Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited White Cloud Township, Nodaway County, Missouri, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pumpkin Center, Missouri. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ  Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Move warring

On December 19, you moved the article Holland Branch to Holland Branch (Platte River tributary). On January 4, this move was reverted by Bunnypranav. Per WP:RMUM, undiscussed moves may be reverted if controversial, and should not be repeated without consensus (as you just did). Instead, if you think your initial move was correct, please start a requested move discussion. jlwoodwa (talk) 20:38, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

This also applies to your move of McGuire Branch to McGuire Branch (Castille Creek tributary), which was reverted by Rusalkii and which you repeated today. jlwoodwa (talk) 20:42, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
Okay, I will begin requested move discsussions instead of repeating moves that have been reverted. Though, I still don't really understand why 90% of the tributary clarification moves I make are reviewed and approved and 10% aren't. I understand that is because different people who review them have different subjective opinions on what is best but as a new editor I do find it confusing. Thanks for informing me about proper protocol. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 21:22, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
The general policy to minimize parenthetical disambiguation as much as possible - so Holland Branch is always preferred over Holland Branch (Platte River tributary), unless there is another Holland Branch elsewhere that could be confused with this one. Unfortunately editors doing redirect patrolling often do very superficial checks (I know I've been guilty of this) and basically just look at it and go "hmm, looks like a vaguely sane redirect, marking as reviewed". I would be surprised if most of the editors approving the other moves though this was best, as opposed to not obviously a disaster and not worth looking into further. Rusalkii (talk) 22:06, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarifying. So unless there are (or going to be) 2 or more articles with the same name I do not need to add a parenthetical disambiguation. That makes sense - I will do such. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 01:05, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

Looking for more information on Dockery, Missouri, Ray County

Hello! I am trying to help a friend figure out something about the Dockery area of Ray County MO, more specifically, what the parameters are for this area and if her property falls inside of them. We have looked at maps, coordinates, etc. but don't really understand. I see that Dockery is not listed as a township or a village, but as "other", so I'm thinking perhaps it was an old settlement that got "swallowed up" more or less by larger townships and villages. Anyways, if you have any more information or light you could shed on this it would be much appreciated!

Thank you!! Confusedinmissouri (talk) 19:38, 5 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello, thank you for the question; I hope I can be helpful. I can confirm that Dockery does not have a legal jurisdiction presently. It is not listed as a city, village, or census-designated place, and thus does not have a present recognized boundary. As for its historic boundary, I do not think there is any information about that. It is not in the Sanborn Map Collection nor is it in this 1930 plat book that I found online. The Ray County GIS (ray.integritygis.com) has nothing particularly helpful though there are a few subdivisions in the area that if you could find their original plat maps may have some information about Dockery's previous boundary. Honestly, I do not even know if it was previously incorporated, just because it had a post office does not mean it was incorporated and thus had a boundary. Perhaps there are older plat books not digitized online that are in some library in Ray County, but I believe I have looked as thoroughly as I am reasonably able to. Dockery may have merely been the name of a place that never became formalized.
I hope this helps, for what it is worth my core research has been into NW missouri and I only happened to edit this article because I was 'adopting' articles about streams into articles about places. Thanks, let me know what you find out. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 20:06, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your quick response! That is super helpful- and completely makes sense that it's not a legal jurisdiction- so many places around here are like that. Saint Cloud, Stet, etc. I believe my friend is also going to go to the Ray County History Museum and see if she can find out anything else, and if she does I'll be sure to update you!
Thanks again =) Confusedinmissouri (talk) 16:44, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

Ways to improve Dallas, Missouri

Hello, SamuelNelsonGISP,

Thank you for creating Dallas, Missouri.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

May not meet the Notability requirements of WP:NPLACE ... ideally, some more sources would be discovered & more detail added to the article. Not every abandoned town deserves an article.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Noleander}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Noleander (talk) 16:15, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

@Noleander: Hello, I am intrigued that this of all articles would potentially meet this criteria since I have three histories that discuss this topic. I'll take your challenge to expand upon the article, but I'd like more clarification of what specifically causes you to mark this as potentially unnotable? SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 16:33, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
I'm not saying it is NOT notable, and I am not an expert in the WP:NPLACE policy. I added the note in the article as part of the WP:New Page Patrol volunteer work I'm doing this month. Looking at WP:NPLACE it looks like most obscure places are handed on a case-by-case basis. I suggest posting a query at Wikipedia talk:Notability (geographic features) ... the editors there can probably give great guidance. Noleander (talk) 16:43, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Ways to improve Maryville R-II School District

Hello, SamuelNelsonGISP,

Thank you for creating Maryville R-II School District.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

WP notability policies require multiple, independent, third-party sources to discuss the topic of the article in SIGNIFICANT depth (example: three sources, 3 paragraphs about the school district). The sources in this article appear to be closely related to the dept, or mere listings in a list/index.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Noleander}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

