Hi Johnny, have you heard the recently added regional transit connection announcers - such as GO Transit, Ontario Northland, York Regional Transit etc - on the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Toronto Rocket trains on Line 1 Yonge-University and Line 4 Sheppard?

I believe these were added in December 2025 when Line 6 Finch West LRT opened for passenger use.

For instance Line 1 trains approaching Highway 407 station now say "Transfer for GO Transit, York Regional Transit and Ontario Northland".

I don't think subway train announcements ever announced connections with other regional transit systems prior to December 2025, they only announced the next station including transfers to other subway lines, and that was it.

The Toronto Rocket trains originally did not come with regional transit connection anmouncers even when they 1st came into passenger service in 2011 until a retrofit was made in December 2025. Alexscarborough (talk) 03:12, 14 February 2026 (UTC)

Let me summon Joeyconnick, Transportfan70, and Turini2 as well for their thoughts on this proposed addition as they are the primary editors for Toronto transit-related articles, while I mainly do minor edits and the occasional small content additions. @Canterbury Tail: I decided to withdraw from the candidacy as I felt I wasn't ready yet and I admitted to using LLMs to craft my responses. (I mean, I'm perhaps more biased than average against AI in Wikipedia discussions, but the way this ended, with someone pointing it out and you noticing that in the moment it became public, it was such an issue that you had to withdraw before even answering the question about it, you should not only have known better, you apparently did. And in a community where sockpuppetry is perceived as a significant sin even in cases that could have been justifiable somehow, this feels worse than noticing that a candidate had an undisclosed second account that edit warred together with the main account a year ago. This isn't, in my personal mind, something you can just throw away as a failed attempt for re-trying in the same year. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

• May 6–7: Housekeeping phase (we are here)
• May 8–12: Discussion phase
• May 13–19: SecurePoll voting phase
• Scrutineering phase

All times are in UTC. The first date in the range starts at 00:00, and the last date in the range ends at 23:59. So for example, the Discussion phase opens on 8 May 2026 at 00:00 UTC, and ends on 12 May 2026 at 23:59 UTC.

We are currently in the Housekeeping phase. Your candidate subpage will remain closed to questions and discussion. However, this is an excellent opportunity for you to recruit nominators (if you want them) and have them place their nomination statements, and a good time for you to answer the standard three questions, if you have not done so already. We recommend you spend this phase getting your candidate page polished and ready for the next phase.

The discussion phase will take place from May 8–12. Your candidate subpage will open to the public and they will be permitted to discuss you and ask you formal questions, in the same style as a request for adminship (RfA). You are strongly encouraged to be around on those dates to answer the formal questions in a timely manner.

On 13 May, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. Anyone can see who has voted, but not who they voted for. You are permitted and encouraged to vote in the election, including voting for yourself. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see your vote total during the election.

Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (you may want to watchlist this page) and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, you must receive at least 70% support, calculated as support ÷ (support + oppose), and must also have received a minimum of 20 support votes. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("'crat chats").
