  The revert by JanManisijun seems to have been mistaken, but I do want to note that "clean up" is not a very good edit summary. In the future, it would be better if your summaries are more specific about what changes you're making and, more importantly, why you're making those changes. Thanks! I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) Sorry. I thought I explained it in my edit summary. I trimmed less notable individuals from the list. Some have as few as 2 views a day. Like this one you restored -- Rayne Storm. If he is wikipedia notable, he is not as notable as those with thousands of views a day. And this is not a category, it does not include all people in a category, editors like me and you add names to the list, and there is no reason to add people who are less notable. Notable has a specialized meaning in Wikipedia speak. It is the threshold for whether an article should exist in Wkipedia about a given subject. Beyond that, we do not speak of degrees of notability. In the guideline at Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists#Common selection criteria, criteria #1 says, "Every entry [in a list] meets the notability criteria for its own article in the English Wikipedia." The common community criteria for inclusion in a list of "Notables" is that a Wikipedia article exists for the person and that there is some non-trivial connection between the person and the city/school/etc. With the exception of some large articles in which most members of the "Notable" list have been moved to a stand-alone article due to space limitations (which is why List of people from Harlem exists), I am not aware of any such list that excludes entries in a list because they are less notable than other entries. Thanks for pointing me to that. I understand that you added back Rayne Storm with others for example, because you think that there is no good reason to delete him from the list. Even though he gets two views a day. And others on the list, at the highest levels, get thousands of hits a day, like Tupac Shakur.

It also says, To keep the system of lists useful, we must limit the size a... of lists.

And it says .. In other cases, editors choose even more stringent requirements and For instance, articles about schools often include (or link to) a list of notable alumni/alumnae, but such lists are not intended to contain everyone who verifiably attended the school. (Wikipedia editors who would like to be identified as an alumnus/alumna should instead use the categories intended for this purpose, e.g. Category:Wikipedians by alma mater.)

Hi. Responding to ping. In general, for a list of people from a place or alumni of a school, we want them to be notable. Having a stand-alone article about the person is the most common way to determine that notability. In some cases, someone might cite enough independent reliable sources to show that a stand-alone article would be justified, even if it hasn't been created yet, but usually it's just has article=include. We don't get into who's more or less notable. In the article about Harlem the neighborhood itself, only the most notable people will wind up being included in the prose. — Rhododendrites ^talk \\ 19:11, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