I re-added the motto with a newspaper citation, though I'm quite a bit more concerned about you removing the image of the post office, and water tower. What makes an image mal-formed? SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 13:21, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
Look in the history of the article, and you'll see you messed up adding the image. Magnolia677 (talk) 15:11, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
you removed the image because I put 200 instead of 200px? I feel it would be easier to have corrected that, especially since the mistake was not even visible to the page, but took closer inspection to notice it. I fixed it and the image is back. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 15:42, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
No, I reverted it because all I saw from your edit was this, which is malformed. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:55, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
I must be missing something, what is malformed about that? SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 19:22, 13 May 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Linn Branch

Hello, SamuelNelsonGISP,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username SnowyRiver28 and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Linn Branch, for deletion, because a consensus decision previously decided that it wasn't suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If you wish to restore a page deleted via a deletion discussion, please use the deletion review process instead, rather than reposting the content of the page.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|SnowyRiver28}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

SnowyRiver28 (talk) 06:30, 20 October 2025 (UTC)

@SnowyRiver28:
I've never attempted to recreate a deleted page before so I do not know the procedure. Do I start with Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion or Wikipedia:Deletion review?
What I do know is this article certainly does have a reason to exist. For no other reason that it is the receiving stream of a pre-existing article currently up in wikipedia, Roberts Branch (Linn Branch tributary). It would be like having an article for a species but not for a genus, doesn't make much sense.
Furthermore, I've already created a few new articles for the Platte River watershed, and plan to do more. I am mostly updating and overhauling existing articles but creating new ones, such as Little Third Fork Platte River and Wilkerson Creek are going well, so far. This article seems to be penalized arbitrarily for it not being good 4 years ago, all I know is that it can be good now.
Here are some small streams I have previously fleshed out in the Nodaway River watershed that would be illustrative of my goal with this and the other articles: Jenkins Creek (Nodaway River tributary), Highly Creek.
As an aside, I tried in vain to find the previous article to restore it, there seemed to be a source I cannot find (or access) today. The Ramsey Place name files for Clinton County, which the previous article of this name referenced.
Anyway, I understand why this might be happening and I intend to do what is needed to make the case for this article to not be deleted. Frankly, this stream is quite a bit more notable than others in this watershed. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 13:11, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
Hey there, thanks for your reply and contribs!
Looks like I made an error when I tagged the article for speedy deletion, as the previously deleted article was about a stream in a different county by the same name (according to the reviewing admin's edit summary). Regardless, your article is not being deleted, and it's back in the new page patrol queue for review.
For the sake of fairness, I'll leave it for someone else to review, but I'd suggest making sure it satisfies either the general notability guide, or the subject-specific natural feature notability guide. For the latter, natural features such as rivers and streams are typically notable provided information beyond statistics and coordinates is known to exist. If you have sources that satisfy this, you should be golden, but make sure you add them as references.
Thanks for all your hard work improving the encyclopedia! Let me know if you have any further questions. SnowyRiver28 (talk) 14:03, 20 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from MotLen29 (01:47, 12 February 2026)

Hi Sam! Can you help me in contributing to Wikipedia? I am planning to put someone here, a great transport leader here in the Philippines. I and a great others here in the transport sector, believes that his amazing story should be shared here so everyone could read and know his wonderful life and works. Thanks! --MotLen29 (talk) 01:47, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Sure. It seems your draft has been written on your user page. I guess you should read up on this: Wikipedia:Blp due to the subject of your article. Also I suggest formatting your article to match how other biographical articles are, with a Personal Life section, and infobox, pictures, wiki-links to other articles where helpful, and don't use an h3 or h4 heading without having an h2 above it such as with "Public Advocacy and Policy Work" in your draft. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 14:36, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for your guidance! It is only a draft for now and it is also not letting me add pictures. I will finish the biograph article today with the appropriate formatting. I am also planning to contribute another one about a public leader but the "contribute" tab is still grayed out, do I need to do something first to contribute? And can you also help me with adding of pictures? I've watch several tutorials already but most are really not applicable as my account is restricted. Thanks again for your time. Really appreciate it. MotLen29 (talk) 00:08, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
I recommend to look through this: WP:FIRST for further information. I believe you should also make at least 10 edits on other articles before you get permissions to create articles or upload media. Also I just discovered this: Help:Cheatsheet, it will be helpful for me, even. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 05:16, 13 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Tactive Software Systems Pvt Ltd (05:12, 12 February 2026)

I want to create My company profile in wikipedia.. Pls Guide How to start --Tactive Software Systems Pvt Ltd (talk) 05:12, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Well, first check if this company meets: WP:ORG. Which is the general notability guideline for what is permitted on wikipedia. Are there reliable, independent, secondary sources about this company, as in, the company website cannot be the main source for the company in question. If it meets that standard, you can make an article called Draft:Your Company Name and I'd begin by copying the wiki-markup for another similar article to copy the format than fill it in with all new information. Your new article will be rejected if it does not meet wikipedia's standards. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 14:41, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Esxcalate (16:44, 17 February 2026)

Kuami Eugene --Esxcalate (talk) 16:44, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

