Coordinates

I needed to get a list of coordinates of the Sydney train stations; I used this page's list as my source list of stations.
Would it be helpful to add columns with lat and lon to the table, now that I have them? Even if not, here they are if anyone else finds them useful:

List of Sydney Trains railway stations → List of Sydney suburban railway stations – Sydney trains runs both the suburban and intercity networks now (but not the regional one). This article title is objectively wrong. I still think the scope of this list not including intercity stations is fine, but it should be renamed. Also this title is more resilient if the government ever decides to change the name of the operator again. Gamingcanary (talk) 19:04, 11 April 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. - Support: The current name "List of Sydney Trains railway stations" is a bad excuse simply to use the brand name. I would prefer the title "List of railway stations in Sydney" that is equally clear and WP:CONCISE in that it contains only the information you need, no extra brand name or inclusion of "suburban", it also implies that the article will not be including stations from outside Sydney such as intercity stations. It does not make sense to exclude intercity services if they are currently operated by Sydney Trains, but for that we will need to merge a large part of "List of NSW TrainLink railway stations" into this article. If there is consensus, we could also use the title "Railway stations in New South Wales", that way the scope can be expanded to include every railway station in the state, whether regional, intercity or suburban, and it would mean we will not need seperate articles. Qwerty123M (talk) 01:08, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- I strongly oppose moving to "List of railway stations in Sydney". The Sydney Metro exists as a distinct service with its own list at List of Sydney Metro stations. Steelkamp (talk) 03:17, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- is the intercity network now part of Sydney Trains? Or is it just operated by Sydney Trains? https://transportnsw.info/travel-info/ways-to-get-around/train seems to imply that the Sydney Trains Network and Intercity Trains Network are still distinct. Steelkamp (talk) 03:19, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- Comment Sydney Trains Network and Intercity Trains Network are divisional names, all operations are conducted by the singular Sydney Trains legal entity under the Sydney Trains brand. JCN217 (talk) 00:07, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- I think it's best to sidestep the issue of "Sydney Trains" referring to two different things by just calling it the suburban network, and not worrying about TfNSW's unclear communication. Gamingcanary (talk) 06:34, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose, see no need benefit in adding suburban to the title. JCN217 (talk) 00:03, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- Do you think there would also be a benefit in merging List of Sydney Metro stations into this article? I somewhat doubt that this idea would be useful because some stations that have only been used for Sydney Metro services are titled "metro station" rather than "railway station", highlighting a point of distinction between the two systems. Another consideration in this case would be that the list of metro stations article is a featured article, especially concerning in this case is point e of the featured article criteria. Qwerty123M (talk) 01:33, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- I believe it is standard practice to not include rapid transit in lists of railway stations Gamingcanary (talk) 01:45, 13 April 2026 (UTC)

- Oppose. I oppose renaming to "List of Sydney suburban railway stations". The suburban rail system is still known as Sydney Trains and the intercity network is still known as Intercity Trains. See https://transportnsw.info/routes/train. I strongly oppose renaming to "List of railway stations in Sydney", because this ignores all the Metro and light rail stations in Sydney, that are on separate lists. Steelkamp (talk) 05:27, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- Comment,Steelkamp, as you have stated here that you strongly oppose and here that you oppose, this will count as a duplicate vote. Can you please delete or
strikeone of them? JCN217 (talk) 00:41, 14 April 2026 (UTC)- Comment, Intercity Trains is not a brand, all services are operated under the Sydney Trains brand, This is just how TfNSW has sorted its timetables. Click on Sydney Trains and its has a sub-heading of Sydney Rail, of which there is no such thing. Whilst the recently withdrawn V sets had 'Operated by NSW Trains' exterior signwriting, the replacement D sets, that only operate intercity services, have 'Operated by Sydney Trains', as does all of the stock that only operates within metropolitan Sydney, so there is only one brand.
- In its 2025 annual report on page 32, Sydney trains states: Intercity services were transferred from NSW Trains into Sydney Trains. In no other part of the report is there any indication that there is an Intercity Trains.JCN217 (talk) 00:52, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

- Oppose. Even if they are now operated by the same operator, an average reader will not be interested in the technicality of the operator, but rather the branding used. And I don't get the reason that using the brand name is bad: It helps to scope the article to one particular service provided, making it identifiable to readers at first glance, and plus we've done so for other articles (such as List of Manchester Metrolink tram stops rather than List of tram stops in Greater Manchester). I think renaming to List of Sydney Trains suburban rail stations, following List of MBTA Commuter Rail stations as an example, might help, but I'm not familiar enough with Sydney Trains to say with full confidence if it actually would. - So what are we going to do? I think all the options below are acceptable.
- 1. Merge with NSW Trainlink station list to create one list for the whole state
- 2. Do not rename, add intercity stations
- 3. Rename, such that this article only contains Suburban stations. Create new article for intercity stations.
- 3a. "List of Sydney suburban railway stations"
- 3b. "List of Sydney Trains suburban railway stations"
- 3c. "List of railway stations in Sydney" Gamingcanary (talk) 08:33, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
- Option 1 is the way forward I prefer most. I strongly oppose the use of "List of railway stations in Sydney" as this could easily be confused with "List of Sydney Metro stations". If we do have to choose from any of these option 3 renaming choices, I most prefer "List of Sydney suburban railway stations" as that is WP:CONCISE enough while including enough information. - Option 3a is my preferred option, followed by option 1.
- The current layout of having suburban separate to Intercity/statewide is better for searching and navigation. If the lists were to be combined, it will be massive and hard to navigate.
- For reference, both pages have ~50,000bytes. Jacksonvil (talk|contribs) 10:17, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
