Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Anasterias pedicellaris. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:
|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]
Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:
|image=SomeImage.jpg.
There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!! Manual of Style & Layout guidelines
Hi!
Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia!
There are a few things that I want to note about the articles you create (specifically on species)
While you don't have to worry about notability (because all life is notable due to the wiki's guidelines), you still need to include a couple references about the species itself, or else your pages are subject to be draftified, which means they are not open to the public anymore. This is a really important guideline, because such a big and important project like Wikipedia can't have made up or incorrect information.
Secondly, as stated above, images in infoboxes should not be thumbnails.
All pages must comply with the manual of style and layout guidelines. Since you are creating pages in the genus Anasterias, here is a great example of a page that complies with it; Anasterias antarctica. For example, species name in the first sentence must be bolded and italics, infoboxes before any text, and you need to include things like a references section header and the taxonbar template. If you create articles in draftspace first, you can use User:Novem Linguae/Scripts/SpeciesHelper, which is a script that does some of the legwork for you. For example, I just edited the page you just created, Anasterias studeri, to make it a starting point.
Also categories, which is something many people don't do. Adding categories at the bottom of pages (like [[Category:Flora of New Zealand]]) helps categorize articles and are required as well.
I think that's it for now. LMK if you have any questions! EatingCarBatteries (contributions, talk) 02:15, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
- Also, I noticed that in one of your articles you referenced a google url. This is not enough, and is really not a good idea. You used Google's AI, which is a decent starting point, but is not reliable. AI is known for making up information, and is not a reliable source of information. Neither is normal Google search, it is an aggregator of information, not a reliable source in itself. Better sources to use would be the Catalogue of Life or the Encyclopedia of Life, where you can do similar searches but it is much more reliable. EatingCarBatteries (contributions, talk) 02:30, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
- Seconded. They are not subject to any notability guidelines but that doesn't mean the articles can be entirely unsourced.
- I have moved a number of pages back to the draftspace, with the exception of Anasterias spirabilis as it technically contains a source for now (but the link must be fixed) and Anasterias pedicellaris, as it has taxon identifiers, though it should still have additional references.
- It shouldn't be difficult to find, but please note that iNaturalist has recently become a 'generally unreliable' source as per Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources, and use of the site as a source is discouraged. Aesurias (talk) 03:14, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @I do coding so yeah. It's unfortunate that I have to try and reiterate this again, but I've noticed probably a dozen of your articles that have significant issues with formatting, manual of style & tone.
- Using an astrix and then writing "remember to toggle the countries!!!" uncapitalized at the end of an article is not acceptable.
- Neither are articles with no citations, for example Calasterias. I will be dratifying them if I see any more, because I have informed you of this, and other things, multiple times now with no response from you.
- Also, I would suggest that you stop using bare URLs, I can show you how to use the 'Cite web' dropdown so that it's easier for you.
- When other editors have to spend more time fixing your mistakes than you do creating the articles themselves, you are not contributing to Wikipedia, but impeding its goals.
- If you have questions about formatting or sources, please reply here or on my talk page. I am more than happy to teach you everything you need to know. Aesurias (talk) 23:18, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
- Also, and I am unsure how to better say this, adding an image of a blue sad face and writing "sorry no taxobox :((((" rather than putting a taxobox (or just not putting anything) is unacceptable. It's a waste of your time because it's not contributing to the article, and it wastes the time of the person who has to remove it. Aesurias (talk) 23:19, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
- i am so sorry. this is very embarrasing. I will stop and fix all of this. do whatever you want with my articles. I do coding so yeah (talk) 21:14, 29 October 2025 (UTC)

- @I do coding so yeah I am not sure how better to say this: inserting an image of a cartoon sad face and writing "sorry no taxobox :(" on a mainspace article is not acceptable.
- You also need sources, as I have stated multiple times before. While these articles don't need to meet 'notability' standards, because they're species, they can't go completely unreferenced. Aesurias (talk) 23:19, 22 October 2025 (UTC)

Ways to improve Calasterias
Hello, I do coding so yeah,
Thank you for creating Calasterias.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
Removing tags is unacceptable. People have already warned you at least a dozen times about various issues with your articles, and a continuation of your behaviour can only lead to somebody reporting you.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Aesurias}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.
Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

- @I do coding so yeah it is really important that you respond to the discussion at § User:I do coding so yeah - consistent creation of substandard articles & removal of maintenance tags. Multiple editors have raised concerns with the pages you created and you haven't responded at all, so they have escalated the situation. You know how to respond on talk pages, so you really should go to the noticeboard discussion and explain yourself. ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · email · global) 05:59, 28 October 2025 (UTC)

I am probably going to quit Wikipedia.
I am sorry for making stubs. Just note that I am a child, so I may not make the best articles. I do coding so yeah (talk) 21:16, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
- I see this went from "probably" to definitely between you posting this here and you posting at AN/I, but for what it's worth ... I don't think anybody wants to see you leave. Look at the histories of your articles: several people have improved them. (Remember when you thanked someone for such an improvement? It's what we usually do; it's a wiki, so everybody can work on other people's work, making it better.) Look above on this page: Zackmann08 and EatingCarBatteries explained how to do things. You learned from people's comments that you needed to include references, and World Register of Marine Species is a good one. But I've been wondering why you continued to do your references as bare links after being told that was a problem? Instead of doing that and then removing the "linkrot" template, you replaced maintenance templates with smiley templates? If you can code, you can certainly handle some sort of reference identification. Come on! The thing is, Wikipedia is publication. It's a reference work consulted by people all over the world, just like a book in the library. You say you're a child; nobody had any way of knowing that, and for good or bad, it doesn't make any difference to the reader whether the page was last edited by a 9-year-old or a 99-year-old; they have a right to expect references, references that give some idea of where they go to and how old they are, and not to have to scroll past social-media-style funny images. (It also doesn't matter to me, for what it's worth; the project has had a lot of respected editors who were pretty far from their 18th birthdays when they started.) You say above that you'll fix stuff. Actually, it's on its way to being fixed, but if you do want to pitch in, look at the "diff" view for the changes in each article's history to see how the fixes were made. My work isn't the best example, because I tend to do lots of stuff in one big edit, but here's an edit by me to Adelasterias as an example of a "diff". (That's using the wiki-editor not the visual editor. Say the word and others will help out with visual editing.) And please ... don't copy text from a draftified article and use it to create or improve a new version of the same article. They'll need to have their histories merged by an admin to cross the t's and dot the i's of attribution and back-end neatness. Please don't make duplicates or cross-fertilize em. Speaking as a former admin, hist-merging, yuck.) Yngvadottir (talk) 23:30, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
