Codices Vossiani Latini

Hi there. Saw your comment on the Phabricator ticket about Brill online. If you're subscribed to that ticket, you will have seen my reply, but if you're not, I'll mention here that although the Codices Vossiani Latini Online project is not currently available for WP Library readers, the full text of the printed catalogue is available; the catalogue of folio mss. is here, and the one you're interested in, Voss. Lat. F4, is described on pp. 6–9. Of course, that won't satisfy you if you want to see the scan of the manuscript itself, but if you're simply looking for codicological and bibliographical information, it might be sufficient. Cheers, Choliamb (talk) 14:08, 7 November 2024 (UTC)

Hi Choliamb, thanks for your very helpful reply. This is really useful. I've added the refence to the Historia Naturalis page. Do you have any experince using the Codices Vossiani Latini Online? It seems strange that there are no public domain scans available; such as is the case for most other European medieval manuscripts. Cheers Mellangoose (talk) 12:50, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
Hi Melangoose. I don't know if you're still interested in this, but it appears that the scans of the Codices Vossiani Latini are now freely available under a CC-BY license. See here. Cheers, Choliamb (talk) 13:20, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
Thank you SO MUCH Choliamb!! It's true, they are now released under open access! Weirdly if you www.primarysources.brillonline.com (for example) it will still say restricted access, however when visited at digitalcollections.universiteitleiden.nl (for example) it's open access.
Thanks again, this has made my day! Mellangoose (talk) 12:05, 31 May 2025 (UTC)

Hi Mellangoose, I moved your section on the Vossius Library in the Leiden University Library page to the Western Manuscripts section. The Vossius manuscripts belong to that part of the special collections. LibrLeiden  Preceding undated comment added 07:45, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

Dewi Evans

Hi I am going to suggest the Dewi Evans page is deleted and redirected to Lucy Letby. There is a lot of material that has appeared on it that is not appropriate and clearly is a result of dissatisfaction with his role in the Letby prosecution. He is not really notable outside that case, and as a living person is entitled to a neutral biography. (for the little it is worth I agree with many of the criticisms levelled against him, but they do not justify Wikipedia being used to character assassinate him). ElectricRay (talk) 09:37, 12 February 2025 (UTC)

== Proposed deletion of Dewi Evans ==
Notice

The article Dewi Evans has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Outside his involvement in the Lucy Letby trial this subject does not meet notability criteria, and as a living subject should be reported neutrally. This article was created six days ago and includes lengthy accounts of sketchily reported incidents from this person’s career in what appears to be a targeted attempt to undermine his credibility. Propose redirect to Lucy Letby

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. What is an academic?

Hello, Mellangoose

I thought you might be interested in this question, as the creator of the interesting and useful article on Dr Dewi Evans.

I take no position on what should or should not be in the article on Dewi Evans. But as an academic, I am rather interested in Wikipedia's criteria for calling someone an academic.

During medical school, Evans was co-author of two very brief medical papers. Apart from that he has no scientific publications.

During the Letby trial he was asked by the judge, I believe, if he was a scientist. He said that he wasn't.

In my opinion, membership of august professional bodies such as the Royal College of Paediatricians does not indicate academic status. Some doctors are academics according to common criteria, most aren't. The dictionary says: "a teacher or scholar in a university or other institute of higher education". Scholars write and publish.

Yours, Richard Gill. Richard Gill (talk) 14:29, 14 February 2025 (UTC)

Weissmies Hut moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Weissmies Hut, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Cartularium Saxonicum, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Frontispiece. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ  Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hi Mellangoose. Thank you for your work on List of Anglo-Saxon charters. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for creating this (very long) tabulated list; a helpful resource. Given the similarly of the list to eSawyer, I had wonder about copyright, but perhaps the tabulation and interdigitation of other sources and indexes is sufficient to warrant 'new art'. You have helpfully declared your sources. Just a reminder to use sentence case for both article and heading titles.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Klbrain}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Altorientalische Forschungen moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Altorientalische Forschungen. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and require WP:RS, WP:IS. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. QEnigma 02:17, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
