I've been thinking about this since I've joined Wikipedia in August 2025; do any editors actually currently contribute to Poland rail-related articles? I know I have, and I've seen a couple of other editors contribute to the topic, but never anything much, (I'm talking about now) so I'm curious if there are more that I haven't noticed. I know editors have before, but they are usually inactive now. And when I first joined Wikipedia, I noticed that the coverage of Poland rail-related articles is quite poor. Of course, it's great in some areas, and there are some good and descriptive articles out there. But obviously, I started heavily contributing to the topic (hopefully you have noticed). There's a lot to do, and I can't do this on my own. My focus this whole time has been covering rail transport (railways and stations) in the Lower Silesian Voviodeship. I think I've covered the western part of the voivodeship quite well. Anyways, I won't go on about my edits forever.

Now, this is a long stretch, but if enough users are interested, (I mean that users who currently/want to contribute and improve Poland rail-related articles) perhaps start a task force? I have no experience with these kind of things, so I don't know what the appropriate member size should be. I'm currently trying to figure out whether or not it's worth starting one. I did have a read of the guide though. It would be helpful if long-term members of this project could give me some advice on how previous task forces of this project have went. I think this task force would be great, we could come together to improve existing articles (which I believe is very much needed) and create new ones, it would probably look something like the German one.

Now obviously, I ain't forcing anyone to contribute to Poland rail-related articles. I just want to know who's actually interested in the topic, and if enough are, could we start a task force? Thank you. Fortek67 (talk) 23:24, 13 June 2026 (UTC)

Not everyone interested in this topic monitors this page. You may find more folks, in fact, at WikiProject Railways (or whatever it's called). My interest in this doesn't extend beyond armored trains of Poland. A US-centric focus seems to be commonplace on many projects. I'm partially hindered in my ability to contribute to Polish topics by my reliance upon English language source materials, but I do try from time to time. AI translation tools are better than they used to be, but cannot be trusted for most complex technical works in my opinion. Kyteto (talk) 13:19, 18 July 2026 (UTC)

I understand. Google Translate is pretty good but just needs correction for the English sentences to sound more "English" if that makes sense. English sources tend to occasionally publish things about Poland but it's usually only the major stuff. In addition I did propose an idea that could improve the coverage of under looked countries, you may want to see this comment. @Sddarealone originally raised this problem, and agrees with my idea. At the end of 2022 European Athletics Championships – Women's 800 metres § Final, I have used a quote from the Polish middle-distance runner Anna Wielgosz. I recently copyedited Felicita Vestvali and have noticed that there is some speculation and a need for more sources. The article was previously a stub until recently, and most of the new information comes from a single source. Would any member of your wikiproject be willing to help with this article? I'm also sending this to a few other wikiprojects (Germany/Women's History/Musicians) so that it can be improved.
