Hello, Larssahl. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Gary J. Pielak, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Jay8g [V•T•E] 03:54, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
WP:RMTR
Hello, I had to revert your request at WP:RMTR for your draft to be moved to mainspace as you had pasted your request over every existing request by mistake. A quick look at the draft suggests to me it may not be ready for mainspace as the vast majority of your sources are WP:PRIMARY; that is, published by the American Peptide Society itself. Whilst these sources can be used for information about the organisation they do not count towards notability of the group. I recommend you submit your draft through the Articles for Creation process to allow for feedback before moving it to the mainspace. CoconutOctopus talk 15:34, 21 November 2025 (UTC)

American Peptide Society moved to draftspace
Thanks for your contributions to American Peptide Society. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it is promotional and reads like an advertisement and you may have a possible Conflict of Interest. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Wikishovel (talk) 10:01, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, Wikishovel! My apologies for cluttering. This early effort is indeed not ready for prime time, and I appreciate your kind help in relegating it to a safer space where I can continue my work. :-)
- Aloha.

- Dear Wikishovel,
- I have 24 APS Symposium Proceedings, published by external publishers, each with ISBN numbers. My intention is to use these as the main source of my article to cite historic, procedural, scientific, and personality information. I assume that you approve of this plan.
- For the more recent Symposia, Volumes 25–29, the proceedings were published directly by the American Peptide Society on its official website rather than through an external publisher. Before I draw upon these internally published materials to provide factual details such as symposium dates, venues, program structures, and award information, I would appreciate clarification on whether APS-hosted proceedings PDFs qualify as acceptable primary sources for these limited, non-interpretive historical details. My goal is to ensure that all cited information adheres fully to Wikipedia’s content and sourcing policies.
- Aloha,
- Lars Larssahl (talk) 19:18, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
- It would be better for now to focus on fixing the mildly promotional tone, and on adding reliable secondary sources to demonstrate the organisation's notability as outlined in Wikipedia's notability guidelines for organisations. I'd urge you to resist the temptation to use the article as a showcase for the organisation. Wikishovel (talk) 20:03, 22 November 2025 (UTC)

AfC notification: Draft:American Peptide Society has a new comment

January 2026

Hello Larssahl. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:American Peptide Society, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Larssahl. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Larssahl|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:11, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Justlettersandnumbers, thank you for the clarification. I am happy to comply.
- To be clear: I am not being paid to create this Wikipedia article — it is a personal volunteer effort. However, I do receive a nominal fee from the American Peptide Society for web development and event photography work, so I understand why disclosure is appropriate.
- I have added the required disclosure to my user page using the
{{Paid}}template. I had previously added{{connected contributor|User:Larssahl}}to the draft itself, but I see now that the user page disclosure is also required. - Please let me know if anything further is needed. –~~~~ Larssahl (talk) 14:09, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
AfC notification: Draft:American Peptide Society has a new comment

- Thank you all for the feedback. I understand now that the core issue is a lack of independent secondary coverage of the organization itself — not just sources that verify facts, but journalists or scholars writing about APS.
- I will withdraw the draft for now and focus on generating that kind of coverage. The 30th American Peptide Symposium in 2027 may provide an opportunity for feature articles in publications like C&EN or The Scientist. I'll return when I have stronger sourcing.
- I appreciate the guidance — this has been educational. –~~~~ Larssahl (talk) 14:22, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for dealing with that, Larssahl! I believe that what you have now done is sufficient, but if you want to be absolutely sure you can ask at the conflict-of-interest noticeboard. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:19, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
