Chichewa as official language
@Af265 Are you sure that Chewa is the official language of Malawi? I am asking this because you said so in your edit summary. Without wasting time, Chewa is not official language of Malawi, and is not even national language of Malawi. There is no such claim in the constitution of Malawi. Chichewa and Chitumbuka are not official or national languages of Malawi. But know that they were once official languages of Malawi alongside English. English is still officially official language of Malawi while the two lost such status 50 years ago. Chichewa dominates the Central and Southern Malawi and can be understood by tribes found in the regions including Yao, Lomwe, Sena, etc. In the same case, Chitumbuka dominates the Northern Region and parts of Central Region (in Kasungu and Nkhotakota districts). In the Northern, if different tribes meet in one place such as the Tonga, Nyiha, Sukwa, Ndali, Nyakyusa, Ngonde, Senga, Tumbuka and Lambya, they could use Chitumbuka and understand each other.
Stop pushing or considering Chichewa (or Chitumbuka) as national or official languages of the country. There are currently no such claims officially. Spreading wrong information to the world and on Wikipedia is against its policies.
I am not in favor of Chichewa or Chitumbuka, but in favor of facts. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 12:59, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your message. However, I said it is the de facto official language. In other words, it is the common denominator of all local languages in Malawi. Almost everyone in Malawi understands a certain degree of Chichewa. For example, a Sena from Nsanje might go to Karonga for business and he/she might be able to talk to the locals there in Chichewa rather than Chitumbuka. These two people, even though they are not Chewa, still understand it, at least the basics. So Chichewa is the common denominator. Therefore, I believe it would be correct if an article about the Sena people said something like, most of them understand some basic Chichewa, but the same cannot be said for other languages like Chitumbuka, Tonga, Lomwe, etc., in this case.
- I’m not trying to push Chewa, but it’s a fact that Chewa is the common language in Malawi, understood by almost everyone, making it easier for people of different tribes to carry on a conversation or business.
- Once again, I’m not saying that Chewa is the official language of Malawi, but it is a de facto language that almost everyone understands. Af265 (talk) 14:56, 31 August 2025 (UTC)

I saw your edits at Mary Hall (explorer), thanks, and you added quite a few links to countries and their capital cities. Wiki calls this overlinking. The idea is that no competent reader needs a link from London or France to find out more about them. You should see that these items are not usually linked. Cheers Victuallers (talk) 21:44, 7 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Victuallers Hello,, this is noted thank you. I'll revert the edit and remove the kinks to the countries and cities. Af265 (talk) 01:58, 8 September 2025 (UTC)

Turnout figure
Please stop reinstating the turnout figure without a source. If you have a source, add it. If not, don't reinstate the data. In most cases the turnout in the infobox is not sourced because the figure appears in the article with a source. However, if the information is not in the article, it needs a source if challenged. And if you 'don't want to engage in an edit war', stop violating WP:BRD and reinstating unsourced claims. Number 57 19:43, 20 September 2025 (UTC)

Hi Af265. Thank you for your work on Frank Mbeta. Another editor, Mariamnei, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Thank you for your work on this article. Please add a footnote to the unsourced claim ("He has handled commercial and constitutional litigation in his private practice in Blantyre."). Also, please add more sources to establish WP:Note. Currently, most of the sources are from the Nyasa Times. Thanks and have a great day!

