Gen alpha starts in 2013

It was always 2012 where gen z ended I don’t understand the mix up and how it became early 2010 2A02:C7C:6330:1D00:5DC5:E1DE:718D:553C (talk) 22:44, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

2013 to 2028 is Gen Alpha and Gen Beta begins 2029 to 2044. 2600:1700:6580:36B0:99CD:D62B:D257:31D0 (talk) 22:57, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
I have a sinking feeling this is a 13 year old trying to get out of being a defined as a part of Gen Alpha.
McCrindle who created it coined it as 2010-2024, so why don't we stick with that? ~2025-33884-30 (talk) 06:46, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
I’m pretty sure every generation, including Gen Alpha, is at least 15 years old (every single one of them is 15 years old) It wouldn’t make sense to a generation to be 12 years old since Gen Beta started in 2025 wouldn’t it? I think the correct timeline for Gen Alpha is 2010-2025, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. (Please be respectful, though.) ~2026-38994-8 (talk) 18:01, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
Maybe you're right. But on Wikipedia, it doesn't matter what we think, it matters what reliable sources say. Read the sources in Generation_Alpha#Date_and_age_range_definitions.
I take more comfort in the criticism of the concept than in the labels themselves. Komonzia (talk) 18:06, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
I'd like to remind everyone that these are social, not biological, generations. Moreover, this is a "soft subject" (meaning, it's not exact). So don't worry too much about the boundaries. Nerd271 (talk) 18:30, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
Yeah you're right :D it may not be exact but it's somewhere in the early 2010s. ★ Campssitie (msg) (contribs) 03:48, 19 January 2026 (UTC)
Sorry, I didn't know (that was me on my phone, we are the same person, I wasn't logged in at the time). And there was a mistake in my text, I meant to say Gen Alpha was (maybe) in 2010-2024, not 2010-2025. Although you are right, I appreciate your comfort into reliable sources, I do too, don't worry. ★ Campssitie (msg) (contribs) 03:48, 19 January 2026 (UTC)
It didn’t become 2010, the only problem with it is the fact different research centers have different Gen Z end dates, which obviously will interfere with Gen Alpha starting dates ~2026-12970-36 (talk) 21:48, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
That's why they article says early 2010s and not a fixed date, no? ★ Campssitie (msg) (contribs) 🧋🏖 06:02, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
As a Gen Alpha born (2013), our generation ACTUALY begins in 2010, some think it should be 2013, and you should know that Gen Zalpha exist, which is a group for people born in 2010 to 2015
Ciro55(ALT) (talk) 02:48, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
Don't worry Ciro, I am aware of sub-social generations. :)
I moreover want to note as well that no fixed date has been universally agreed on, which is why people fight over when Gen Alpha starts because the early 2010s are the only time-range people agreed on.
That includes Gen Zalpha, I personally think it's a two year gap for Zalpha (2010-2012), but I don't want to get in an argument.
These are supposed to be arbitrary (It's some kind of pseudoscience), so don't worry too much, as Nerd271 said. ★ Campssitie (msg) (contribs) 🧋🏖 08:54, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

Jean Twenge is overly cited

They did not coin the term, and therefore should not be heavily cited more than McCrindle himself. ~2025-33884-30 (talk) 06:43, 16 November 2025 (UTC)

Just because she did not coin the term "Generation Alpha" does not mean she has fewer important things worth sharing. Nerd271 (talk) 16:02, 16 November 2025 (UTC)

Millenary v. Millennium

A millillenum is the final year of a millenary, which is a period of 1000 years.

Thus, the years 2001 to 3000 comprise the Third Millenary.

The Third Millennium will be the year 3000. The Second Millennium was the year 2000. The first Millennium was the year 1000. ~2026-11860-51 (talk) 19:46, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

Completely wrong. See the article on the 3rd millennium. Dimadick (talk) 00:00, 23 February 2026 (UTC)

Wikipedia hates gen alpha

You hate gen alpha and only talk about the bad stuff about generation alpha. Like why do you only talk about the bad stuff im just interested? Bgboi179 (talk) 14:22, 9 March 2026 (UTC)

Don't take it too seriously, @Bgboi179. If you go read the Millennials article, psychologist Jean Twenge describes Millennials as the most narcissistic and entitled generation of them all. I think that all of the generations have bad stuff talked about them. In the future, good stuff will also be talked about. ChicagoGirlD (talk) 23:52, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
Now im interested why does wikipedia (or any source) firstly look at the bad since of a generation? Bgboi179 (talk) 13:59, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
Put simply, the bad side is more likely to get reported in reliable sources, since that's more likely to draw in readership. Same reason as why there's a number of algo-recommended YouTube videos proclaiming that "gen alpha still can't read." Game4brains (talk) 19:05, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
