ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message
Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:17, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed you've been working on the article Colleen Jones. I wanted to let you know that the article is currently at Wikipedia:In the news/Candidates but is being opposed due to lack of citations. I figured you might like a chance to do some quick cleanup to get the article listed on ITN. Cheers, MediaKyle (talk) 02:49, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that out. The article is still a work in progress, but I'll see what I can do.-- Earl Andrew - talk 14:16, 27 November 2025 (UTC)

Howdy. Concerning the 2022 Conservative Party of Canada leadership election infobox. You'll find that a certain editor who keeps re-adding 2026 & a none existent article, won't stop. Their history shows that they're a 'slow burn' with such persistence & with little to no communicating skills. GoodDay (talk) 21:00, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

Hi Earl Andrew. You uploaded File:Gordon Hudson.png using a {{PD-URAA}} license but also provided the file with a non-free use rationale. So, you're saying the photo is no longer eligible for copyright protection and has entered into the public domain but also saying the file is still under copyright protection and needs to be treated as such. You can go either way if you want, but you really can't do both at the same time. You seem to have done the same thing with respect to File:Murray Macneill.png too.
If you feel either photo is indeed within the public domain, you should replace the non-free rationale template you used for the file's description with Template:Information. On the other hand, if you feel that the photo is still under copyright protection, you should replace the "PD-URAA" license with an appropriate non-free one. The long the files remain as is, the greater the chance of a WP:BOT noticing the conflict between the licenseing and non-free use rationales, which could cause the files to be removed from whatever pages they're being used on. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:09, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

I am sorry, but in what world is an egregiously detailed listing of the geographic boundaries useful information? Should we also do this for cities? Just imagine the geography section of some towns in Colorado thence...coordinates XYZ thence...coordinates ZZY thence...coordinates ABX The point of anything on this website is to provide concise and accurate information for readers in a useful manner, a list of boundaries isn't helpful or easy to understand and can be replaced by a link in the references to the document containing the information, a detailed map which shows the towns within the area, now that is useful info. ~2026-21185-78 (talk) 18:50, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- What is and what isn't "useful information" is subjective, and apparently something we disagree with. You will need a find a consensus if you want that information removed.-- Earl Andrew - talk 21:46, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- Always the same reply from wikipedians "I don't agree, I will insert something about "consesus", also I will not explai why I do not agree" typical bollocks ~2026-21320-32 (talk) 17:13, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- I figured that stating that its usefulness was subjective was enough. You can't just go around Wikipedia removing information from pages without expecting there to be backlash. Wikipedia is built on consensus, not one IP's personal beliefs.-- Earl Andrew - talk 17:17, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- You still haven't explained why the info is useful and you have once again repeated the word "consensus", WHY is the info useful?
- And anyways another user agrees with me, so really you need to learn that your IP's personal beliefs don't constitute consensus because you are a mod... Stupid encyclopedia (talk) 17:21, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- I saw that. That wasn't so hard, now was it? Because I don't have consensus, there is no need for me to continue defending its inclusion.-- Earl Andrew - talk 17:28, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- So now you accuse me of creating a sock puppet and then you go "see that wasn't so hard, was it?"? The other guy lives in Alabama. Alabama! My IP is in Canada! Seriously, the nerve of people here!
- Also, if your only argument for keeping something is consensus, that is circular logic, if everyone here defended stuff solely because the consensus is that this is the consensus, then we'd never change anything, you need to explain WHY something is useful or nothing will change!
- In fact, not once did you give a reason for why this needs to stay, you only repeated the word "consensus" ad-nauseum without ever explaining why the info was useful. Imagine if every time you did an edit, someone reverted it and asked you to prove there was a consensus for the change. That would paralyse editing!

- You said "I saw that. That wasn't so hard, now was it? " So you basically implied I have two accounts for editing. Also, you still won't explain why I need consensus for every change. Crestwood Curling Club
2023 Kitchener Centre provincial by-election
Thanks for checking that number in the by-election results. It seems that we disagree on what that particular entry should be--I gather that you have put the quotient of "Total valid votes" divided by "Turnout" (23,616/23,772 = 99.34%). Generally speaking, a row marked "Total..." contains the sum of the entries above it. In the present case, "Total valid votes", this is true of the tabulations (23,616 is the sum of the eighteen entries above, in the "Votes" column). In the same way, the entry to the right, in the % column, should be the sum of the eighteen percentages above--which is 99.99% (Theoretically that number should be 100%, but of course round-off in the eighteen entries causes a little deviation). PIB507 (talk) 21:57, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, that's not how we typically do things on Wikipedia. It's kind of redundant to put 100% there, so it's more useful to use the space as a percentage of valid votes. It's based on what Elections Quebec does. -- Earl Andrew - talk 22:08, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
- Certainly the number could be called redundant, as the point of summing the percentages is to check--a sum too far from 100% would alert us to an error above. (In the present case, with eighteen entries, any sum outside of the range 99.91-100.09 would indicate an error).
- The Elections Quebec example is very clear in its presentation. Unlike the present Wikipedia page, it does not show, under a column of numbers, a 'Total' that is not the total of those numbers.
- Looking at the source template (Canadian election result), in the example table given on that page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Canadian_election_result#Example the entry corresponding to the one we've been discussing is the redundant 100%, the sum of the percentages above. I am inclined to believe that is the correct Wikipedia way.
- This is also consistent with the Canadian election result documentation subpage (see note 8). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Canadian_election_result/total/doc#Calculating_Totals PIB507 (talk) 05:26, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
- Both examples are over a decade old. Most templates these days don't use the 100.0 anymore. I suppose the documentation needs to be updated. -- Earl Andrew - talk 05:33, 10 May 2026 (UTC)

- Hello, this information appears in a secondary source (see here), so I would argue it is of encyclopedic value. It also doesn't mention an address or any other contact information. Therefore, I'm not sure it warrants removal per Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. However, if you disagree with my assessment, please feel free to take it up at the Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard. -- Earl Andrew - talk 16:10, 25 July 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for your comprehension.
