ReFill
This tool is one of the most error-prone in the history of Wikipedia, and there is nobody maintaining it. The responsibility of any errors it creates is the fault of person using the tool. You are responsible for every edit, even when you choose to use buggy tools. Please see this edit Special:Diff/1254741850/1256841759:
- You broke a URL, changing this to that (the original problem was an errant space in the middle of the URL and was easily fixed by simply deleting the space).
- You added a spam title "Izyan.com is for sale | HugeDomains"
The fact is, ReFill can be useful. But it can also cause a lot of damage. It's sort of like operating a high-end motorcycle, it requires training and experience not to wreck. -- GreenC 17:03, 23 November 2024 (UTC)

Refill
Great work you're doing on bareurls but can I remind you of the need to check what the tool does. In this edit you didn't correct it when it diverted lesfreres.org to domyessay.com (usurpers) and americanutopiabroadway.com to an Indonesian gambling site (see WP:JUDI) Lyndaship (talk) 18:25, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing me on these redirects. They slipped my mind. I've added a url-status=usurped to both citations.
- In my defense, you would have ended up on those sites without my edits. :-) Rofraja (talk) 18:51, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- Afraid I've come across another one this morning . I would have hoped you would have spotted this as it was the only amendment and the gambling guff makes it obvious it's been redirected. The end result of allowing this sort of error through is that when waybackmedic comes through it will see the domain which has been substituted and provide an archive for this - see next edit, losing the cite for ever Lyndaship (talk) 08:51, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

Bare URL fixes
Hello, and thanks for your hard work on fixing bare URLs. I see that you're performing a very large amount of these edits, but there are a small amount that I have concerns with and would like to discuss. In particular, I came across this edit on my watchlist, where you added "Thai document" as the link title. This is unhelpful, as it adds no identifiable information to preserve the full citation, and prevents someone who might know the language from finding the issue and actually fixing it. Also, in some of your other edits, I see that you tend to add "Unknown" as the title when the link is dead. This also does more harm than good. When visible to the reader, the bare URLs themselves can often provide at least some form of source identification. One can deduce from the domain what kind of source was being referred to, and if the URL is human-readable, recovering the actual document title is possible. By masking the URL with "Unknown", this information is hidden from the reader, and might make it more likely for the citation to be removed and lost entirely by someone who's led to think that there's no underlying information in there.
I understand that this is a sort of "quick fix" when going through a huge list of tagged articles, but removing maintenance tags should never be a goal in and of itself, rather than properly fixing the underlying issue. Might it be a better idea to skip adding "Unknown" title masks to dead URLs and "Foreign-language document" to non-Latin ones, so that they can be properly investigated later, or at least to log them somewhere? --Paul_012 (talk) 08:18, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

CS1 error on Net-zero emissions
Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Net-zero emissions, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 17:25, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
Inexplicable
This is the third time you've made an obviously wrong edit (there are two bare-URL references in the article). Please revise whatever process you're following to not repeatedly mechanically make the same wrong edits. Thanks in advance. --JBL (talk) 21:35, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- Separately, I notice that many of the edits you've done in the last few minutes (while ignoring this comment, as you seem to have ignored a very similar comment several months ago) include adding citation templates with false titles in them (as here). What misunderstanding has led you to believe that adding false and nonsensical cruft to a citation is in any way an improvement? --JBL (talk) 21:52, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- These are all manual edits. Permanent dead links can never get a title. I used to put 'Unknown' or 'No title' as the title but I was told not to do that, and leave the URL visible, but remove the 'Bare URL' templates. Rofraja (talk) 21:53, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- No: permanently dead links are things that definitely once had a title, and that a person who was sufficiently interested and capable could potentially figure out by a sleuthing various information like who the publisher was and what is contained in the URL and what information it was used as a citation for and what was part of the edit summary when it was added. What you mean is that you cannot figure it out by whatever low-quality, low-effort processes you use. That does not justify adding wrong information (like "no title"), and it does not justify removing a correct maintenance template. You should not make edits that have no rational justification; you should not make edits that add false citation information; and you should not make edits with false edit summaries. --JBL (talk) 22:20, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- If a reference is permanent dead, it does no longer exist. It should be replaced by another reference. The way to fix it is finding an alternative reference. No one should waste time trying to find a title for a useless bare URL, so marking the page or reference as bare URL is not relevant. Rofraja (talk) 07:07, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- Rofraja: "Permanent dead" does not literally mean that. It is a flag added by InternetArchiveBot to signify that IABot can't find an archive at the WaybackMachine so it won't keep checking wasting CPU cycles. But there are frequently archives available elsewhere, such as archive.today, that IABot is unable to see. And sometimes IABot gets it wrong, there actually is an archive at the WaybackMachine, but IABot was unable to find it through automated means, manual checking can find it. And sometimes links that are unavailable at the WaybackMachine at one time, become available later, due to internal process changes. My bot WaybackMedic occasionally checks these flagged links and is able to add archives for about 20% of them. -- GreenC 19:51, 1 September 2025 (UTC)