Hello, do you have a question or a comment @Esxcalate about Kuami Eugene. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 16:46, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Tunnor (01:24, 20 February 2026)

Do you include articles in links to other Wikipedia pages? Example: Just "The Challenger Disaster" or "The Challenger Disaster"? --Tunnor (talk) 01:24, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

In this case I would write "the Challenger Disaster". If 'the' is part of the proper name of an article, like The New York Times, then you could add it or, in context, New York Times might read better. For this specific case I would go without. Also, importantly, in your example those two links go to different articles, one the historic event and the other a movie based off that event, so be mindful in this case. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 01:42, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
Thank you much, have a good one! Tunnor (talk) 01:44, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

how do i create an article --BigDawgBIsCooking (talk) 02:17, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from ClarkeThings11 (11:11, 27 February 2026)

Hi I had a question regarding the "points" indicated after editing a Wikipedia page. Are these red/green points indicators of how successful the edit was, or just how much information was added/removed? Best Regards ClarkeThings11 --ClarkeThings11 (talk) 11:11, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

The red or green number refers to the number of bytes that was added or removed. Adding a paragraph might be a few hundreds 'points', removing a sentence might be minus fifty. It does not measure the quality of the change just the nature of it, an addition or removal. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 14:05, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Wikicreative3 (12:14, 7 March 2026)

hey I see an edit that needs to be made and i was gonna work on the stuff for it but my accounts new so i juct corrected a small error and wanted to know if i should just post about the error somewhere or whats a go approach. I posted > "Marie Curie /Radiation/ Discovery/ in /Discovery Marie Curie is described as Henri Becquerel's "doctoral student" despite this not being the case and a fact Gabriel Lippmann was her advisor. At the very least removal of doctoral student is necessary due to the conflation of mentorship with influence. Later corrections would do well to make Curie individual from Becquerel (with consideration for influence) and includion of Pierre Curie." < on a talk page from my temprary account before making one idk if its still accessible but just thought id ask since I was "assigned a mentor" so thought could hurt to ask. --Wikicreative3 (talk) 12:14, 7 March 2026 (UTC)

Well, it seems this article is semi-protected. If your account is 4 days old and has at least 10 edits then you should be able to edit the article. Make sure you cite sources for your claims but you can remove claims if something is inaccurate or unsourced, just make sure to consult the source referenced for the claim you are disputing in case you are wrong and the current claim is right. Question from WendyC57 (12:56, 13 March 2026)

Hello - how can I report a disruptive user on here? --WendyC57 (talk) 12:56, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

I'm not sure if there is a report function? You can always revert vandalism and mention it in article talk pages or WikiProject talk pages. You can also mute and block users if they are not intrinsically damaging to Wikipedia but just difficult to interact with. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 14:22, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Arnav44762 (15:21, 15 March 2026)

How do I find and make citations? --Arnav44762 (talk) 15:21, 15 March 2026 (UTC)

template:Cite web is the most comment form of citation, typically you would fill out this template and place it within
<ref>{{Cite web|url=example.com|title=Example|publsiher=Example Inc.|access-date=January 1, 2026</ref>
tags like such. Place your reference directly after the text you want to cite and it should appear at the bottom of the article. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 14:25, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from GreenHome Institute (16:55, 19 March 2026)

I have created a homepage for my organization, GreenHome Institute, and would like to create a listing on WikiPedia for the organization. May you guide me through the process? --GreenHome Institute (talk) 16:55, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

I would read through this: Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies), it is very common for people to create articles for something they know or work at irl, and it get removed from Wikipedia because it does not meet article guidelines. If it does meet the notability criteria you can begin here: Help:Your first article. Question from ShiningSpark43 on Wikipedia:Verifiability (07:27, 4 April 2026)

Hi, how to create a citation? --ShiningSpark43 (talk) 07:27, 4 April 2026 (UTC)

Good question, see here. Or, the simplest proper way to do it is to use ref tags with a Citation template like this one for web sources:
<ref>{{cite web|url=url123.org|title=YourTitle|publisher=YourPublisher|website=YourWebsite|access-date=April 4, 2026}}</ref>
Just put the values into the parameters of the citation template and you will be good. There are more values than what I demonstrated. Until you get the hang of it, you can just copy and paste a citation from somewhere else and update it. There are also templates to cite books, journals, etc. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 15:22, 4 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from Arenghtqru888 (18:22, 15 April 2026)

How do stubs happen --Arenghtqru888 (talk) 18:22, 15 April 2026 (UTC)

A stub is an article that is deemed too short and incomplete to provide in-depth encyclopedic coverage of a subject. It can be flagged by other users in the talk page of an article or by adding stub templates to the article. Generally, an article is considered a stub when it is under 1,500 bytes in readable page size (or around 300 words). Your draft Siberian Wikipedia has the size of 909 bytes (87 words). To see this yourself, click Tools on the top-right of an article, then page size; the size you should be concerned with is the "Prose Size". This is one of the multiple reasons your draft was rejected. Generally speaking, stubs are often rejected or the creator is admonished to expand the article. Let me know if you have other questions.
