This game looks cute. From a first glance, this article looks well written too. Expect me to begin soon! toby in solidarity 15:51, 2 June 2026 (UTC)

Lead
- Crypt Custodian is a 2024 Metroidvania video game developed by American independent game developer Kyle Thompson and published by Top Hat Studios. A single-player video game... Perhaps picky, but that is 3 "game"s in 2 sentences. It could be: Crypt Custodian is a 2024 Metroidvania video game independently developed by Kyle Thompson and published by Top Hat Studios. I assume "relative lack of innovation" relates to gameplay somehow, and the "relative" descriptor lacks context.
- Opted to just remove the innovation bit and changed the rest to ...but they criticized the difficulty scaling and repetitiveness of the different areas of the map. to hopefully clear things up (open to wording suggestions!)
- I've rephrased it a bit. -t

- It was named as a good introductory game to the Metroidvania genre. Something is off about using "named". I think "described" would be better.
- Agree—changed per your suggestion
Gameplay
- No gameplay image? (Optional of course)
{{awaiting}} as a note to self, will look for one :)Done! Open to captioning/positioning suggestions
- The "indie" genre doesn't really correlate to gameplay, so I would remove its mention here.

- Crypt Custodian features collectible items, including photographs, reward-bearing Cat Spirits, and... It's unclear what these photographs and "Cat Spirits" do.
- Changed the photographs part to photographs illustrating character backstories. I moved the cat spirits bit (with a new source) to later in the paragraph in the form of unlocked through rescuing cat spirits trapped in vases

- There's not much here regarding the "befriending other creatures" part of the game. I see that the reception gave some attention towards the characters, so is there any more to say about them regarding gameplay?
- Added a few sentences at the end of the first paragraph :)
Plot
- No plot?
- My impression is that the game is relatively light on plot. I suppose I could note some character backstories and other similar small details, but I'm not too sure that would be due emphasis. Open to further thoughts!
- I would expect the Gameplay section to at least outline the story in some way like with the ending, but this is not a big enough objection for me to halt the review over. You can always add it later :) -t

4I missed where they praised the large map.The landscape is quite expansive and as a Metroidvania, you'll have to puzzle your way through it [...]

12I don't see where the Indie World Showcase is mentioned in 12 or 18.- Sorry, this one's on me—looks like the announcement, not the teaser, was at the Indie World Showcase (per source 19). I don't think this detail is that necessary, especially since it turns out it doesn't involve Crypt Custodian at all, so I've just chosen to remove it :)
