Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Thank you for your contributions on notable buildings in Greater Manchester, particularly filling some of the gaps on churches - looking forward to seeing more in 2026! Warofdreams talk 22:11, 2 January 2026 (UTC)

Happy New Year, Warofdreams, and thank you for your kind message. I've been on a bit of a personal mission to create an article for every Grade II* listed entry and there's only a couple of boroughs to go now! Then it'll just be a case of what to focus on next :) Mmberney (talk) 12:22, 3 January 2026 (UTC)

Your addition to Church of St Michael and All Angels, Wigan has been removed or altered, as it appears to closely paraphrase a copyrighted source. Limited close paraphrasing or quotation is appropriate within reason, so long as the material is clearly attributed in the text. However, longer paraphrases, especially if they are not attributed to their source, may constitute copyright violation and/or plagiarism, and are not acceptable on Wikipedia. Such content cannot be hosted here for legal reasons; please do not post it on any page, even if you plan to fix it later. You may use external websites or printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If you own the copyright to the text, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the copyright but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.

Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. Dclemens1971 (talk) 19:46, 7 January 2026 (UTC)

Hi Dclemens1971, I've now reworked the Architecture section in a much plainer style. Some of the technical language is hard to avoid, but I've done my best to keep it clear and accessible. Hopefully it reads better now. Thanks. Mmberney (talk) 20:36, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
It looks much better, thanks! Dclemens1971 (talk) 20:37, 7 January 2026 (UTC)

Listed buildings in York (within the city walls, northern part)

Hi Mmberney! Just wanted to reach out as I was noticing in your recent edit that you added the image Thomas's Hotel, Museum Street, York, but it looks like you forgot to include the extension and/or upload it to Wikipedia. The file is just showing as a broken link in the article currently. I did a little searching and was unable to find the file you were trying to insert. When you get a chance, could you have a look and correct the link? Thanks so much! Cheers, Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor ♥ 15:27, 19 January 2026 (UTC)

Hi Katniss, thanks for the message — and good spot, I'd missed that error. It looks like the Commons link was mistakenly copied into the image row, but it's been corrected now. Mmberney (talk) 15:35, 19 January 2026 (UTC)

Promotion of Grade II* listed buildings in Greater Manchester

Congratulations, Mmberney! The list you nominated, Grade II* listed buildings in Greater Manchester, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best lists on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main Page as Today's featured list. Keep up the great work! Cheers, PresN (talk) via FACBot (talk) 23:25, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Congratulations on this fine achievement. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 16:01, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
Thank you very much, Peter I. Vardy. I certainly can't take all the credit; the majority of the article was already there. I just got the bit between my teeth about a year ago and set out to give all of the entries their own articles. It was a bit of a slog, but I enjoyed the learning and editing experience along the way. Keep up your own sterling work. Best. Mmberney (talk) 16:14, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Excellent piece of work, which I've been observing quietly from the sidelines. Congratulations. Dave.Dunford (talk) 16:47, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
I really appreciate that, Dave.Dunford - thanks for saying so. Mmberney (talk) 21:15, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