Global Rainwater Management Program (GRMP)
@Rofraja, I was searching for some Water Conservation solutions at a city scale, where I came across, one of your edits namely Global Rainwater Management Program (GRMP) on a article called "Rainwater Management". It shows a comprehensive program for rain and snow water management and conservation. The subject also looks solid as it has been mentioned on several Global Platforms like United Nations, Global Water Partnership etc. But what interest us the most was RETURN ON INVESTMENT (ROI) part. This part makes it more interesting as all actions for sustainability (SDGs) are generally considered as donations/Grants/CSRs where this framework says, One can make profits from sustainability works under Global Rainwater Management Program (GRMP).
Can you please help us to know more.

Bare URLs
Placing [ ] around a url does not negate the bare url designation. At a bare minimum, a corrected link should have some way of easily identifying the specific work referenced when the link goes dead, so a title of the work, and a date/author/publisher would do it. Please see Wikipedia:Bare URLs, and please use the cite web/cite news/cite book/cite journal templates when possible.
Also, please don't put wikilinks in the external link's display text, that is a tracked syntax error due to the very confusing/deceptive way they display where there's no clear designation between the two links and which page you'll navigate to depending on where you have your mouse along the hyperlinked text (MW:Help:Lint errors/wikilink-in-extlink).

Citation url removed and bad title added
Hello, this edit is certainly not correct. What tool are you using for this, because this edit should not have gone through. — HELLKNOWZ ∣ TALK 19:14, 20 January 2026 (UTC)

- Yes, but what tool are you using for this? Where does one report bugs or see how it works? Like, where did it get "Latvian City Maps" title, which is completely wrong. — HELLKNOWZ ∣ TALK 19:34, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
- It's a python script I wrote to automate the manual bare url updates I make. It's not perfect, but all updates are logged. After processing a batch I go over the log to fix invalid update like the "Not found" title, you detected. E.g. here are a couple similar updates I will fix later: Institute for Earth System Preservation , Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering , Intelligent Resilient Framework , List of films with plots centered on video games. Rofraja (talk) 20:13, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
- Oh, and the title "Latvian City Maps" is made up by me. I opened the PDF and noticed there is no title at all. So I tried to define a sensible summary for the contents. Rofraja (talk) 20:27, 20 January 2026 (UTC)

DTS numbers in Tengwar
I can see how the formatting situation was unsatisfying before, but your edit 1334322542 to Tengwar § External history conflated 8 different links to specific "DTS" entries (which weren't strictly bare URLs, cf WP:BURL § Simple title) into one reference auto1, which itself duplicates the reference already present in templated form in the paragraph preceding the list of specimina. You removed both the URL fragments pointing to the specific entries and link titles, leaving no trace of the DTS numbers they referred to. – MwGamera (talk) 19:01, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