Annoyed
You just reverted two edits that I made, on 2025 Tanzanian general election and 2025 Tanzanian election protests. Both of them were made in good faith, trying to add info and context that I believe is important. What's the deal? CircleAdrian (talk) 05:27, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
- @CircleAdrian Yes i reverted because your adding content that is not relevant to the articles;
- Tanzania election - what your adding in the lead paragraph is meant for conduct section, atleast most of it. You might have to check other african election articles like Malawi, or cameroom etc to see how this section is meant to be. Anyway, coming to this article. in fact most of the content is already there in the conduct or campaghn section, just check down you'll see so its abit of redundant to have the very same content in the lead paragraph.
- Tanzania protest - youve added details that are supposed to be in the election article. for examples saying Suluhu won with this margin and comparing it with magufuli vote is not rlevant to this article. not at all. check other articles and see how they are structured.
- Its nothing personal, by the way i didnt revert each and every edit you made, some were relevant and they still there. I hope youve understood. Thank you so much and have a good day Af265 (talk) 05:58, 2 November 2025 (UTC)

- @Mariamnei i understand that the page might not be meeting the notability criteria now. I see that its up for deletion as well, its fine. will create it again after several websites have covered it, otherwise i thought having two paragraphs and lebelling it as a stub was enough for now. - Comment: Alt hooks are welcome. Bwaila hospital is also new if an editor wants to add it and supply QPQs (if required)
Victuallers (talk) 17:28, 14 March 2026 (UTC).
Article was expanded 5x within the given time, there is no image to review, ALT0 hook is interesting/cited, article is stable, neutral (which is difficult for politicians so thank you for that), and there are no obvious copyright violations (Earwig pulls 4.8% and matches are incidental). I've done a few copyedits so please take a look at let me know.
- My concern is with the following: Ref #1 is to Facebook, which is not considered reliable, especially for facts about the person's career. We either need to remove this or find a better source. The mention of "Khumbize Chiponda" is also uncited and should be mentioned elsewhere in the body paragraphs per WP:INFOBOXCITE. Ping me when this is taken care of and I'll take another look! Morogris (✉ • ✎) 19:27, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
- For your information, Bwaila Hospital comprises little other than two news reports and would be ineligible as a stub; I'd expect an article about a hospital to touch on its history and facilities and possibly any public transport that went there (compare Epsom Hospital, St. Anthony's Hospital, North Cheam).--Launchballer 19:42, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
- Noted, thank you (and I agree). This was only a review for Baloyi not the hospital. The hospital article has the same info on Baloyi's activities so would need for it to be longer, to your point. Morogris (✉ • ✎) 19:58, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review @Morogris:. Newspapers in Malawi, sadly, use Facebook as their publisher. So, I removed the sections linked to that newspaper article. I have sourced the previous minister's name and added it to the body. I was surprised to get a review of the hospital article and a comparison with Epsom Hospital. When Epsom was a week old, and eligible for DYK, it had a four iffy sources, it didn't mention transport links or history but it was marked as a start article... and it was. That seems a fair comparison to me, however I changed the hook to just be "a hospital" to avoid the debate. Victuallers (talk) 23:59, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
@Victuallers: Interesting note on the newspapers that use FB as their publisher (in Mexico it's the same for smaller outlets). If you're able to confirm that The Maravi Post is a reliable source, perhaps by proving that it is an actual news outlet with editorial control, and/or that it is covered in detail and cited by other reliable media, you may be able to use it under WP:FACEBOOK. Though I would recommend you leave a hidden text and a talkpage message to warn editors.- That being said, this article is ready. Hook is cited and fun/interesting. The rest of the article reads well and uses a lot of good sources. Good to go! Morogris (✉ • ✎) 02:44, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- (Oh, I wasn't planning on reviewing Bwaila Hospital - you said "Bwaila hospital is also new if an editor wants to add it and supply QPQs", and I was going to take you up on that. Still could actually. Epsom Hospital looked like this when it was published - while not a good article in any way, shape or form, it covers the basics.)--Launchballer 07:55, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Feel free Launchballer! It does have a lot of repeated text to be fair. The Maravi Post (yes wiki is a poor source) is one of four on-line news sources in Malawi and it publishes its editorial policy. Its in a deal with Facebook. I think I would need to create an article for it to avoid editors assuming that facebook=unreliable. Its not a fair policy imo. Facebook does not add any editorial control, but it does not remove it. I'll stick for now. Thx for the review. Victuallers (talk) 09:14, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
