO Operation Ocean Shield
5. Victory - International intervention in Libya
6. Victory - Operation Observant Compass
7. Victory - US Capture of the MV Morning Glory
8. Victory - US-led intervention in Iraq
9. Victory - US Intervention against Assad government (Maybe you forgot this one because the US intervention in Syria is divided into two conflicts, as there is still an ongoing mission against jihadists.)
10. Victory - US intervention in Libya
11. Victory - Nigeria hostage rescue
12. Victory - US Embassy Shooting in Haiti Dasomm (talk) 23:28, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, you're right, but let me get very British and say that winning under a false colour is dashed unsporting! ;-) But this has got me thinking of wars past and future, so here are some thoughts -- feel free to delete it if you don't want to read on.
- I'm not following Syria closely, but I suspect the Islamists will definitely return to some power, but more gradually than in Afghanistan, Yemen or Iraq, and I think everyone's going to be looking elsewhere for a few years, so hopefully later this year we can decide that all important aims are achieved, mark it as a victory, and in 2 - 5 years, maybe someone else will go in and sort it out, or maybe it will be the US again, but either way, it will count as a new situation. In general, I'm against that approach (both in real life and in encyclopedias), but there has been a ridiculous amount of mission-creep in the Middle East, partly because the original concept was fatally flawed -- the 2003 war on a false premise led to Islamists going extreme due to one of their most holy countries being trashed, leading to most of the wars worldwide since, which meant NATO was tied up in 2014 so couldn't respond to Russia invading Ukraine, which emboldened them to return for more in 2022, and we all took our eyes off Palestine, etc, etc, and if the US or Israel attack Iran, there'll be another 20 years of terrorism, and the millions of refugees resulting will destabilise Europe, and beyond that, I have a hunch what will happen but there's no point in upsetting those who are as yet blissfully unaware. Let's just say that political and military alignments will change to an extent which many in the US will find unbelievable -- and somewhere in that, some country will fight Islamists in Syria, but it will have been (relatively) so quiet there, that nobody will consider that perhaps that war was not totally successful in 2026.
- Still, I don't think there'll be as many wars as in the 18th & 19th centuries. Many in the US don't realise what World War -1 was fought on 6 continents (Antarctica had not yet been discovered) from 1778, when France & Spain declared war on Great Britain (GB), to 1784 (when the Netherlands made peace with us). The stand-out winners of the negotiations after the war were the US and GB, while the terrible losers were France and the Netherlands -- remember that the purpose of colonies was to earn money through trade. France joined the war in order to get "most-favoured nation" trading terms with the US, but GB offered to gift to the US the land from the Appalachians to the Mississippi in return for getting the MFN status for ourselves -- win-win -- the US had almost doubled its area, and once they had done the work to develop that land, they would be richer, so they didn't mind increasing their taxes above what GB had tried to collect from them, while GB got the additional trade without the need to spend money on development and protection from pirates, which they had previously expected to pay! So all GB lost was Florida and a small European Island -- but we gained revised naval agreements which gave us the chance to vastly expand our colony in India, and (to use modern names) to add Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand -- lands which before the war, were likely to have gone to the Netherlands!
- Without their anticipated MFN status with the US, France was effectively bankrupt, much as Russia is now -- within 6 years, they had had a revolution and all their previous leaders fled or were beheaded. Which will it be for Putin? But then their great general, Napoleon, rose to power, and France was back attacking the rest of Europe. Did you wonder why we didn't do better in the war of 1812? Well, that's because we were fighting thirteen other wars between 1812 and 1815 (we won 12 and drew 2) -- the UK, as we had become when Ireland united with GB, fought over 100 wars in the nineteenth century, but those four years were particularly busy, and the most important wars, from 1812-1814 and then in 1815, could be said together to be World War 0 -- almost every European country, and some outsiders, were on one side or another of those final two wars which ended with Napoleon banished to a remote island, and from then on, with one minor exception when by chance we found ourselves on the opposite sides of a war in the Middle East -- yes, problems there are centuries old -- France and the UK have always fought as Allies, as indeed have the UK and the US, for over 200 years now. - Ok, I will, this conflict is new for me :) Btw, please don't add any countries to the Allies list, even if you feel you're right. In these lists, we always follow the main article. The country must be in the main article first before it can be in ours. Dasomm (talk) 11:57, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks friend.
- Hmmmm I will withhold for now for your sake. The problem is I cannot add sources in the infobox to the main page of the conflict. I never learned how exactly, the coding is weird when I try.
- I will save the info I have collected on the lists page for future info, and then when the conflict has stabilized a little more we can discuss the list better then. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 14:28, 4 March 2026 (UTC)

Should we add the attack and return fire of Marines In Pakistan to the list?
The Belligerents were protestors who were for Iran, but not a direct Proxy of Iran, so I am not sure if this should be classified as an action specifically a part of the 2026 Iran War or if it should be considered a separate, but related military action.
2026 attack on the United States consulate in Karachi Historyguy1138 (talk) 18:43, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi :) I would recommend answering "no" to adding it to the list. While there was an attack on the consulate, the U.S. Marines did not actually return fire or engage in military action. Since there was no direct U.S. Army involvement or combat engagement, it shouldn't be classified as a military action. The incident was part of a larger wave of anti-American unrest across Pakistan following a joint U.S.-Israeli strike that killed Ali Khamene, so its just small part of 2026 Iran war. Dasomm (talk) 20:52, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hmmmm my understanding was that the Marine Security Guards opened fire, killing 10–16 protesters and injuring over 60
